Well the Arab countries and China are trying to bring the Russian women in as wives. Jimbo Putin just likes to sit back and watch.

So the Arab countries are the wide receivers and the Chinese are the tennis players in this scenario?  Or is it the other way around?  Either way, Jimbo gettin’ paid.

GRU, Crispy, etc. when  Putin and his cronies tells you who they are, listen to them.  He says there were no problems with Finland before NATO, but now he’s going to create problems because they voluntarily joined an organization he doesn’t like.   He literally justified Finland’s decision with that one little comment and with Russian efforts to push people through the Finnish border. Note: I don’t think he has any military units he can spare for that new military district.

“They (the West) took Finland and dragged it into NATO! Why, did we have any disputes with Finland? All disputes, including those of a territorial nature in the middle of the 20th Century, have all been resolved long ago,” Putin said in an interview published on Sunday.

“There were no problems, but now there will be, because we will now create the Leningrad military district there and definitely concentrate military units there,” Putin added in the interview by Russian state broadcaster Russia 1.

Putin also dismissed as “complete nonsense” remarks from US President Joe Biden, who earlier this month warned that Putin would “keep going” if he takes Ukraine, suggesting that Russia could eventually attack a NATO ally and draw US troops into conflict.

The Russian leader said Russia “has no reason, no interest, no geopolitical interest, neither economic, nor political, nor military, to fight with NATO countries,” adding Moscow does not have any territorial claims in NATO countries. “There is no desire to spoil relations with them (NATO countries), we are interested in developing relations,” Putin added.

And yet, people who report to him are constantly on state-run media, talking about how Russia should take Poland, the Baltics, Moldova, etc. and they do it with his permission.

If he actually wanted to develop relations with NATO, he would stop justifying their existence, and he would pull out of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.

Am I the only one that sees that as a new low for Russia? what a fucking disgrace of a society.

I'm not surprised.  There's tons of videos of Russian soldiers leaving their wounded behind on the battlefield, makes sense that they'd treat them so poorly.  If they can walk, they can soak up Ukrainian ammo.

On a kind of related note, Navalny didn't show up for another court hearing

https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/18/europe/russia-navalny-court-hearings-intl/index.html

Jailed Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny failed to appear at another court hearing on Monday, further raising concerns about his well-being 10 days after his team lost contact with him.

Navalny, who had been imprisoned in a penal colony about 150 miles east of Moscow, was scheduled to have several court hearings on Monday, his spokesperson Kira Yarmysh said. Two have already taken place without him being present and the judge suspended the rest until Navalny’s “location is established.”

Over the weekend, lawyers for Navalny’s team made inquiries with more than 200 pre-trial detention centers across the country, Yarmysh said. “We are waiting for answers,” she said.

The Federal Penitentiary Service presented a certificate that Navalny was not in [penal colony] IK-6, his team said. The representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service said the date when he was taken away and the location he was taken to were not known.

Mariana Katzarova, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation, contacted Russian authorities on Friday after Navalny failed to appear at another hearing, the UN said in a statement Monday.

Why is Russia having problems with eggs?  Did they lose millions of chickens overnight?  Or are the people deciding to eat them?

You might think that over 300,000 dead and wounded - and 2 million people fleeing the conscription - might have increased the egg to people ratio…

Not based on any info, but we had a pretty bad bird flu that caused the massive increase in prices last year. Could be something similar.

And.....the same exact people who you would expect to believe in a material amount of such batshittery overlaps perfectly with the pro-Russia simps here at home.  Like, two entirely overlapping circles is the Venn diagram.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of the damaged ones become hangar queens, if not 2/3.  A lot of their military hardware has been out of production for years/decades.

$36,000,000 USD per bird.    Imagine a country with a small economy as Russia having to essentially completely pay for a brand new military several times.    They are Uber fucked for the future, even if they took Ukraine tomorrow.

In a rare showing of public protest, CNN's Matthew Chance reports that some Russians are asking President Putin to bring soldiers home from the war in Ukraine.

Would be nice if more people publicly protested ahead of the elections, but my guess is that Putin will have them rounded up and either bribe them or threaten them with jail time.

I like the visual style of this channel. It usually covers battles in ancient wars but also provides updates on Ukraine. This covers up to Nov 30th so probably not anything new to anyone that's been paying attention lately but it's nicely summarized

Russian economy doing well

https://news.yahoo.com/russian-central-bank-raises-key-132152666.html

Russia's central bank on Friday raised its key interest rate to 16 percent, announcing a fifth hike since summer in a bid to fight accelerating inflation.

The central bank has been grappling with the economic fallout of the offensive in Ukraine that includes Western sanctions, a surge in government military spending and the call-up of hundreds of thousands of men.
