World War II defensive lines even though Ukraine has lots of accurate long-range artillery and HIMARS and drones, and a very mobile army.

Interestingly enough, we just started sending them M30A1 rounds for their HIMARS

Quote

The new rockets are highly effective against trucks and other soft-skinned vehicles, which the Russian forces appear to be using increasingly. They are also extremely lethal against infantry; the M30A1 can burst high overhead, so shallow trenches provide little protection. Russia’s 300,000 new conscripts are likely to suffer heavy casualties as soon as they arrive.

Quote

The secret of the M30A1 lies in a huge number of tungsten BBs arranged around an explosive core – about 182,000 of them. The design is from a technology known as Lethality Enhanced Ordnance developed by Orbital ATK, later acquired by Northrop GrummanNOC -1.5%. This approach uses computer modeling to calculate the optimum size, number, density and placement of fragments to ensure that a warhead produces the maximum possible effect against a specific type of target. The developers claim that the M30A1 produces the same sort of lethality as the cluster warhead. This blanketed an area of over four football fields per rocket, so a salvo of six would blanket half a square mile.

Pretty sure the Ukrainians can drop Excalibur rounds in to the trenches.  The Russian troops are going to be running for their lives within the first 5 minutes of the artillery barrage.

This is exactly what the Excalibur rounds are for.  As in all things small arms combat: movement is life. By fixing their troops in exposed positions, it allows guided artillery munitions to focus on them.  Park a TB2 up high, overlay a GPS grid…

Then take it by eminent domain.

The US government doesn't need to have any entanglements with Elon Musk.  None.  Zero.  He consistently supports autocracies and opposes American interests.  Fuck him.  Fuck all these fucking fucks who embrace autocracy and oppressive regimes.  Especially fucking oligarchs who do so -- sure, YOU don't think oppressive regimes are all that bad, because you've got enough money to sit on the "oppressors" side of the room, where there are comfy couches and mini giraffes and shit.  Fuck Elon Musk in the goat ass with a giant rusty pitchfork.

As for me, I'll side with human beings who stand for the wild and crazy ideas of having the right of self determination on the soil on which they reside.  That used to be an American ideal.  Remember that?  I sure as shit fucking do.

Maginot Line 2.0? That mindset is damn near 100 years old!

"The Maginot Putin Line had two major failings – it was obviously not mobile and it assumed that the Ardennes Ukrainian farmland was impenetrable. Any attack that could get around or over it would leave it floundering like a beached whale."

Love the first post, fuck the second one. The issue with maps is once produced, and if accepted, it is hard to change them back.

We made a map that took in large parts of New Mexico and went all the way up to Colorado. It basically exists as t-shirts and office art for our healthy Texan egos.

But let’s face it, no one else believes it.

Same stuff, different continent.

It actually went to Wyoming. And that map stood for 14 years, which was five years even after being annexed by the United States. So not only did a lot of people believe it, it was also fully recognized by the US government. The map only changed to it's current form in 1850 when Texas agreed to it in exchange for some debt forgiveness.

I am not sure why you are trying to make this comparison because the reasons for the Texians deciding to annex that territory couldn't possibly be further from the reasons of the current discussion.

Or just update and send out new ones.   Or get an X-ACTO knife.

I had a teacher in high school who told the story of working in Egypt at an English Language school there (her husband was in US Army and stationed there).  They were there before peace treaties were signed with Israel, so late 70's.  Their school ordered 20 blow-up/inflatable globes, which were like beach balls with the world map and countries on them.    BUT, they had ordered them from somewhere that showed Israel as a country.   Egyptian customs cut out Israel from each of the blow-up globes and then repackaged them and sent them to the school with a hole where Israel use to be.

And once we get an answer from the Saudi regime on that dilemma, we should ask Sir Mixalot to finally clarify his opinion on big butts and open an investigation into whether OU sucks or not.

Yep, and in Guatemala maps show Belize as part of it. Ecuador controls a lot more land on one of their maps, big chunks of Northern Peru.

Maps are fun. Oh, and Fuck Putin.

That map was a figment of overactive Texan minds.  They never had control of anything close to it as the residents of Santa Fe made very clear.

Just as the map above is an example of overactive Russian minds and the residents of Ukraine have made clear.

This was the point.

Just linking, because there are bodies, including nudity, but basically the Russians and Russian state media are claiming that a video of a pit with civilian bodies was done by the Ukrainians, but there were already videos out there of the Russians filming themselves marching civilians to the pit and then rolling their corpses into it, because of course Russians film their warcrimes,
