I recall Roy having those isolated sessions on HH with guitar greats who he admired.  The first and last time I ever saw Clarence Gatemouth Brown on TV, and the sole reason I have a CD of him.

Damn I missed this entirely until this morning. Certifiable wizard on the strings. Watching Hee Haw as a kid, Roy always seemed like he could have been part of your family. RIP

A week late on this but yeah... dude was a legend and also just a super nice guy.

He was born in Virginia but made his home in Tulsa.  I actually attended Roy Clark Elementary in the Union school district in Tulsa.  He would come every once in a while and take pictures with the kids and what not.  My parents have a pic of me with him when I was in kindergarten but I don't remember it, lol.  /csb
