This is big. Turkey still has some real power with the tribes in the Caucus plus can fuck Russia up in Syria. Wonder if they will still buy the S-300 systems.

Unleash the tribes, hit Putin in his nuts out of the mountains. Could he handle the Caucus with so much of his forces around Ukraine?

Turkey is also a NATO member

So he has no allies in this effort at all, right? Belarus doesn’t count. And China is more likely to take advantage of his weakness than anything else.

Syria recognized the independence of those regions.

Pakistan may not be far behind, and I'd imagine the usual suspects (Cuba, NK, etc.) may as well.

Doubt China will.

Estonia and Latvia could face the almost exact scenario as Ukraine so I'm sure they're concerned. From watching bald & bankrupt videos on youtube, whenever he visit the countries that border Russia, he often remarks that the culture and people are almost 100% Russian as you near the borders. Even down to the point that the people long for the days of Soviet rule, and feel they have nothing in common with their actual rulers.

And if the West does nothing to stop Putin, we also just handed the playbook for China and Taiwan. Not that I think it would occur immediately, China only needs to claim that a breakaway city/region of Taiwan is requesting their help.

No CR

Don't forget to mention Venezuela, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia.

This was mentioned earlier, but apparently Russia is going to push this even more in the coming days.

Edit: Not the only country to give them up, but they gave them up.

South Africa was the other country that gave up their nukes.

China didn’t do it for the Georgian states  or Crimea, so doubtful.

Make a pledge to Russia that Ukraine, Georgia or any other former Soviet republic will ever be a member of NATO. That and threaten Nordstream 2 and sanctions. That’s all that should be done. Looks we still have some neo-con war mongers that we need to flush out and get rid of.

Take it to the Cloak Room, asshole.

Maybe Israel will make a move on the the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in eastern Russia. Besides Israel, it's the only Jewish jurisdiction in the world.

Jews are less than 1% of the population in that Oblast and don’t run shit. It’s Jewish in name only.

And Belarus and Moldav, but SA was the only one that had created their own program, and Ukraine did it with assurances that Russia wouldn't fuck with them.

So do we think this is going to be a Russia vs Ukraine fight and the rest of the world just stands on the sidelines and shake their fists at Russia?

No one is getting into a shooting war with Russia over this. And that is the right decision, frankly. That’s an incredibly dangerous prospect.

What the west can do is make this very, very costly and embarrassing. The US has played this relatively well so far. American/British intel had the correct read. If the US can successfully parlay that decision into bringing Germany fully on board with heavy economic sanctions, up to and including NS2, you could end up with Russia making huge human and financial sacrifice to occupy a war torn Ukraine, with opposition forces armed by the west, severely limiting Russia’s ability to project military power elsewhere; additional sanctions and loss of access to Germans as energy customers creating major economic headwinds; and Finland and Sweden saying “nah fuck this we are not next” and joining NATO, into which they’d be integrated in like a week.

Who is the winner there?

People really underestimate how costly the West was able to make Afghanistan for the Soviet Union even with all of the problems of getting supplies and training into a landlocked area, and here we are with Ukraine in NATO's backyard.

Afghanistan helped bring about the downfall of the Soviet Union.  Would be hilarious if Ukraine brought down Putin.

Let’s not ignore the tax the Russia imposes on themselves in these cases by being drunk fuck ups that don’t build things good.

Every pic of Russian "tech" on Twitter feeds makes me lol. Shit is at least 20 years old.

People have an impression that what they see in various video games is what the Russian military actually looks like.  They didn't realize that the video game companies were making the Russians look far more high-tech/etc. than they are.

Now their missiles and tanks on the other hand...

Russia chairs the security council. This will be just so much pointless masturbation, but without the money shot and probably with extra chafing because no lube.

Yeah.  It's going to be blah blah blah.  Let's vote on sanctions.  Russia being a veto holding member says Niet.  Vodka.  And stumbles into Ukraine and rapes the women.

A small chunk of the world watching the UN livestream:  Wow, their decor is from the 1970s!

Most of the world watching the UN livestream: Holy shit, that UN decor is so modern-looking!

Is there wood paneling? Because I understand it’s making a comeback. Pretty much all that is popular now…except carpet in the bathroom…(even though we have the carpet style bath mats) which is evil.

Kenya jumping in. Love this!

Kenya "greatly concerned"

Martin Kimani for Kenya says his country is "gravely concerned" by Russia's actions in recognising Donetsk and Luhansk as independent.

He says Kenya was "birthed by the end of empire", adding that his country's borders were not of its people's own drawing.

Had we chosen to pursue states on the basis of ethnicity or religion "we'd still be waging wars", he says.

"We wanted something greater forged in peace."

He says Kenya also condemns the "trend of powerful members of the council breaching international law with little regard".

The only positive thing that can be said is that he's not denying that Russia isn't going to full-on invade Ukraine.
