Trophy Iranian UAV Mohajer-6. Maybe it's the one that fell into the sea, or another one. We are waiting for more information.

^Lol, and Iran was swearing up and down that they never supplied drones to Russia

Greece kept North Macedonia out of NATO for years due to their freaking name.

This article predicts that Turkey will drag this out into 2023 (to get as much as they can because their economy is shit) and that Hungary will ratify but will be the last to do it. Orban is using Erdogan's bitching as cover but he'll fall in line once they are the only one left.

Greece swinging their nuts with their massive economic might.

Hungry we all know and hate.

I would assume Greece (and their proxies in Cyprus) want something: money, arms, lube, idk.

the only thing I know about Malta is Below Deck Mediterranean is filming this season.

Dear Hungary. You chose Orban. FAFO. Cut all aid to them. What sucks is the US led police training facility, where we are planning on training Ukrainians is in Hungary. Great facility, but maybe it is time to move it somewhere else. Like Kyiv.

Maybe I just don't like them. Worst food poisoning I ever suffered was in Budapest.

Europe has to negotiate (buy off the Turks).  It's better to keep Turkey close and deal with Erdogan's bullshit than cut them loose and see them become a rogue state.

You are correct. Kicking Hungary out of Nato and the EU would be a big deal, but it would devastate Hungary.  Land locked, militarily weak, without access to other allies, they would be lumped in with the Serbs. Orban will come around once Erdogan signs on the line.

Looks like it's been deleted. Musk's starlink internet has probably helped Ukraine more than anyone realizes, but he's not an expert in international relations, or politics. He's and engineer (and armature military history buff) just throwing out quasi workable ideas to solve a problem that appears "balanced" to both sides. The problem being that he isn't thinking through on what problems this would create in the future and incorrectly viewing this as some singular one of problem instead of a pattern of behavior from Russia (appeasement issue).

I don't think there's any way to kick a country out of NATO. I think I've read that a countries security assurances could be rescinded or something, but I you would still need their vote to allow other members in.

The answer is to create a different Treaty organization with similar rules to NATO, which actually gets funded, while everyone lets their NATO funding shockingly lapse. Or everyone in NATO except Hungary and Turkey or whoever else decides to sign independent treaties with Ukraine that operate similarly to NATO. I mean, fuck, the US signed a treaty with Ukraine and Russia pledging to help them stay secure when they gave up their nukes. I'd argue we're negligent on that one.

If you don't like it in NATO, start your own alliance...you have my blessing.

HE'S NOT A FUCKING ENGINEER.  While he has a BA in Physics and a BS in Economics, he's not a technical person. He actively allows people to think that he is a STEM specialist despite the fact that he is absolutely not.  He has a technical adjacent background.

Said it before. Does not bother me if the Ukraine joins NATO now. I am cool with a unilateral defense agreement. Let every nation that wants to support Ukraine do it. We are spending effort on something that does not matter right now. In the future? yes, let them in.

Dear Hungarians, please get rid of this fuck and don't become Serbs. Dear Turkey, want the tribes north of you to behave, just say yes and all the sunflower seeds you can eat.

I can't imagine how much frozen Russian assets are already currently tied up in Greek and Cypriot financial institutions.  I'm sure the local governments want a cut, restitution, etc.

The dateline on that article was 2013. Not saying it isn't still relevant, but as a wise man once said "new shit has come to light".

another good 🧵 from Gen Hertling

One thing some have mentioned is chemical weapons - they may not trigger an exaggerated response from NATO that tactical nukes would yet they would serve the same purpose.

Would the Ukrainian Army consider crossing into Russia proper when advancing from Kamyanka toward Troitske instead of just having to hug the border?

I don't think you can give Putin a justification for nukes...even "Tactical" ones.
