He also gets into the fact that Russian command structures differ from American command structures - in the US military, many decisions are made independently by lower ranks, whereas with the Russians, they are more centralized/top-down, so their field-grade officers (majors and up) are making decisions that American junior officers (captains/lieutenants)/NCOs would normally make. This exposes higher-ranking Russian officers at the front more oftent, leading to more deaths among those ranks than you get with Americans. I'm not going to post more, as it's a long thread.

This would indicate that it is extremely difficult if not impossible to use US ratios in Vietnam to calculate Russian losses in Ukraine. Probably a lot better proxy is to use the ratio of Russian officers lost to infantry lost in the Russian operations in Chechnya/Georgia/Afghanistan. And, hopefully, the ratios of Officers to Infantry losses in each of Russia's most recent wars are pretty similar which would indicate that the trend might be in the same range in Ukraine. But, even if this is calculated, one has to keep in mind that Ukraine is able to strike deeper behind enemy lines where more and higher ranking officers can be found because it has more advanced weaponry such as HIMARS, Storm Shadows, drones and Western detection systems.

She looks like she’s related to that NRA whore Russian chick who was banging the GOP olds.

Maria Butina. I was thinking the same thing. (She’s a member of the Russian parliament now, btw.)

And those oil platforms the Ukrainians took back are looking increasingly important.

So, outside of the fact that it's an obvious expensive loss of an investment Russia believes they will one day control, if those platforms are so important what stops Russia from blowing them sky high with some of their jets? Certainly they're not worried about an oil spil in the black sea, and I'd assume those patforms aren't actually functioning right now to produce oil. So if they're tactically important for continued Ukraine strikes, why not just blow them up?

I wondered what Matt LeBlanc did after Joey was canceled, looks like he went to Russia, but unlike Steven Segal, he actually manned up and put on a uniform.

That's surely what his ATTEMPTED replacement will be.
There will be competing claims.

Indeed.

And based on what we’ve seen of the kids, I’m guessing if they rise to power it’s as someone else’s puppet.

Chechnya devolving into an armed power struggle would be a real chef's kiss for this Russian fuckup.

Would there possibly be any other type of power struggle in Chechnya?

^This will go over great, I'm sure!

So Putin's 3-day operation is going on nearly 570 days or so, and they just announced the mobilized will serve until the war is over.  Going to be a lot of surrenders, a lot of fragged officers.  And probably another round of people trying to escape.

If Russia were a society of free people, this would cause popular sentiment to swing against continuing the war.

But since Russia is a society of slaves, . . . .
