The Beto Effect - How To Lose Elections and Influence Nothing

Realistically, we all know Beto probably isn’t going to win, but I’m a huge fan of the guy.  He should always be remembered favorably for juicing democrat turn out in the state of Texas in off cycles 2 times in a row. We don’t have trouble getting people to show up for the presidential election, but we need all the help we can get turning people out for the midterms. Especially this one when Democrats are trying to beat back a “red wave”.

As a Texpatriate, Beto gets my support. Texas has descended into a dystopian reality that would be comical if real people were not in the line of fire. It is due for a correction before it is fully regarded as a joke.

If I could ask one thing of Beto is that he stand with two feet on the ground when making a point. He presents as shifty when he wildly animates his words. The words get lost when the mind attempts to translate the gestures.  It is a small criticism and certainly not a substantive complaint. He is miles better than the alternative.

it is amazing that he can't seem to help himself with that.  him getting up on the restaurant table to talk to two people completely killed his primary campaign.  it can be effective and charming in extremely small doses but just like the might be funny to you mother fucker clip, when he was describing the design use of ar-15 and clearing enemy houses in vietnam, why the fuck does he go down to the floor like that?  it is distracting and a bit cringey.  makes people feel like he's shifty.

i share your desire for him to stop overplaying that gesticulations.

Yeah, it was a bit weird to go into that much detail and the get down on one knee thing. Dude seems passionate, but sometimes you get stuff like that.

I'd still take it over "Let me be clear, I am a tough guy" Abbott.

Beto will be in Gainesville this Friday, and he’s speaking/rallying at the church I grew up in and where my parents are still members (and higher ups of some sort).  They are very, very excited and have been doing cleaning and touchups for over a week.  This church is one of the oldest Black churches in Gainesville and Cooke County.

Frisco on Saturday. Will be there.

looks like he's reading his script in case he gets a chance to confront him. But he won't. Because deep down he's a pussy.

He tried to interrupt but Beto told him if he kept quiet he would get first question.  It was as rambling as you expected. He even brought up 3 Wheel ATVs.

Compare to Ted Cruz. One is a true Texan, the other a sniveling Taco Bell and vodka night shit.

"I'm Ted Cruz and my pronouns are 'kiss my ass'"

vs.

"It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it's not to me."

Just bought my Beto shirt. Too bad they don't sell one that says "It may be funny to you, but it's not funny to me."

It will be so refreshing to have a governor who is not only bilingual but is multilingual and is able to employ a  lingua franca  understood by everybody.

This is weird shit to get hung up on.

it is not me that is hung up.  it is the average voter.  anyone that could possibly care about that in contrast with greg abbott being a complete piece of shit that is trying to send texas into a century of regression is a complete idiot.

but ask howard dean and beto o'rourke if it matters.

I do think it’s funny that people show up to Beto events just to troll or make a scene. Would anyone here go to an Abbott event just to start shit?

id assume not because we all have lives for the most part.

Honestly, what rational human would be against the things he's saying?

The rational ones aren’t. The irrational ones show up and vote in this state and outnumber the rational ones when it matters

The MFer clip must be going viral enough to reach some conservative bubbles  because I’ve already seen one of my usual conservative dipshit friends posting a Beto meme about his youth arrests on Facebook.

Part of me really wants to publicly remind him that we were close friends in high school through our early twenties.  I’ve seen him drink and drive.  I’ve seen him do illegal drugs. We’ve committed some petty crimes together you fucking hypocrite.  We just didn’t get caught.

Do it

My parents were there in Mineral Wells and told me Beto “had some strong words” for some idiot and another “badass” was open carrying his pew pew and got escorted out, but that’s the first time I’ve seen the clip. Nice to see him not get backed down and respond with real talk. We need more like him.

I wish Beto had security that would take these morons out into the parking lot and fuck them up bad. I don’t have an issue with a Republican going to a Beto event and asking some questions, but the ones who just want to cause trouble, scare and intimidate people are crossing the line.

No Trump on the ballot, the only inspiring character is Beto. He needs to bring Collier and Garza on these next stops.

I literally have no idea what Collier and Garzo look like. I've never seen them, heard them speak, seen an ad, billboard, yard sign.

Beto wins comfortably if the population centers vote in sufficient enough numbers to nullify any voting uptick in rural Texas.

I think he takes it, and have been saying it for awhile (maybe since the RvW debacle, I don’t recall). Noticed he was a bit more focused on the age when he told that idiot to stfu. Curious if he’s shifting some of his 2nd rhetoric to align with increased age etc.  Would secure a win for him, imo.

Looking forward to the inevitable thread about Bamachick getting arrested for illegally voting for Beto 8 times. getting selected to drive the Beto bus on the campaign trail and how she leaves piles of MAGA trucks in the ditch of I-35 after they try and run the bus off the road.

Sometimes the quiet reminder to him of just how many receipts you hold from a trip down memory lane is not amiss here.
