New UKR interceptor drone in the wild - photo caught by RUZ surveil drone

Ukraine’s Defense Forces have reportedly begun deploying new interceptor drones, according to a report from the Telegram channel BPLA Inform on March 17.

The channel shared a photo and a video fragment of an unknown UAV, noting that this particular type of drones had not been previously observed in use.

“During its flight, a Russian reconnaissance drone captured footage of an unidentified UAV, which was quickly identified as an interceptor—likely Ukrainian. It appeared to be attempting to take down the enemy drone,” BPLA Inform wrote.

The shadow of shame of the US for not being there for Ukraine will be cast far into the future.  The consequences will be far reaching.  I can only hope that when the era of insanity has passed, we can rebuild the relationship with Europe.  What an utter embarrassment and catastrophe.

Let’s not get carried away.

France and Germany are still buying Russian energy, three years after Bucha. (Others may be, too, those are the ones I googled). I know, energy is a commodity, but I have to think that rejecting Russian energy would allow Russia’s remaining customers (China, India) to start screwing them on terms.

The EU has issued a white paper on how a renewed Euro interest in defense could manifest in spending nearly a trillion Euros over the next few years. The EU has suggested that budget restrictions, keeping them from borrowing to spend on defense, could be lifted. I don’t think they have enacted it yet. (The UK is not in the EU, and they could be increasing spending on defense right now, but aren’t. Does it take a vote in Parliament? I really don’t know).

The WSJ had a sourced news article this weekend. After the disastrous Oval Office meeting, Zelensky flew to London to meet with the European leaders, where they affirmed their support for Ukraine. Then, Macron and Starmer told Zelensky he needed to go back to the U.S. and make nice.

Is the U.S. acting childish? Sure. Are the Euros acting like adults? Well,…sort of, almost,…we’ll see. Russia rolling into Crimea in 2014 didn’t spur them to wean off Russian energy or increase their defense spending, going into Ukraine again three years ago didn’t spur them. Let’s hope they do so, now.

Perun's video that I posted either on this page or the previous talked about the whole borrowing thing and that it's actually recommended, and he did a deep dive on the economics of military spending.  And he mentioned that a rise in European defense industries will hurt American defense industries.

Scaling that thing seems like a major priority.  As they increase the range, the potential target count goes up.  More.  Need more drones.

Don't mind statsman over there chugging the copium to assuage his guilty conscience.

He's found a single data point on which to hang all excuses and rationalizations for our cheeky and "childish" shenanigans, so he started posting in the thread again last week when he learned that Euros are still buying a lot of Russian gas because, you see, the regime couldn't possibly be behaving in a way that seriously undermines our status as the leader of the Free World, which we've held for at least the last 80 years.

This is all just fun and games, though. I can't believe people actually Krasnov's trivial teasing of our allies so seriously.

In a non and low stealth environment, the Ukrainians have to be onsidered one of the world drone leaders.

You’re right, Bolverk. I have nothing to offer to this discussion. Won’t make the mistake again.

With NK troops in Ukraine, it may be only a matter of time before other countries get involved. Poland has been itching for an excuse to join the fighting

Shoulda claimed it was Belarus and started massing troops on their border, make Putin sweat a bit.

I hate to burst y’all’s bubbles, but I am pretty sure Putin destroyed his own Sochi palace in the fall to avoid the embarrassment of the Ukrainians doing it.

I mean, in the end, it’s still the same result. Just less fun.

The U.S. got rolled today. Putin refused the ceasefire offer, countered with something else that Putin will not implement, and pitched a bunch of bullshit to pump up Trump’s ego like hockey games.

The goal is to get the United States to pressure Ukraine into something unacceptable and then drive a wedge between the U.S. and Europe.  Russia is doing its own reverse Nixon on us and everyone around our president is either too stupid or venal to notice or care.

Also, the NSC is understaffed and lacking any actual real-world Russia expertise and none of the people they could hire will pass Trump’s political litmus tests.  Lots of self-inflicted harm here.

The US is now at best a neutral vulture at this point with our leaders waiting for kickbacks after Russia kills Ukraine. We’re the baddies. US policy is now performative.

It’s performative in favor of the Russians.

Also important: Trump announced “energy and infrastructure” ceasefire and Putin announced “energy infrastructure ceasefire.”

This is because Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure hurt Putin, and he knows that Ukraine will not engage in large attacks on civilian infrastructure.  Putin will attack Ukrainian civilians (and never offered not to), and honestly cares more about his refineries than the entire oblast that surrounds them.

Likewise, Ukraine has no maritime military assets to attack except drones, while Russia has many.  If implemented, Russia would be “graciously” agreeing to stop bombing grain ships to protect its own missile barges.  The terms are all upside for Russia.

We will try to browbeat Ukraine into accepting this, and will not treat missile launches into hospitals and apartments as a breach.

But every defense contract that goes to a European company (or Korean) that could have gone to an American company, that's going to really sting for a long time, because that trade won't come back.

I’m more worried about all of the Intel from our allies that they will no longer give us because they know dip shit will give it to Putin.   That definitely makes America weaker and more vulnerable to her foes.

And since we shit on our allies and tell them we will cast them adrift unless they do the whims of the petulant orange toddler, when China finally goes for Formosa and we ask for NATO’s help - they’re all gonna say, “new phone who dis?”
