It should be illegal to relocate a franchise, change the name to something else, and retain any connection to the old uniforms. At least Cleveland was allowed to keep everything Browns related. You don't see the Oklahoma City Thunder doing a Supersonics throwback.

It's bullshit that Houston didn't retain the Oilers intellectual property while Cleveland did.

How does the NFL justify that? "Texans" is okay, but lame.

Earl Campbell never played a game in Tennessee.  He has zero to do with what that franchise is today.

Yep. Outside the obvious merch moneygrab, the point of a throwback uniform is that you strengthen your brand by allowing fans to reminisce about watching their team play in those uniforms again. Nobody in central Tennessee from the 60’s-90’s grew up watching and rooting for the Oilers or even had the slightest connection.

I just have a hard time believing a Tennessee based franchise’s bottom line is best served by a cheap moneygrab inspired by a decades old grudge between a dead Houston billionaire’s beef with a dead Houston mayor, as opposed to focusing on their own market.

Bleeding maroon as they do, they didn't wish to cause alarm by wearing uniforms that could appear to be soaked in their blood. Also, sometimes when they aren't pretending to be the Texas Longhorns, they have enough time also to pretend occasionally to be Texas Rangers.

But, who is UK pretending to be in their dull grey, trash bag ensemble?
