For me, this is the first thing that crossed my mind yesterday when the news hit.

Why now?

Oh yeah...NE is in danger of losing HFA.  Of course.

Either that, or Hunt missed a payment to someone.

I'm not sure whether this is curtains for K.C. or not.  Look at the rest of their schedule-two games against the Raiders where they can win with Helen Hunt as their running back, home games against the Ravens who seem to be in 8-8/7-9 limbo and the Chargers who never win in Kansas City and a road game against the Seahawks.  Steelers and Patriots still have to play each other so one of those two is getting at least one more loss and the Steelers also still have to play the Chargers and Saints.  They could easily be the 4 seed going into the playoffs.  Patriots play the Vikings this week which is not an automatic win for them either.  I don't think the Texans are going to go into the playoffs on a 13 game winning streak either so the Chiefs should have room for a slip up.   They could end up in a position where the Steelers, Chargers, and Patriots end up knocking two of each other out before any of them play the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Just like Barry Sanders, amirite?

But seriously, what the hell does special players which only champions can make even mean?

the backup might have a good 12 yard run, Hunt would have turned that into a 55 yard TD. He's got the extra gear that others don't and that's the difference in crunch time between winning or losing.  Also, I don't get the Barry Sanders comparison, they're both short and black I guess.

the point is that is not championship play if you never played in the Super Bowl.

It's a slam on the adjective, not the noun.

again, too rigid a mindset. Some guys have the "championship DNA", a phrase which recently popped up in the last few years. Zeke Elliot has it (not just because of 2014 tosu), Dak does not. Mahomes and Hunt have it, the clutch factor.

They all have freakish physical talent too.  That helps.

Again, not casting doubt on Hunt's ability.  IT's just a descriptor that is incorrect.

Trent Dilfer has championship play.  He's not an alltime great.

“Clutch.” Now you’ve done it.

oh i agree, guys get rings in starting roles when they are not the real cause of the championship. Hell, Jim McMahon won a Superbowl with the Bears. He'd be a 3rd string at best these days.

The articles say the woman involved declined to be interviewed by the NFL. That sounds a little different than “the NFL did not interview her” even though the end result is the same. It’s kind of like the difference in the Hunt side of the headlines between “brutalized”, “attacked”, and “altercation”. Headline writers drive the narrative too much.

True. But what is their excuse for not interviewing Hunt?

Also, why the hell does Hunt live in a hotel? I know it’s already been discussed but it’s worth repeating.

There is no good excuse, but I was referring more to the headlines about the woman involved. It seems like in every reported incident the player should be interviewed by the league. Maybe they relied on KC’s discussion with him which still isn’t enough. The articles do say they interviewed numerous witnesses and their stories lined up, but you have control over Hunt and have to talk to him.

That's because these days he would have a hard time remembering the plays or even where the stadium is.

Quote

The Chiefs said Hunt was not truthful in his discussions with the team about what happened, leading to the decision to part ways with him.

Hunt confirmed that.

"I didn't tell them everything," Hunt said. "I don't blame them for anything. My actions caused this."

After the video was released and shortly before the Chiefs' announcement, Hunt was placed on the commissioner's exempt list by the NFL.

"The Chiefs did what was right," Hunt said.

Ugh. POs shielded from the realities the rest of us common folk face because he can football.

Well, to be fair, he was never charged criminally, correct? If so, I'm pretty sure us common folk wouldn't have had any repercussions from an incident like this either.

This is not the standard the NFL uses for meting out punishment.

Right. I was responding to the poster who claimed that ordinary people like you and I would not get a second chance like this person. My point was that our employers would likely never find out about the conduct in the first place because news organizations aren't interested in what I do at a casino at 2 am.

His absence might have cost the Chiefs the super bowl and he gets to sign another contract. What a massive fucking shitshow.

Yeah it’d be better to prevent him from doing the one and only thing he’ll ever be successful at so that he can immerse himself full time in the family business (just google “Kareem hunt father” to know what I’m talking about).

My thoughts are he should be suspended for a full season, not including the 2018 season. We all know that the NFL is a farce when it comes to the personnel living on the straight and narrow. Hunt is arguably the second best player on the team and now he is potentially going to play again next year. What is to stop the Chiefs from hiring private investigators to air dirty laundry on their opponents, get their players cut, and then go and sign them for pennies on the dollar?

I think the guy deserves a very severe punishment, but the league acting like his actions are so outrageous that he needs to be out, only for a competing team to sign him is complete bullshit. He should be required to sign with the Chiefs or required to sit out a year.

I mean Zeke was suspended with less evidence, no photo's or video, and an accuser that the NFL's own investigator said "wasn't believable".

Hunt is on the exempt list, but hasn't been suspended yet.  If Goodell rules the same way he should be out at least 8 games.

no problem with that. The hotel incident was more of a scuffle and push than chronic abuse.

This is the same defense you used for now mixon. Not chronic abuse just a one time abuser so no big deal. All the Browns need to do is sign Suh for the trifecta of least liked humans along with hunt and mayfield

Maybe Hunt was a difference in stopping  the 3 3rd and longs the Patriots converted on the game winning drive...

The Chiefs had the lead late in the game, regardless of their lack of production in the first half.

KC fired their DC.  He had a far bigger hand in the loss than Hunt's absence.

My prediction is that Damien Williams kicks a whole of ass at RB next year for Kansas City.  It was the right move by KC to immediately cut Kareem.

My son knows one of Hunt's friends in the video &  knows Hunt's ex gf/not the woman in the video.

Ex gf said he is/was a gentleman during their dating & throughout what is now a friendship.  The friend in video told my son the woman went nuts & aggressively/repeatedly taunted Hunt with the N word until he reacted.

Sounds like he would've been better off owning it from the start & mitigated his losses.
