We criticize the Miltary-Industrial complex for bribing Senators and selling $500,000 hammers, and we should.  But wow they build good shit.

Well, it’s not like it’s rocket science.

Was curious why #pedoputin was trending.  Not sure on this translationor when it came out.  Apparently this goes back to rumors that Putin had Alexander Litvinenko killed for reporting he was a pedo.  Still, love the idea that they can get this stuff trending.

This is not War and Putin is not Pedo.

That may be less about being Russian and all about there being no real NCOs.

You tell a couple of Privates to "move 20 chairs inside the classroom," y'know, so there can be a class in there? Unsupervised, they'll stack all 20 chairs one foot inside the door. It doesn't occur to most officers that they would do that, it's obvious they should have set them out in rows. So officers don't check.

The Sergeant, who was a Private himself not long ago, knows exactly what kind of shit they'll try to get away with. His occasional boot-up-somebody's-ass keeps the Privates honest and makes the Lieutenant look competent.

I’m guessing the very public US grain purchases are to serve as a warning to Russia to not impede those ships? That it would be a provocation to do so? (And future ships would have USN escort?)

Probably not so much that as just a generous move by us. The grain seems to be flowing semi-normally now, especially once it gets out of the Bosporus. Ukraine gets the money it needs to support its economy, while poorer countries in Africa and ME facing famine get some free food out of the deal and hopefully an added PR boost.

Poisoning Russian soldiers?!  Someone call Amnesty International!

Yeah, I like the quote by Ukraine basically saying, "Are you sure it's not the fact that you're feeding your troops 10 year old food?

Also our export program will be out of position to ship significant wheat soon as corn and soybean harvest ramps up. Bigger forward issue is Ukraine crop will be down significantly this year because of war, and you are very not likely to have good potential for winter sown crops there on aggregate for next year unless things change fast

As an add on to this at Max output the US can ship in 10 days what Ukraine does in a month, and in 12 days what Russia can do in a month.
