That's a big nope from me

Interesting. Maybe they can't maintain the commercial planes with sanctions or parts/planes are needed for the war?

Russian media say that the Kremlin regime is thinking of closing some or even all Moscow airports "for several weeks with subsequent prolongation" due to the terrorist threat (drones and, allegedly, in the short term, the possibility of strikes by long-range missiles from Sumy region, Ukraine).

Reportedly, this issue seems to be very painful for the Presidential Administration, FSB and the Russian government. It may unpredictably affect public mood, cause reputational losses of the inoperative air defense forces, and inflict financial losses - the regime's primary concern.

Allegedly, the Russian ministry of defense considers the closure of civilian skies as an unpleasant, but not a catastrophic event within the logic of war. The ministry of defense believes the closure of airports will cause an increase in patriotic sentiments and demands to strengthen military escalation. They think that the situation may cause the military to use those types of weapons against Ukrainian facilities that have not been used so far.

This is a day brightener. How can you not get a chuckle after watching these idiots discuss how Russia is powerfully taking on all 51 NATO countries and besting them.  Also, Trump says Biden is mad - and the system is not stopping mad Biden this time - because we are a nation of dotards and cretins.  Also, Ukraine without Russia is dissolving into ruins. They forget to say that’s because Russia is bombing it into ruins, but that appears not to matter.

What's the political mix of those 2+ million people?  How may of them are Russians who immigrated after 2014?  How many are (historically) pro-Russian Ukrainians?  And how many are pro-Ukraine Ukrainians?

Most polls seem to show that the vast majority are Russians who moved in after Russia took it in 2014.

What's going to be really interesting is that when Ukraine totally cuts off Crimea from Russian land routes, is how much all of those pro-Russian people in Crimea are going to be losing their shit.  And sure, they'll be angry at the Ukrainians, but they'll know that Putin is the one that failed to "protect" them, the one that sold them on moving to Crimea (or forced them to), and they'll be furious with him, especially if/when the Ukrainians show up and start returning property to the rightful owners.

You'd have to be really fucking stupid to be a Russian civilian and still hanging out in Crimea at this point. The writing is on the wall.

Well they are Russian...

Lurker here because I’m out my depth but I’m high so ive got courage to ask, can Ukraine handle that on a humanitarian scale?
