What's so fucking aggravating is that if we had simply provided steady aid from the start we would be lining up in the victory formation. Maybe not winning a national championship but the equivalent of an unranked team knocking off #2 in the nation. Instead today we have our QB ready to take a knee but instead executes the buttfumble to perfection. Fucking pathetic.

Well, it IS a turning point.  When the books are written, February 28, 2025 will be the date that the world completely realigned, without any question or ambiguity.  The axis is now the US and Russia.  The allies are....all of the former allies of the US.  The US is not only no longer an ally of any of the countries that were allies mere weeks ago, we are an openly hostile enemy.

France, the UK, Canada, Mexico.....everyone (except Putin's Russia) should treat the US as a hostile state.  They should cease all intelligence sharing, military cooperation, everything.  They should gear up for war, coming at them from two directions.

Oh, and if you have any members of the military in your family, you need to have the hard but short conversation with them: they took an oath not to this regime, but to the Republic and the Constitution.  When the time comes for US forces to take hostile action against Canada, Europe, and the like....they have a duty not just to refuse those orders, but to turn their weapons on those who would attack our allies (and let's not sugarcoat it, they will also attack our fellow American states who do not go along with the regime).

A hot war is a near-certainty at this point.  And the Trump-governed United States will be the bad guy.

You actually think that the United States should 1) side with Vladimir Putin, and 2) openly attack all of our allies?

What the actual fuck is fucking wrong with you?

That is not at all what I said. And this board is so politically quick on the trigger that I was pretty harshly negged for it, so I’m just going to fuck off and forget any discourse.

First, the order was working pretty fucking well for Americans.  So get fucked on that.

Second, never in a million fucking years is that fucking guy capable of accomplishing a peace deal.  He's an absolute useful idiot for Putin, no more, no less. Look around you.  Everything he is doing is hollowing out what has ACTUALLY made America great.  He's a piece of shit.  You should consider what that makes you for supporting him.

I’ve never supported him in my life. I hate the man.

Yeah Rex, you need to add a little more content after you make a statement like that. Because most of us can’t think of a way where the entire global order can be uploaded that doesn’t involve the death of tens of millions of people and WWWIII.

IMG_4209.gif.a00515df09a6b08ccf0a242022f718d3.gif

This is the social situation where it’s OK to make a statement like that.  Not on this thread with this crowd.

I figured this was going to happen…you just knew they were going to goad and insult VZ so they can throw around red meat of ‘see, we can’t support this disrespectful guy and he’s obviously negotiating in bad faith…guess we are forced to go direct with Russia’.

Just fuckin awful, and like those cheering the idea of shutting down these foreign aid programs…will have long term, far reaching consequences that damage US power projection

I'm honestly not sure if I'm an isolationist or a war hawk. I think there are times and places where people "over there" need to deal with their own shit. But I also think that to whom much has been given, much is required.

I know Ukraine was a shit show for a long time... And maybe still kind of is. But when you are on the presipice ( if that's even a word) of totally dismantling one of the worst bad actors in world history how you can't just do the bare minimum. The rapes and murders and torture are not made up. Russia is a shit hole and always has been and always will be. How you could take their side is mind bottling. Trump is a simpleton. He just needs to be told that Ukraine winning is better for him than the alternative.

Truly incredible day. Can you imagine if Regan (no CR) had the ability to completely kneecap the ussr with putting no American lives at stake and the only cost is giving billions and billions of dollars to American companies and unloading our warehouses?  Fucking Idiocracy right now. I don't even understand the end game.

I think the thing that is most aggravating is that Zelensky never waivered on the point that without strong assurances of security that Ukraine would NOT sign the minerals deal.  Apparently the orange douche and his sidekick were aggravated pre-Oval office meeting when Zelensky stuck to his position and went into the meeting angry over his lack of willingness to deal.  Ukraine may lose or Zelensky resign or both because they are running out of options, but it won't be because those slack-jawed motherfuckers intimidated or outnegotiated him.

It astonishes me that people can see what is happening and somehow feel like we have the moral highground.

The $5 Million Trump Gold Card discussion had me thinking about "The New Colossus" on the base of Lady Liberty...

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I think we ought to just tape a big MAGA sign over it and end any charade that may still exist.

I'm so fucking pissed!!

I don’t think they think we have the moral high ground.  They don’t fucking care.  We had a black guy in the WH and trans!!!!!

So now it’s burn everything down.

It’s not that difficult, you add security guarantees you get your mineral deal and peace. His butt buddy doesn’t want foreign troops next to him though so that’s a deal breaker.  Wtf does he actually gain by listening to Putin?  They don’t have a lot to offer right now.

He’s a fucking asset and has been an asset for decades. Unfortunately too many people in this country, and on this website, are fucking morons who put their fingers in their ears when this is pointed out.

Presumably an agreement was close.  A final agreement would be one they had something for each party, even if unequal.

What I'm saying is, Trump blew up his own deal.  A deal that had more for us than for Ukraine.  The Art of the Deal indeed.

Yes.  He blew it up because Russia didn't like it.  And the number of times that Trump will choose not to do EXACTLY what Putin wants will forever remain at 0.0 times.

Leaving billions of dollars of weapons in Afghanistan and having the Taliban literally walking to the capital unchecked didn’t move the needle for you?

It's almost like he keeps doing this, and then parlaying the resulting mess into yet another power play. He torpedoed a massive immigration reform bill just so he could campaign against it.

AND IT FUCKING WORKED!

No. We armed and trained terrorists to fend off the USSR. That didn’t work out so well either.

Well, all is good now.  We just realigned ourselves, completely and totally, with the USSR (let's not kid ourselves, Putin is reconstituting the USSR), and also....this is the super-awesome best part....we are OPENLY attacking and threatening our allies.  We are fucking threatening fucking CANADA with invasion and occupation.

We are the bad guys.

Fuck that, we are actually the WORST guys.  We turned on literally all of our friends, and are shitting all over them with a firehose of shit.  But we can't suck Russia's dick hard enough.

And you're good with that.  This country doesn't deserve to continue.

This isn't the thread for this. There's a thread for discussion directly involving politics.

The impact of the meeting and mineral deal blowing up is on limits. The direct aftermath strategically is on limits. Speculation of next steps is on limits.

The next step is direct US military action against Ukraine.  Well, maybe not immediately next, but it's coming.  US troops will be fighting in concert with Russian troops before the year is out.  US troops loyal to their oath will not be doing so.

I think it’s a matter of when, not if, another European country or two joins the nuclear club.  If I’m Poland, I’m building some nukes.

Poland, which has its own shared unique history with Israel, shares a similar sentiment: Never Again. Most people take that in the pacifist, positive way.

But that’s not how either country means it.

Well, the disinformation now is that Russia then was commie SoCIaLiStS.  Now they're a Christian country.

But the reality is the problem has always been Russia, regardless of the regime.  Tsars, Soviets, oligarchs, it's always been shitty.
