Oh, and I'd like to personally thank @Onboard 2.0 for voting for Abigail Spanberger, we couldn't have done it without you.

That was surprising.  Brat, the incumbent, didn’t help his case with women by being condescending to Spanberger by repeatedly calling her Nancy pelosi in the debate.   Brat was funny in the debate and how can enjoy sitting at home telling jokes.

I wasn't shocked on that. Brat is a fucking looney (I honestly blame him more than any other current politician for our current state of fuckery because he basically kicked it all off by primary-ing Cantor) and there's been a big influx into the greater Richmond Metro of younger professionals.

I was, and still am, gobsmacked my district, VA02, went blue. Legit stunned.

When the president starts leading by example and quits using violent rhetoric and calling the press the enemy of the people and encouraging his supporters to see the opposition as traitors then we can talk.

Republicans might not all be racist but racists sure think they are.

And when Trump runs outright racist ads full of lies, what are people supposed to call him?

I’m done giving his supporters the benefit of the doubt. If you still support the party of Trump you support racism and racist policies. Whether each individual supporter drops the N bomb is immaterial to me.

Supporting racists and misogynists and bigots makes you the same. You are the company you keep.

TAKE THE LOSS, PUSSY!

I didn't really care who won but it's pretty pathetic what we get regarding news coverage.    I switched between national CBS and CNN coverage and the complete bias for the Ds was so very evident.  Announcers were giddy when showing results that favored the Ds and outright glum when showing an R in control of a race.   It was glaringly obvious who they wanted to win.   I'm sure Fox was just as bad the other direction but I don't watch their crap.

Why can't someone cover an election without the obvious bias?

Senate race in Florida has apparently tightened up enough and CNN is saying that with outstanding votes and absentee votes that it may be in the automatic recount territory now.

Yeah!

Not gonna go back and quote all the Florida comments...   Did you guys somehow not know Florida is batshit crazy stupid? (Trump loves it here) You've probably been compelled to spend a week of your vacation in this plastic tourist trap purgatory.   I've got news for you...  You've only seen the CLASSY parts.   Next time you're forced to visit get in a car and drive the back roads, Then ask yourself, Am I surprised they didn't elect a black Governor?   For bonus points, drop into any of the gun shops and just browse around, have a little chitty chat with the Proprietor (DO NOT HINT THAT YOU ARE A FEDERAL AGENT!) For the record, he already suspects that.

What gets more eyeballs?

It's not 1992 anymore. You can get your coverage without watching those dinosaurs on cable news.

This is like complaining that Burger King and McDonald's don't offer healthy options, so where can you possibly get your vitamins?

They could do the first without cheer leading.   Oh, and cut the projection shit.  I swear, more than once they were projecting D winners with less than 10% of the votes cast.   Then, when the margin swung back in the Rs favor, the hang dog look on the studio crews was fabulous.   I guess it was funny to watch but incredibly sad at the same time.

Only, I think, did 2 projections all night long get rescinded.

I only turned off CNN because they were the absolute slowest to update.  The AP got numbers way quicker.  CNN was about the last to call most races.

I mean that's just cable news now. I think most of the folks on CNN or MSNBC are genuinely liberal leaning, and have difficulty hiding it. Forget who it was but one of the CNN guys last night said "this is great news!" then realized how biased it was after a pause, and had to follow it with "for the democrats". I wish they'd make more of an effort to appear neutral, but cable news is just politics as a sport now anyway.

But, by the nature of their job, media is going to have a broad worldview, and is going to have traveled all over the country and world. People with a broad worldview overwhelmingly vote D, so it sort of comes with the territory.

Don’t worry, emotionless robots will be running things soon enough.

JFC, when the President is basically calling our news organizations terrorist organizations (enemy of the people), I’d be pretty happy too a check is getting put on him. Maybe the mail bombs and death threats will slow down.

6 state Houses also flipped last night

Quote
  1. Colorado State Senate
  2. New York State Senate
  3. New Hampshire State House + State Senate
  4. Minnesota State House
  5. Maine State Senate

Plus the Democrats now have a 5-2 majority for the North Carolina Supreme Court.

I know, right?  I felt the same way when we beat Nazi Germany and threw a big parade like it was something to celebrate.  Stop being happy when good triumphs over evil.  That’s bias.

AP finally called GA-06. FLIP.  It all started with Karen Handel and now she's out after gun rights activist McBath overtook her late last night in provisional/absentees.  50.3% and avoided a run-off.

Also fuck any of you motherfuckers who doubted Jon Ralston.  That man is a fucking Election God who basically called Nevada going for Sisolak/Rosen days ago before a single vote was actually counted.

That man knows his state, inside and out.

Out of every pundit there is, he is far and away the most accurate. It's not even close.

To be fair that's easier when you focus on one state and one state only. It's why it's probably cost-prohibitive to be that good overall from a national perspective, you'd have to pay a Ralston level pundit in every state.

We could use more of them across the country. 50 independent Ralstons versus 50 Republican-insiders and 50 Democrat-insiders spinning shit.

School gets shot up and Florida residents respond by voting for Republicans. Good job retards.

Also, shout out to women. I'll happily vote for female candidates over male candidates every time.
I did in all the judicial races. Feel like they may go easier on me if I ever get into trouble.

Voted for both Spanberger and Kaine.  Stewart is a wack job, and Bratt is a dick head who took Canter out.  He was a dick head before that, but that just made him more so.   I've met the guy a couple times. He's more suited as a game show host.

Spanbergers pledge to vote her conscience, and not the party line is probably BS though. She'll do just what the party leadership tells her to do, just like most politicians do.

Kaine isn't any great shakes, but better than Stewart.

Yeah, I voted for Kaine and Luria. And I can't stand Kaine. But Stewart is fucking crazytown.

Seeing Brat go down warmed the cockles of my heart. Dude is a clown.

In regards to polling and punditry.

Not sure what show I heard this on over the last week, but I heard on a radio talk show the point that local polling has taken a major hit in the last decade due to the decline of local newspapers and media.  Basically national level polls are pretty reliable because organizations like ABC, CNN,..... can afford to pay huge amounts for polling data.  They do not however pay for much or any state or lower level polling.  Locals(newspapers, tv stations)  can't afford to pay for the type of polling that they historically would have.

Per the Tweeters -

Only Election Day totals have been tallied in AZ.  There's as much as 25% of the vote still outstanding from early votes.  Sinema is not dead yet.

Interesting.

They need to get on the ball in Montana too, there's a ton of outstanding votes still. Looks like Tester holds, but I gots to know.

A few "Montana dudes" think he still pulls it off because of where the outstanding vote is.

I wish we had ranked choice voting in all of our elections.

I can't wait to see how that race plays out once it kicks in.

There are still about 20k outstanding votes in counties where Tester is up approx 59-37%. He should be able to pull it out in the end
