Colorado passed a law that puts redistricting in the hands of an independent panel consisting of 4 Democrats, 4 Republicans, and 4 unaffiliated voters. A good step, but the requirements for redistricting make it unlikely that it would occur.  However, I feel the current fairly represent Colorado as a whole.

Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, England, Scotland, Wales.

But I believe you said we were the easiest country to vote. So now you’re wrong twice

In Austrailia, you dont get 3 weeks to vote and you have to answer some questions so you are identified and checked off the voting rolls (name., Address and if you voted previously), you actually do have to provide some form of ID in sweden, you have a voting card in Switzerland, yes, the UK and US do not technically have to show ID to vote and we are the only 2 countries with people in prison for voter fraud

Actually in Sweden you don’t. Anyone with an ID can certify your indentity. Those place also register voters rather than forcing people to do it themselves. Many other countries and some places here have same day registration. Many other countries make Election Day a national holiday.

You can keep doubling down on your blatant lie or you can admit you didn’t really know how voting works in other countries.

Cool. That’s again not what you said but thanks for trying to move the goalposts.

Let me out it to you another way... you said the US was the easiest place to vote in the world. That’s

Ok, maybe a bit of hyperbole.  UK being the easiest.  The US 2nd.  Regardless, it's pretty easy.   Nobody is being prevented from voting here

Ok, if someone doesnt have a driver's license, tax id or or passport, someone can verify their identity in Sweden if you want to drag someone to vote for the same socialist government everyone votes for.  You dont even have to do that here if you fill out an absentee ballot.  No ID is required or a 3rd person.

Here's the update for AZ:

-An initial "call" can be made TOMORROW at 7ET (McSally likely, ABSURDLY TOO CLOSE TO CALL, Sinema likely)
-Estimated 652,400 ballots outstanding - nearly all early ballots, but a few thousand provisional
-Marciopa: 492,400 belong to this county - results of most of them will be released Thursday at 7ET but the rest may take 9-10 days (this should really be what tells us if Sinema can make up her 0.9% deficit)
 * 297,104 in one bucket are ballots that were received Monday the 5th.  These SHOULD benefit Sinema because this was the period when the Democrats caught up to Republicans in early voting
* 195,296 in one bucket are ballots that were hand delivered on Election Day, plus provisionals.  These SHOULD benefit McSally as Election Day was +10R in Maricopa
-Roughly 160,000 ballots outside of Maricopa.  Depends where they are - if the outstanding votres in Pima > everywhere else, benefits Sinema.  These are the wildcard.

Why in the world would need a holiday here when voting is for weeks and you can vote by mail?  That's stupid to me.  No need.

Just to be clear, early voting is still not allowed in 13 states in the U.S. Here in New York, for example, the Democratic controlled Assembly previously passed bills establishing an early voting window, but they have been blocked by the Republican Senate (which flipped to Dems last night).

Of course neither of the quoted posters actually care about this information, but thought I would clarify for others reading.

Oh so you’re saying you were, yet again, wrong? You are simply uninformed on how elections work around the world. You can live in ignorance if you would like but stop stating your ignorant opinions as fact. This is not the easiest country to vote in. Period. People are prevented from voting here. Period.

I trust Mueller to report on violations of the Trump allies that have nothing to do with election meddling,a as that is what he has done from day 1.  Mueller is not investigating the illegal spying on the Trump campaign so he is quite irrelevant to that question.

Before people start championing the national voting holiday thing, please remember that in many countries the bars are required to be CLOSED all day.

So to hell with that.

I saw this in a John Wayne movie, everyone bum rushes the bar as soon as the vote was done.

Liberal enthusiasm was completely misguided, as the Democrats failed to win every race.

Money and racism still pretty effective campaigning tools.

Landmark elections of first Muslim women, 986th white supremacist to Congress.

Should probably bring snack to polling place next time.

Republicans continue to owe victories to the tireless work of grassroots gerrymandering.

To ensure a win in 2020, the Democrats should consider running either a far-left, center-left, moderate, or conservative candidate.

Diehard fans of graphical representations of data celebrated record chart turnout.

We probably won’t miss our grandparents as much as we think.

Wins by diverse candidates are stoking fears that more Americans willing to elect candidates who represent them.

Andy Kim is up about ~3,000 votes.

Also, Orange County is going to take FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.  Still 418,000 votes to be counted.  This is CA-39, CA-48 and CA-49.

You're giving me whiplash.

CA-49 was called based on early return votes (big lead).  CA-39 and CA-48 are still uncalled because early returns were too close.

Because we should encourage more people to vote in anyway we can.

I understand on the surface and with some of our country's history why many say and think this, but I don't.

When I say that less people should vote, I'm sure some (here and other places) immediately start thinking of people of color, but that's not why.  Living in a state like West Virginia, we have the ability, if desired,  to see very common or similar problems internally without looking thru the lense of race and racism.  We have almost no people of color here (I've told y'all before that my freaking housekeeper is white), and yet we have some serious problems with education, drugs and dumfuckery often associated with cultures (or subcultures..... think of Vic's facebook postings) .  I don't want more of Cletus Delbridge and his cousin Guppy or his sister Arthela at the polls making civic choices.  They aren't educated enough on the issues to have even a modicum of understanding and will just vote for some commercial they liked, or who a friend said is going to give them more stuff or even who isn't a Muslim or won't take their guns (true or not).  We keep pushing for more Cletuses (Cleti ...plural?) to vote we are fucked as a society.  I'm not saying ban Cletus or Guppy from voting, but I can find no rational reason to promote or encourage him to vote.

You encourage them to vote so that they feel a part of the system. People who feel like they can affect the system give more effort to better themselves and their lives. They will vote for better opportunity for their children via education, and perhaps for themselves via better health services for addiction. Voting themselves out of prison and into rehab can improve both their value to society and certainly the following generations' value. Encouraging them to vote also encourages some of them to actually serve as elected officials, and they will know they have to be clean to do that.

There will always be a bottom rung in society. In the version of America that is what it's supposed to be they are given every opportunity to remove themselves and their children from that rung.

Sheldon Adelson is a nasty toad. He’s the reason GOP won 2010 and 2014 so easily. Thankfully, we actually had the money to compete this time. I hate that guy so much and I hope he disappears sooner rather than later.

Taking out Tom MacArthur would be like the cherry on top. That guy was a big reason that the repubs actually got that horrid healthcare bill through the house. Thank god for John McCain.

What are you thinking?   Dems win NJ-03, CA-48, and CA-49?
