There was a retired colonel on CNN talking about how the Russian military dwarfs the Ukrainian forces. 100% correct but Russia can't bring their full military down on Ukraine. Just as how the US never sent large %ages of our total forces to Afghanistan.

If NATO would impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, Russia loses this war. But of course, is there any path that a Russia defeat, with Putin still in power, that doesn't lead to a larger war? Putin can't lose this war and survive.

You have to have air superiority to enforce a no fly zone. How do you suggest gaining that superiority without engaging in military conflict with Russia?

Yep. The Russians are overrated pussies and the Chinese are even more overrated. Communism doesn’t work. It hollows out society and based upon lies heaped on top of lies. They lie to themselves and they don’t even know it.
We were shocked to find out how dismal shit was for them when the USSR fell and since then their country has been raped by a thuggish oligarchy and they’ve put no effort into building up the population. Their economy is about the size of Texas but not as diversified. This isn’t a great power- it’s a tin horn dictator who talks a lot of shit but he has nukes.
China is same same but even worse because they are still commies ruthlessly suppressing dissent and lying to themselves about literally everything.
for all that people talk shit on here about Americans and America and how stupid, lazy, whatever you want to say bad we are the average American runs circles around the average peasant from Russia or China and we wouldn’t uphold the average American as anything other than an incompetent moron around these parts.
The fact that they have nukes makes this shit hard to solve, but yeah- not impressed nor am I worried about the Chico’s getting frisky if we decide to shut them down.

I have worked with people from all over the world including Kazakhstan and Russia, and some that grew up in the Soviet Union. They were no dumber than anyone else. But I was told there was a PTSD element pervasive in the country because of the leadership and their oppressive tactics.

The Russian guy I worked with was a reservist in the military there. He said most people are and that they do it mostly to collect checks and the majority didn’t bother to show up for their training or checking in.

Seeing the pictures of some of the out of shape older guys captured seems to reinforce that picture.

I hope Alexi isn’t involved. But he was in shape, smart, and the right age. Sigh.

I’m at least wondering about it. But Biden won’t take my calls so what the fuck does it matter what I think. I hear you though.  Problem isn’t just nukes it’s about a spread of conflict with them across other theatres. That would really encourage ww3.

This whole "calling on the army to overthrow the leadership" shit is, uh, fucking bizarre.

I think we really might be dealing with a dude who may have completely lost it. That plus Zhakarova's wild statement re Finland and Sweden is really concerning.

We might be on the verge of Führer Bunker 2: Vladimir Boogaloo.

If Vlad wants to sit around surrounded by sychophants while he orders non-existents armies to attack then he shoots himself, yeah, that sounds good.

That’s the worrisome thing.  Russians should have been fighting 24/7 and the Kyiv should have been pounded all night.  It’s like they don’t have night-fighting capabilities and they aren’t able to sustain attacks. And they seem to be spread thin.  All of this combined makes it look like Russia is struggling, which means Putin may get really desperate.  He may have been buying his own bullshit that Ukrainians would join Russian troops.  Or his generals were bullshitting him about their capabilities.

Holy fuck the calmness in their voices. They’re just not phased at all by the gruesome reality of their lives. Cold ass motherfuckers.
Life is cheaper the farther east you go in that country. We have pockets of that type of mentality in our country, but Russia and Eastern Europe have whole regions.

There are verified photos of the aftermath of the shelling of a kindergarten called “Solenshka”(Little Sunshine)  in Okhtyrka. I won’t post them and don’t recommend anyone going to look at them.  Every elected leader across Europe and the U.S. should have to look at them before going to work.

The leader's spouses need to see those pictures too. More shit would get done then.

I think pretty much the only thing that most of America actually agrees about currently is that we're tired of playing world police and sending our young men and women overseas to die.

And since no politician wants to be held responsible for $5 gas, there's pretty much nothing we can do.

If the press conference he held prior to the invasion is any indication, everyone in his inner circle is terrified to tell him anything he doesn’t want to hear. His generals may have known that this would go poorly but didn’t want to be sent to the gulag.

Russia has taken a MASSIVE gamble.  As this plays out, they have a tiger by the tail.  There will be a significant amount of internal destabilization.  Heard they hoarded "some" cash reserves, but the cocktail of casualties, time, and world opinion are going to bleed them and bode well for Ukraine in the long term.

I'm suprised by the other Russian vehicles not wanting to engage and help the vehicle that was ambushed.  I guess it's possible that they didn't see it.

Yeah.  Reeks of desperation.  I’m sure we said the same thing in 91 and. 03 but we were also steamrolling the shit out of Saddam’s forces at the same time.

And in 91 and 03 we were rolling out lots of film through official channels showing our success.  That’s not coming out here, although that could be due to the Russians having some self-awareness that film of them killing Ukrainians would be bad. But if true, that then brings up the fact that they know this is wrong.

I don't think it's that desperate for RU forces. Yes they are getting resistance and embarrassed, but they're winning.  The real thing here is that Putin's pride is going to be hurt as the world realizes just how poor the quality of their military is from equipment to training. I'm sure our intel already knew that as they seem to know Putin's shit schedule, but now the world knows.

After reading all of your in depth posts in the weeks leading up, I'm going to be really interested to read your analysis on the backend of this in the weeks that follow.  I.e., how do the Germany people reflect on their weak response, energy/military policies, etc. in the context of watching a full on Russian invasion of a European country I'm sure most didn't actually think would ever happen.

We gave them the chance to surrender en masse and they did. That elite guard folded like a cheap tent. That’s what real shock and awe does. It really looks like Russia wanted to adopt our style and show the world, oops. They not only don’t have the capability, they also apparently didn’t know they didn’t have the capability. Just blunders all over the place.

I don't know why you think the German security apparatus is weak:

Angela Merkel’s purse stolen while shopping: Report
Germany’s iconic ex-chancellor had her purse stolen while shopping in Berlin, according to Bild daily
17:32 February 25, 2022

After over 16 years as one of Europe’s highest-profile leaders, Angela Merkel is learning that life out of public office brings its own set of challenges.

While out shopping, Germany’s iconic ex-chancellor had her purse stolen, local media reported on Friday.

Merkel was being escorted by her bodyguards while running shopping errands on Thursday, but she still fell victim to one of Berlin’s most common crimes, Bild daily reported.

The 67-year-old visited a police station after the theft and filed a complaint, according to the report.

There was no word on whether the unidentified thief tried to use the longtime leader’s ID card to impersonate Merkel, one of the world’s most famous faces both in Europe and worldwide.

Merkel, who served as German chancellor from Nov. 22, 2005 to Dec. 8, 2021, retired from active politics late last year.

Oh I’m sure they saw it.  Kinda hard to miss a stopped vehicle.  In theory you are supposed to drive through an ambush then then come back around to help your fellow soldiers, but the thing is, they are in a city and stopping to render aid when St. Javelin maybe looking down upon you is dangerous.  On the Warporn and combat footage subreddits there are lots of photos of Russian vehicles that were destroyed in ones and twos with Russian bodies lying around, like they got hit and their fellow soldiers didn’t bother sticking around or coming back to collect wounded or  bodies.  And lots of abandoned equipment.

I’m surprised Germany is such a limp dick. I’m not going to go into politics but relying on Russian energy and being pansy asses isn’t a good look on them, even worse they rely on US might to protect them. And they have a lot to lose here if Russia isn’t stopped at Ukraine. Just an odd acting country.
