Русский корабль - иди нахуй

Speaking of red, they have gingers with them and because gingers have no souls, they are more likely to commit or witness atrocities without feeling a single bit of remorse.  Not good for the Ukrainians.

Y’know, the thing about a ginger, he’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he does or watches something horrible, he doesn’t seem to be living until those black eyes roll over white.

Y'all really need to watch this video.  It's so fucking cringe-worthy, and it's just not the kind of video you should be putting out when you are getting your asses kicked and barely have air superiority over your own troops.

And the woman is rude, so we've got that going for us.

If that were a real pilot, he'd probably be dead already.  Or had a few close calls.

At least they are dropping the charade and just straight up using Soviet colors with some units.

And this could be tied to rumors of Wagner losing "contractors" who are balking at fighting.

Couple of things:

- “Razvedchiki” are like combined recon/intelligence units in case you’re wondering.  I also explained a while back how Spetznatz are not really the equivalent of Green Berets or SEALS so I won’t go into it again.

- The phrase on the wall: “My coffin is rustling in the woods, it is a tree, it nurses nests.” Czech poet.  That’s really weird.

The Duma guy going on the rant above, he's still a retired major general, and even if he's tied into the Duma and not Putin, he was still talking about integrating Ukraine, still talking about rounding up journalists and politicians, still name-dropping Romania, Poland, and the Baltic states.

There was a quote that jumped out:

“Our nation was built through territorial enlargement”

And there is one threat he mentioned, that Russia could absolutely fulfill.

What is he talking about?

The guy with the long tweet threads talking about demographics and Russia's recruiting problems?  Basically, Russia is leaning really hard on filling the ranks of its army from the outer regions, because Saint Petersburg and Moscow aren't sending very many to the fight.

Or the Major General?

Seems like some pretty solid production value along with a catchy tune. Bonus points for the big tits and DSL’s. Score a (very) minor propaganda victory for the bad guys.

so are things not going well for Ukraine at this point? Are we twiddling our thumbs and withholding the weapons they need to end this war?

what's going on here?

Russia is raising the maximum age to join the military, has 60 year olds flying fighters, and is pulling 60 year-old tanks out of mothballs and sending hem into Ukraine.  They also keep changing the Kherson referendum to the point where it’s now close to 2023.  And they were recently pushed out of Kharkiv.

Narrator: Putin is very ill

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-61628473

Quote

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has denied speculation that President Vladimir Putin is ill. In an interview with French TV, Mr Lavrov said the Russian leader appears in public every day, and no sane person would see any signs of an ailment.

There has been increasing unconfirmed media speculation that Mr Putin, who turns 70 this year, may be suffering from ill health, possibly cancer. The interview came as Russia continues its advance in Ukraine's Donbas region.

Quote

Mr Lavrov said the "liberation" of the eastern region was an "unconditional priority" for Russia.

He repeated the Kremlin's widely discredited line that Russia is fighting a "neo-Nazi regime".

Quote

Asked about the human cost of the fighting, which has seen devastating artillery and rocket attacks on some urban areas, Mr Lavrov insisted Russian soldiers were "under strict orders categorically to avoid attacks and strikes on civilian infrastructure".

Quote

Mr Lavrov told TF1 that winning in "the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, recognised by the Russian Federation as independent states, is an unconditional priority".

However, he added, it was up to the rest of Ukraine if people there were "happy to return to the authority of a neo-Nazi regime that has proven it is Russophobic in essence".

This is what I can piece together.

That pocket around Sverdonetsk is harder for the Russians to take than it is for Ukraine to defend it. This is meat grinder stuff. Russia hasn't fixed it's logistics and the way the fight is laid out it's hard for them to get stuff in. Then there's the stuff which sucks. They are willing to dip into the good stuff and forced to use old worn out duct taped and baling wired together stuff. They didn't want to use either. And on top off all that they are calling in 60 year old guys to replace 20-30 year olds.

Ukraine does not have these problems. We, and a lot of other countries, are feeding them all the gear they can handle. It's easier for the stuff to get to them. Outside of some truly balls out missions to resupply Mariupol. The stuff they get is kickass and there's more every day. They are not asking gray haired old men to fight. Though they volunteer anyhow. Instead of firebombs at the registration office they get recruits.

Ukraine can win this. But, it's not going be fast moving for a while. Maybe not ever. A slow grinding away of men and material until Russia has had enough and goes home.

Russia is fucked. They can’t sustain their losses for much longer, unless they want to field T-34s.  They’ve lost so many officers and vehicles that it’s limiting their ability to field new BTGs, let alone BTGs at full strength.  The current crops of Russian conscripts and contract soldiers are having to crowdsource body armor and rations and optics - not a good look for what is claimed to be the second most powerful military in the world, that started this war.

Russian talking heads and politicians keep pushing the date for referendums in the occupied areas to join Russia further and further back, and they keep changing their requirements for victory to be declared.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian training continues to ramp up and they continue to field more and more advanced western equipment and continue to put more fresh units into the field.

Quote

Other nations are ferrying Ukrainians back and forth to training in Eastern Europe, such as Canadians training Ukrainian troops on U.S.-provided artillery, and to help pick up the weapons. A team in the field in Eastern Europe connected to European Command has helped disassemble Soviet-era Su-25 “Frogfoot” aircraft and Mi-17 helicopters so they can be shipped to Ukraine. The Ukrainians are showing single-mindedness in training sessions, officials said. “They don’t want to take tea breaks,” the British military official said. “They just want to carry on learning and get back into [the] country.”

Zeihan is prone to hyperbole but one thing I agree with him on is that Russia is going to attack Ukraine until they can attack no more.

Ukraine will win this as long as the West continues to support them. The more support we provide the sooner that will occur.

I read it. She didn't break any rules as far as I can tell. Finnish tabloid caught her having a night out and the opposition scolds said she should have voluntarily stayed home. I expect they have similar things to say about the glass(es) of wine at a fucking championship game.

Yeah, having a hard time getting upset or concerned about it.
