lol, they sold all their ammo to Academy and it is in the closets of people all across the U.S.

I have a few boxes of their ammo in my safe. On one hand, I wish I had more, as every box could be ammo that they might have for their troops, but on the other hand, that ammo provided them with with money to wage this war and they probably wouldn't have made as much if not for the American market. Biden (not trying to get cloaks here, just stating actual facts) put sanctions on on imports of Russian ammo for poisoning foreign folks or something like that, which was something he had the authority to do under some act or somesuch. It didn't sit well with a lot of folks because Russian ammo has usually been the cheapest plinking ammo out there and they felt like it was just a way for him to attack gun owners. I wonder if there was any intel about Putler's plans that actually influenced that decision.

Since you didn't throw a "(no pics)" into your post, I believe Surly bylaws require you to furnish one.

By invoking article 2 of the charter, we herby demand pics of the Norwegian exchange student. Sanctions will be enforced without this photographic evidence.

Holy shit, what a dumb fuck. They have casinos in Europe, he should have taken his luck to one of those.

Vegas? That’s probably a piece of shit who said “I don’t need all my fingers and can handle some pain if it means unlimited civilian rape.” Russian Army is his Las Vegas.

Long-term repercussions for Russian energy sales. Even if some nations hold off on nuke plants, others can build them and pick up the slack and/or sell the excess.  Edit: it will be a pain in the ass for the short term, but long term, they will be free of Russia.

for reference, Sweden was getting 30% of their natural gas from Russia.

That's 9+ months of it being more or less unusable, correct? I mean...fuck. This completely fucks them, right? If they want now they could just terrorize the repair crews to delay it even further.

I would assume it gets partially fixed and is usable well before then, but Russia is a mafia operation on a massive scale, so you gotta pay the barge guys, the rebar guys, the porta-potty guys, the concrete guys, the rail guys, the painters, the crane guys, etc., etc.

Speaking of the bridge, no more strikes for now.   Because reasons   Or running low on missiles.

The article goes into detail about the fact that SpaceX didn't pay for most of them, and it's fuzzy about the monthly service fees - no way SpaceX/Musk is allowing those bills to run up into the tens of millions or hundreds of millions without having said something before now.

Whole thing seems odd on SpaceX's part.

If you start with the idea that he is an attention whore then it all makes sense.

What are the odds, that even at this point, that his generals aren't telling Putin that they're running out of weapons? I mean, it seems impossible, but at this point considering their behavior, doesn't their choices and actions make that seem likely? How else do you keep popping these off for stupid reasons?

Don't want to go CR here, so just hitting the 30,000 foot view: while far less than thrilled about the outsized power the far-right party has after the recent Swedish elections, I am all in favor of this decision, and I wish more fuckers would realize the same.

If you want to get off of the drugs that Russia is selling you, and using to hold you hostage, AND you want to generate energy that doesn't belch carbon into the air, modern nuclear power generation is a proven, reliable, and (in these regions at least) safe choice.  GO FOR IT.

Could city fall in a week? "It is conceivable that something happens within a week, but it's also perfectly conceivable that it doesn't."

That’s some crack reporting right there.

Some speculation that Ukraine is going to leave the Russian garrison in Kherson for a while longer to bleed them and keep their supply chains stretched out and vulnerable to Ukraine artillery.

Ouside of the Ukrainian citizens trapped in the city, what's the rush to actually attack it?  To me, it's like Rabaul, cut it off and starve em out.

Wait until the bridge has a bunch of equipment and workers on it, then hit them and the bridge.  Rinse and repeat as necessary.

yea, you gotta think there isn't a bunch of that repair equipment rolling around Russia. Take out the heavy equipment...make working on the bridge almost a suicide mission...it will never get fixed.
