The “Donbas Devushka,” who is really Sarah Bils, a former Navy NCO, gave an interview to RT. A reminder, she had claimed to be a Russian speaking Jew living in Luhansk, but she really built a disinfo empire from her place in Washington in cooperation with other vatniks.

I hope she enjoys Leavenworth with Teixeira

More on the NS explosions and the Russian submersible; this is a great account for all things Russian navy.

This whole episode has been a case study in how lies get around the world before the truth ties its shoes. And even now, because responsible people are reporting, it can’t go farther than “we know this ship with this submersible was in this place on these dates.”

Still nowhere to be found- Ukrainian commandos, U.S. navy divers on Norwegian ships, remote control detonators, or “Anglo-Saxons.”

That kid seems like a punk, the type where you’d hope the military would help instill a sense of self and belonging and growing up, but it didn’t.  It’s really relevant that he was sharing this stuff with a bunch of teenage game nerds, he was deeply wanting to fit in and be respected.

Lots to talk about WRT the clearance process and how outdated/looking at the wrong stuff it is, but this isn’t the thread. Suffice to say that the entire apparatus is aimed at people who want to undermine security because of foreign sympathies or ties or blackmail or money— but a blind spot for people who are just plain local extremists and shitheads. It will be interesting to see how the Greenwalds of the world spin this little dipshit who wanted to kill lots of people as a principled “leaker.”

Aftermath of this morning. Fuck Russia. Deliberately attacking civilians.

I think that was established long ago. It is why I thought it was foolish of the US to not hand over weapons that could sink Russian boats, strike back at Russian cities, infrastructure, ports and oil fields.

Left Tallinn this morning. A couple of final images - again, they are ALL IN for Ukraine here.

Windows of the building across the street from the embassy (totally missed them the first time). And the Tallinn skyline.

Today, we’re in ass-nowhere eastern Estonia - about 90 miles from the Russian border. Went into a dinky town to get some stuff for breakfast tomorrow, and in a parking lot was a small military vehicle, escorting a military truck. Had Ukrainian markings on it, and I was able to make out a label painted on it: “a gift from Estonia to Ukraine.” It was headed south.

I had the Truck Stop enchiladas at La Mancha on Wednesday. Anything like that over there?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered museums to be built which are dedicated to commemorating the events of the war in Ukraine, the Kremlin said Friday.

The museums, which will be built across the country, will showcase “the events of the special military operation and the heroic deeds of its participants,” according to a Kremlin statement.

Quote

Putin has set a deadline of the end of the year for the heads of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Education to report on the progress of implementing the galleries which are to be handled by regional and municipal authorities. The Ministry of Defense has also been directed to identify artifacts suitable for display in these museums.

Draconian new censorship laws target any media still operating outside the controls of the Kremlin and most independent journalists have left the country.

Meanwhile, a digital Iron Curtain has been reinforced, shutting Russians off from Western news and social media sites, and authorities have rounded up thousands in a crackdown on anti-war protests.

For some reason, the WSJ news comments sites (not every news story allows comments) has been inundated with Russian trolls, pretending to be Americans, bemoaning the Us support (with a tone of “more in sorrow than in anger”). I tell myself I need to stay away and not engage, but I just can’t help myself. I mock the silly and false contentions, and call them out for showing themselves to not be real Americans (one claimed he was a Vietnam vet but couldn’t answer some simple questions).
Their strategy seems to be to lay down a drumbeat of “it’s not worth it- Ukraine doesn’t deserve help and it’s futile anyway- it’s not worth it”

Thank God they’re not as good at fighting as they are at trolling.

Had lunch yesterday at a dive around 90 miles from the Russian border. Went Russian heavy - mulgipuder (potato and grain porridge topped with chunks of bacon, use the sour cream and pickle for added flavor!). And fried pelmeni, took most of them with us as a hiking snack.

And today, on the road trip back…gas station hotdog, Estonian-style:

Well now I need to go and make some pelmeni. Never had them fried and now I'm intrigued. I prefer them with balsamic vinegar over sour cream though.

You don't have to call them out individually to thwart their influence.  You just have to throw shit out there that they got Tucker Carlson fired and framed Trump and the NRA with their honey pots.

Remember that Amnesty International report that claimed Ukraine was possibly committing war crimes because of where it placed its units? Amnesty commissioned an expert review that was super critical of Amnesty’s initial report and methods and then sat on it for “internal lessons learned.”

This tweet should take you to the unlocked article:

The firearms boards I frequent are loaded with Russian trolls. Plus the usual idiots (who must be descended from the pre-WW2 German-American Bund nazis) who condemn any US aid to the Ukrainians.

Well, one of the highest profile and most blatant Russian espionage and influence operations in the United States targeted the NRA.  Gun owners and enthusiasts are seen by them as a vulnerable and valuable target.  This is not a criticism of you, just an observation of fact. It’s a wedge issue that attracts intense emotions and shorter steps to “the U.S. government is my enemy.”

csb the lady that developed this product lives near me.  She bought an old Methodist church in Old East Dallas and turned it into her residence.

Also, that stuff isn't gonna help her in the car.

If you think my Meksikon-coonass GI tract can’t handle a Baltic gas station hot dog, you think WAY wrong. Child’s play.

That mulgipuder was a bit rich, though.

Yeah, he's wasted hundreds/thousands of missiles on civilian targets when his soldiers could have used some of those missiles directed towards Ukrainian military targets.

Obviously Putin likes terror, but I saw one of the analysts mentioning that it's a real possibility that the targeting systems on a lot of them are absolute shit, so rather than firing them at precise targets and watching them land in fields a mile away, they just target them at cities, knowing it'll kill somebody.  He had no actual data to back it up, but he was just talking about how there will be a point where Russia may have wanted to keep those missiles to use against Ukrainian forces that were prepping for a counter-offensive instead of dumping them into Ukrainian cities.
