I am kinda starting to get worried about all these "treason" dismissals.

not because it means there is corruption in Ukraine... there is, and has been for years.

UKr coruption is not a secret, but unless Zalensky has concrete proof these ministers/ambassadors/security chiefs were actively working with Russia against UKr, firing these folks just because they dont handle the idea of any communication with Russia being a  3rd rail  seems a bit too.... dictator-ish.

you need to have folks who can have SOME dialog with some levels of Russia at some point to get a real idea of what the fuck its going to take to end this shit..... or if it really is Russia saying (for real on the backend, not TV bluster) "we wont stop till you all die"  you can only get that info from inside backdoor channels from folks who have been forced for the last 8 years to at least partially deal with Russia

In some cases it’s definitely revealing Ukrainian defenses, even actively helping Russians.  As in legitimate treason.

I am curious about how the frequency and duration of the RU artillery barrages has changed in the last few weeks.

We keep seeing the ammo dumps being hit and the cool fireballs, but anyone know how far this has limited their artillery itself?

Its fairly obvious that the rolling artillery backed advance has ground to a halt, but how much longer until they are unable to even do counter-battery fire?

Whole lotta discussion about it.

This was in @MillerEP tweet feed and might be worth keeping an eye on.  Recently, Ukraine recognized them as an independent republic within Chechnya.  This group was put down by the Russians in the 90s, when they considered themselves an independent Islamic republic.  Russia doesn’t have the forces to do a lot without pulling them (internal police, etc. ) out of Ukraine.  And there are p,entry of Chechens loyal to Russia in Ukraine   They might have to be pulled out.

Would be awesome if Chechnya blew up right now.

Get some more fighters to join them

from The other counties and this could turn into a big fire in Russia.

Man, I'm SUPER loving this dynamic.  I mean, it's in our strategic interest to support a bunch of islamists fighting Russia and being a thorn in their side......I just remember the 80s pretty well, and in spite of my nostalgia for neon clothing and chicks with big hair, there were some....unfortunate engagements in that era as well.  Charlie Wilson's ghost is watching.

I follow a Ukrainian Youtuber https://www.youtube.com/c/RoadHomeMotorcycleVlogs who often posts "fire maps" of the front showing the amount and locations of bombardments on that day and the previous day. After the first string of ammo dump strikes, the fire maps a day or two later looked like somebody had turned off a faucet.

Now you still get occasional clumps of Russian fire, at a fraction of what it was. Looks like shot gun blasts on a country road sign. The Ukrainian long-range fires look like giant sniper rifle attacks.

The Russians might have some ammo at the guns and launchers, but aren't burning through it.

I am waiting for a repeat of the 40 km convoy, this time with ammo trucks after the dumps and trains go boom.

Might start seeing a lot more Russian aerial losses as they venture out of Russian controlled areas.  And it confirms that Ukraine is inflicting massive losses on them.  Ukrainians apparently have decoys that resemble HIMARS and are using them as bait for Russian aircraft.

Get those set design folks from down at the theater working. Himars basically look like three boxes stacked together, every village could knock out a couple.

Logistics Collapse

Fantastic article, by way of Hertling.

One of many money quotes:

Quote

Oh, it gets much worse. Since there is no declaration of war…

...

This is the implication because the tank factory supposedly stopped running due to sanctions; they are still producing some new tanks. It’s just not for the war effort. They are using whatever they still have to fulfill an export order.

Put yourself in the shoes of the general staff for a damn second. You need tanks, but the export market is taking priority in the middle of a war. Incidentally, they are no longer producing Armatas either. This is as dysfunctional as it gets.

Good watch/listen. Basically Belarus is screwed if they try to invade and will gain nothing, but lose much. They’ve also got a smaller ground force than people realize.

Belarus literally doesn’t have shit. Their military has one mission: suppression of internal dissent and unrest. And if they are out of the area, or are wiped out, they can’t perform that mission. Lukashenko would be deposed, and rather quickly. And he knows it. His troops are staying home.

You’ve seen NAFO around, here’s an explanation

https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3pd5y/shitposting-shiba-inu-accounts-chased-a-russian-diplomat-offline

Shitposting Shiba Inu Accounts Chased a Russian Diplomat Offline

The Fellas, or NAFO, are a loose cadre of extremely online shitposters who are raising money for Ukraine and fighting Russian disinformation.

Quote

An unofficial army of cartoon Shiba Inu dogs is making life hard for people who post Russian disinformation about the war in Ukraine online. They are known as NAFO, the North Atlantic Fellas Organization, a small but growing cadre of shitposters who’ve gathered to raise money for Ukraine and call out obvious propaganda when they see it. It’s getting hard to tow the Kremlin’s party line on Twitter without them showing up in the replies to mock and counter it.

Quote

If you’re plugged into the U.S. military social media sphere, they’re impossible to miss. They’re cute and ludicrous anthropomorphic Shiba avatars. They’re cute faces poking over track suits and army fatigues, some wear suits, some carry military equipment. These are the Fellas. Jack McCain, helicopter pilot and son of John McCain, uses a Fella avatar. CNN analyst and retired U.S. Army officer Mark Hertling is sharing the meme. U.S. Army Major General Patrick Donahoe is using a Fella avatar.

Where did these cartoon dogs come from and why are they suddenly everywhere on military Twitter?
