Lots of fun targets over there… lots of aircraft and drone facilities. Lots of ferry terminals, lots of stand alone structures…

What makes this so interesting is that many have been begging to allow this because of the overwhelming number of static targets Russia has moved there that Ukraine was red lined from targeting.

Kerch Bridge..

. I See You Wtf GIF by Teddy Too Big

Notice that this is being announced beforehand vs afterward. This is a major diplomatic play letting Russia know the time is now for negotiations.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that the new division has completed training in France and is being transferred in with all-new French gear.

Either Russia puts in a good faith effort to negotiate or it is time to reinforce the winter positions and to lay waste to the entire new corridor. Time to strike Kerch bridge, the port facilities at Yeysk, the rail and highway interchanges in Bryansk, the bridges that split the city of Smolensk in two as well as the rail yards there, plus a dozens of  new air bases, troop depots, HQs and bridges that are now in range...

Important caveat that I'm reading: the allowance may only be extended to all of Kursk! This is not carte blanche and would not include the Kerch bridge or most of the orange on that map. The reporting is not entirely clear though.

There are reports that France and the UK are also lifting restrictions, and those may be more expansive.

Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russia With Long-Range U.S. Missiles

With two months left in office, the president for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use the system known as ATACMS to help defend its forces in the Kursk region of Russia.

A video is being circulated that allegedly shows mass graves being dug for Russian soldiers who were declared missing in action but were in fact killed.
They are buried secretly from their families so as not to pay compensation to relatives.
Information requires clarification. We are waiting for more photos and videos.

ATACMS was only authorized for use in the Kursk area, where North Korean troops have been deployed, - Axios The motivation behind the decision was to deter North Korea from sending more troops to Russia for the war against Ukraine. U.S. officials hope that if North Koreans troops in Kursk are hit, Pyongyang might review its decision to send troops to Russia and the Russian counterattack in Kursk will fail.

For fuck's sake already.

Ukraine should paint "Not ATACMS" on the missiles and let those bitches fly.

They have been very industrious so far...I wouldn't think it would be very hard to reverse engineer the missiles and start making their own. What's Washington going to say about that?

They are probably sealed to self destruct if tampered with. Not saying they'd blow the fuck up , but the PCB would burn up at least.

This was my thought as well.

I'm surprised it hasn't been done already.  I supposed they may not have access to the same component supply chains as we do.

I have a hard time believing this comes from Biden. It seems to me that Blinken makes these decisions.

Why?  He has proven over and over and over he is extremely concerned about escalation.  He famously advised Obama against the Bin Laden raid, preferring to wait for clearer intelligence.

Offered as facts, not attempting to CR.

Ukraine to receive 4000 German attack drones with artificial intelligence

Ukraine’s military will receive 4,000 artificial intelligence-controlled attack drones from Germany.

The German newspaper Bild reported on this, citing its own sources, according to European Pravda.

The publication notes that the German company Helsing has received permission to supply them. It also cites the words of Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who actually confirmed these intentions.

It is noted that these are HX-2 Karma kamikaze drones, which have high autonomy in the face of jamming and can very effectively hit targets at a considerable distance through the use of artificial intelligence technology.

Starting in December, they may begin to be delivered to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in batches of several hundred units per month.

According to Bild’s sources, some prototypes are allegedly already being tested in real combat conditions in eastern Ukraine and are being improved based on the results.

It is noted that the drone’s feature was modern software that helped it navigate the terrain using many “markers” and fly to the target even in difficult weather conditions, as well as the influence of electronic warfare.

Once the drone has identified the target and the operator has confirmed it, it is then able to strike autonomously, even if communication is lost, i.e., apparently, a homing system is used at the final part of the flight.

The German publication also states that the range of this kamikaze drone is allegedly four times longer than that of typical Ukrainian counterparts.

However, it is worth noting that the article does not specify which specific drones are used for comparison. However, it is stated that they were significantly cheaper than the American Switchblade and Russian Lancet drones.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said he had been “very pleased that the delivery of these drones equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology is already underway” and that Ukraine would be able to use them against important enemy targets, Bild reported.

In February 2024, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ukrainian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Helsing.

France, UK Approve Ukraine’s Use of SCALP/Storm Shadow Missiles for Strikes on Russian Soil

The governments of France and the United Kingdom, following the United States, have granted Ukraine permission to conduct deep strikes into Russian territory using their SCALP/Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

Le Figaro reported on this.

Militarnyi previously reported that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, allowed Ukraine to strike Russia with American long-range missiles.

The missiles are likely to be initially employed against Russian and North Korean troops in defense of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk oblast of western Russia, according to The New York Times.

Most likely, it was the U.S. government’s decision that prompted the French and British governments to make a decision that politicians have been discussing almost since the beginning of SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Previously, French-British cruise missiles were used to hit targets in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Reports suggest that the missiles destroyed the Rostov-on-Don submarine, the landing ship Minsk, the small missile ship Askold, and the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol.

Strikes by SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles on important facilities in the Russian Federation can cause significant losses and contribute to the reduction of the capabilities of the Russian invasion forces.

On November 10, Militarnyi reported that France was preparing an additional batch of long-range SCALP missiles and Mistral missiles for air defense for Ukraine.

SCALP/Storm Shadow
The Franco-British Storm Shadow/SCALP EG is a long-range air-to-ground air-launched cruise search missile.

It is designed to overcome air defense systems and destroy important stationary targets, including bunkers. The 5.1-meter-long search missile has a flight weight of up to 1,300 kg, while the weight of its warhead is 450 kg.

The French version of the missile called SCALP EG and the British Storm Shadow are basically identical. The difference is only in the software and type of aircraft designed to carry this missile.

The stated operational range of the cruise missile is over 250 km in the export version and up to 560 km for the army of France and the UK.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has confirmed that Russia's missile attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure destabilized the grid to the point that power reductions were required at all 3 operating nuclear power stations.
Nuclear power plants require stable external power connections to operate. Russian attacks are inching the European continent to disaster.

I hope Germany/France/UK have given up the idea that they need to save weapons for themselves in case there's a big continental war with Russia, and have realized that this IS the big continental war with Russia they've been saving them for all along.

I think that's right.  It was different for France in May/June 1940, but Churchill was very wise not to throw in the rest of the RAF when France was after him to do so when it was clear that France would fall within days.  I don't think Ukraine is where France was in the summer of 1940.
