The ruble stuff is worse than being reported.  Everyone says “worst since March 2022”.  Technically true but that was just a very transitory blip because of the start of the war.  This is isn’t transitory.

Mar 2022 is that short downward spike in the middle here.

Came here to post this but it keeps getting worse by the minute. Remember, it just crossed over 100 a week ago and that was a big deal. We might be in full collapse.

Helpful analysis from Bloomberg, but again the numbers are way off because it was written... earlier today.

https://archive.is/sYQ11

Quote

“The current trend of a weakening ruble may prove sustainable on the horizon of 2025,” Rosbank wrote. The analysts forecast the ruble may reach 119.8 versus the dollar next year due to geopolitical tensions and the lack of incentives for authorities to limit exchange-rate volatility.

... It might hit 119 later today.

Last month (https://archive.is/7HK3H) Bloomberg reported the Russians expected 96.5 in 2025...

Quote

Economy Ministry forecasts show the government is planning for a weaker currency, with officials expecting an average of 96.5 rubles per dollar in 2025 compared with 91.2 this year.

But "100 isn't so scary"

Quote

“In the current situation, 100 rubles per dollar isn’t so scary, although it does have a certain inflationary effect,” said Oleg Vyugin, a former top Bank of Russia official.

Not to put a big damper on things.....but it's not just the ruble.  The dollar is on a solid run.  Euro is down to 1.05, pound is down to 1.25 (I pay attention to both, as I send money to a kid on each currency).  Yeah, the ruble is taking a bigger beating than most other currencies (precipitous drop in the last two weeks against ALL currencies), but some of what you're seeing in the charts above is a strong dollar.  The ruble to euro chart is maybe more accurate (and it too shows a cliff the ruble fell off of).

"Sergei, shut off the damn machine so we can save the economy."

"But Boris, it does not work that way, it will still change."

"Sergei, you fool, but they will not know. Come, lets get a vodka while we can still afford it. Oh, did you get our bitcoin transferred?"

"No Boris, I forgot, I was busy counting potatoes."

Russian sources report that during todays “Pro-Turkish forces attack on Assad’s army in Syria near the province of Aleppo.” a group of Russian special forces was destroyed. Here's what Russian military sources say: “This morning in the Syrian province of Aleppo, in its northwestern part, the Idlib militants began their offensive. The cowardly creatures called "Sadiks" performed their favorite maneuver and began to flee not only on foot, but even on tanks. Once again, thus setting up ours. Unfortunately, there is a sad outcome for one of the Russian units. Photos and videos are already being published online. The events are reminiscent of February 2020, when the fleeing Syrians also set up four FSB Special Operations Center employees, who unfortunately died in battle.”

Who the fuck is this guy?

He’s the end for Ukraine.

“During the Trump–Ukraine scandal, which led to Trump's impeachment (and subsequent acquittal), Kellogg said he "heard nothing wrong or improper" in Trump's call with the Ukrainian president.[24]

In June 2024, Kellogg and Fred Fleitz, who both served in Trump’s National Security Council staff, presented Trump with a detailed peace plan to end Russia's war in Ukraine.[29] The plan entailed that the United States would tell Ukraine that it would only receive more American military aid if it entered into peace talks with Russia, and that a ceasefire would be based on the prevailing battle lines.[29] Fleitz said Trump has responded favorably to the plan.”

Bottom line, Ukraine needs to surrender everything to Russia.

Glad we have the world’s best negotiator on the job.

He's also a huge outspoken critic of the 'slow burn' approach that the current admin has taken and has said repeatedly that we will need to arm Ukraine faster and better in order to get the most desired outcome.

So which do you believe will happen in the next administration? That we will arm Ukraine faster and better?  Or that we will demand they give up their land and the lives shed in defense of it for a "peace" deal agreed to by a lying psycopath who has told us he wants to "recreate" the Russian Empire?

I think we'll arm Ukraine faster and better until Russia caves to some form of negotiated peace.   Neither side will be particularly happy with the negotiated peace....but that's kind of how those things work.  It sucks, but that's the best case scenario right now without directly putting NATO troops on the ground.

From your lips to god's ears.  I would wish exactly the same.

Lets put a pin in this and see how it goes, shall we?

I'll just say, I find that proposition...dubious.

That's fine.  But looking at things from all angles, it's the most logical outcome right now from my vantage point.

Well current battle lines include Ukraine controlling some area of Kursk, no?   So do an all for all land trade.  Still doesn’t solve the peninsula though.

Just give zelensky the sharpie and let him draw it. Maybe the poles and finns can chime in on what the Russian Empire really means. I am sure the Turks have some ideas.

Yeah IDK man, I'm pretty sure Ukraine's aid is gonna come to a swift end. They're already sharpening their knives over the failed attempt to blackmail Zelensky, which does not signal support for their war against Russia

This was the part that it appears many have forgotten.  That fucking guy is going to be pretty pissed off he got found out, even though Zelenksy was just the guy on the other end of the phone.  We all know who he'll take it out on. Apoligies for CR adjacent, but not really.
