Reports of Russian infantry targeting Ukraine libraries?  Seriously?  In 2022?

You know you're on the right side of history when you're destroying books and attacking libraries

To be fair to Russian military, some

of the books made white invaders feel uncomfortable.

Didn't quite stick the landing. Judge from Belarus gives the contestant an 8.5.

On serious note, this is the second or third recorded turret landing of this nature in the last 20 years. Yes, all of them were Russian tanks.

They've already been dubbed Russian sunflowers.

I’m so glad that Czech DefMin Cernochova told Orban to fuck off.  Zelenskyy called him out, too and the Poles have been telling him he’s on the wrong team here.

A little inside EU/NATO baseball, the Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, and Hungarians make up the V4 group. They tend to pursue joint action to counterbalance the Germans and French.  Makes lot of sense, they a bunch of similarities and overlapping interests.  They’re usually a pretty conservative group.

Anyway, there had been some griping within the group that Orban was exploiting it and turning it from a positive, interest based grouping to a shield to hide behind for his autocratic tendencies.  The Czechs were most uncomfortable, followed by the Slovaks and the Poles had found some common ground with him against the EU.

Anyway, Ukraine has kind of blown it up. It’s revealing the fracture between Poland and Hungary.  Poland really is simply a big Catholic conservative country and acts like one, but they aren’t sold out to Russia and they aren’t going to go full mini-Putin.  The Czechs are done being associated with Orban. He’s on an island now.

Kremlin TV Descends Into Screaming Match Over Putin’s War Failures

https://www.thedailybeast.com/russian-state-television-descends-into-screaming-match-over-vladimir-putins-war-failures-in-ukraine

“In January, experts on the same show estimatedthat Russia could overtake the entire neighboring country in a matter of 11 minutes. Their current predictions have shifted from minutes to decades for the Russian armed forces to achieve Putin’s goals in his senseless war against Ukraine.

Korotchenko surmised, “It’s obvious that the process of denazification of Ukraine will take the minimum of 15-20 years.” He predicted that the Russian troops would have to remain on Ukrainian territory, with the Russian military in charge of the entire country for the foreseeable future: “Whether this will take 15, 20 years or more, time will tell.”

General Shamanov was even more pessimistic, as he grimly anticipated that it would take the “re-education” of at least two generations of Ukrainians before they would welcome or tolerate Russia’s dominance. He also noted that Russia’s one-million-man armed forces aren’t enough to meet such a challenge, calling for massive increases to the country’s military might. Shamalov concluded: “Today, it can be clearly predicted that we will have to remain in Ukraine for 30-40 years.”

Russian propaganda or state media does not accurately tell you what is happening in Russia or the world, nor is it an effective way to get an insight into actual Russian decision making.  But it can be a useful medium to help you make educated predictions about what Russia may do in the future.

Here I believe we can see the seeds for a long-term frozen conflict and direct Russian administration of Donbas. That tracks with the announcements of a “new phase” in the war.  It also sets up Russians to endure privation as more and more of a shrinking state budget gets funneled to the military.

Good god.  That was one of the most prominent holocaust memorials outside of Germany and Poland.  Maybe the most.  The attempts to explain it away will be sickening, probably involving blaming Jews themselves.

of all the lies to believe in this day and age, ‘the denazification of Ukraine’ is perhaps at the top of the list.   Everything from Covid to Ukraine, I simply did not understand how proud of stupidity we could be.

the Iron Age, the Bronze Age, the Stupid Age.  History is not going to be kind to us.  But that’s okay, books are for commie fags.

Seeing that Blinken, Biden and the Ukrainian Foreign and Interior Ministers are meeting in Warsaw. This was not an announced meeting for obvious reasons.  It’s a good sign that the Ukrainians felt secure enough to travel even to a NATO state.

There may be no better illustration of Russian doctrine than this.  They do not adapt on the fly.  They are a top down command, and when an objective is considered essential they will keep throwing themselves at it.  The crazy part is they continue to amass enormous losses here.

I listened to a NYT The Daily on Poland accepting so many Ukrainian immigrants. They desperately need immigrants in their work force, but many Ukrainians are children. Basically, the Pols are doing it out of kindness/ long play.

Either way, good for them.

@956 Worldwide @Shady Ray

Any updates on the general public perception in Germany/EU at the moment? We are past the initial shock phase and was curious how strong their sanction sentiment was running. Would love to see a quick Russian capitulation but this could easily become a multi year economic struggle. Definitely need EU on board and committed if we are ever going to bury this neo-Soviet nonsense.
