So there’s weird shit about a Russian ship off the coast of England full of ammonium nitrate, adrift according to some, possibly near some oil and gas infrastructure.  It was turned away from ports in other countries.  Wonder if Putin is trying to send a message.

They say anchored. Whole thing is weird.   It’s got he Brits jumpy.

That is pretty fucking weird.  One the one hand, Russkies are shady as fuck.  On the other, they truly suck maritime shit.  Admiral Kuznetzov and the smattering of sunken nuke subs out front shoulda toldja.

I read something about his ship last week on Reddit in one of their Ukraine-related threads. Then, the primary concern was it blowing up underneath the bridge linking Copenhagen, Denmark, to Malmo, Sweden. At the time, it was believed the ship was trying to return to Russia (St. Petersburg?) by way of the Baltic Sea. According to your link, I guess the concern was significant enough that Denmark said no way, no how, not gonna happen, wouldn't be prudent.

Btw, I sympathize with any concern. Imagine a blast seven times this size.

New Nuke doctrine in the making.

Vladimir Putin says Russia would consider an attack from a non-nuclear state that was backed by a nuclear-armed one to be a "joint attack", in what could be construed as a threat to use nuclear weapons in the war in Ukraine.

In key remarks on Wednesday night, the Russian president said his government was considering changing the rules and preconditions around which Russia would use its nuclear arsenal.

Read the article. Proof Russia sucks at navy things.

Scandinavian authorities, including those in Norway and Denmark, have denied entry to the MV Ruby following significant damage to its hull and rudder sustained when the vessel ran aground shortly after departing the port of Kandalaksha, Russia.

Also, heading to Malta but only if it unloads? Where is it going to unload? Imagine that fucker going boom in the Straits of Gibraltar. Um, yeah, that could impact global trade.

well shit...

guess this means that if hes saying they can now launch nukes... that hes just threatened the world with a nuke strike... so, i guess we just need to nuke the whole fucking country from orbit.  just to be sure.   everyone needs a little extra radiation in their air, water and food.

Fake command posts, electromagnetic decoys and fast-moving mission control hubs are some of the ways the war in Ukraine has transformed U.S. Army training in Europe:

US Army/DOD reorganizing how special operations in Europe is led/based, and going from a one-star general in command of just US special operations to an American three-star general in charge of US and NATO special operations.

A leadership makeover aimed at improving how U.S. special operators work with allies in Europe is in the works, military officials said this week. The change involves turning the Stuttgart-based U.S. Special Operations Command Europe into a three-star headquarters with its commander serving in a dual role as head of NATO’s special operations command. The change “will better align SOF operations, activities and investments,” SOCEUR spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Bogart said in a statement Wednesday. “Furthermore, it ensures a more efficient allocation of resources and personnel, where SOF assets can be rapidly deployed in support of NATO or U.S. missions as needed,” he said.

Quote

The move is in line with how other top positions are structured, such as U.S. European Command, whose leader also serves as NATO’s supreme allied commander from an office in Belgium. The heads of the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force in Europe lead corresponding NATO commands. Last week, the Pentagon announced that Army Maj. Gen. Richard E. Angle had been nominated for a third star to head up SOCEUR and the Allied Special Operations Forces Command.

A pretty big deal.

But the orange, fat fucking regard says Ukraine is completely destroyed and will take a hundred years to rebuild!

To be fair the Donbas region and Kharkiv etc are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. I imagine places like Mauripol are a hellacious hell scape . Kyiv has time to shoot down incoming missiles etc and those places do not. The ground there will take god knows how long to demine. There are still minefields in Bosnia.

Bosnia?

Hell as has been pointed out here and other places multiple times, there are still minefields in France from WWI.

When were you in Bosnia? Hike Mt. Igman or Trebovic?

Not anytime relevant to the wars, 2017. Dont remember in particular but it was going from the Croatian border into Bosnia. I know on the Bosnian side under the mountain we hiked there was a bunker/airfield from Yugo.

Croatia is the longest Bosnian Border. That is like saying Texas Border with Mexico. Some of those areas saw almost zero war. Some were completely depopulated. There are airfields everywhere.

Serbs and Croats, the chosen European defenders of either Central Europe or Slavic Europe (Depends on what Church you like) both mined the fuck out of that place. And it is still not the worse place on earth.

Except College Station, of course.

Except their mines are sheep turds and jars of jizz. Still gotta be careful, but not as bad as a homemade bouncing betty or a ruskie fire and forget mine.

Ignore, the title, part of it was a discussion of the shootdowns of the Russian A-50’s. One, they used old S-200s that had been re-engineered and the other, they were trained by the Germans and snuck a Patriot system up within 5-6 miles of the frontline and then surprised the A-50. Also talk of the other ambushes they’ve pulled off. Americans don’t think of using Patriots as a way to ambush important aircraft but rather as area-denial, but the Germans planned out such a scenario and trained the Ukrainians to pull it off.

Putin still thinks this is Russia.

This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 67th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November 1984. This broadcast is perhaps the most well known of the Soviet era parades. Not only is it the famous year from George Orwell's novel of the same name, but it's the last parade where the "old guard" was in full leadership before Gorbachev. Taking the salute is First Minister of Defense, Marshal of the Soviet Union Sergei Sokolov (He passed away in 2012 at the age of 101. He was the oldest living Soviet Marshal). Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, General of the Army Petr Lushev. (Marshal Ustinov was unable to attend the parade due to illness. He would later pass away on 20 December 1984.)

Mines? DMZ. EOD, another mean mother fucker,

Another forgotten place littered  with mines is North Africa. Battles went back and forth, mines were everywhere.

There are different doctrines for mines. Russian, mine everything (Fuck it Sergei, drop some more). NATO, mine as moving and defense. Know where they are for the most part (not artillery or air fired). Guerillas mine where moving or to deny movement.

Don't get me wrong, Bosnia/Ukraine are heavily mined. Always was very careful in Bosnia and I still would be. Those fuckers tend to stay around.
