Yeah, the double up never really helps me, but I have taken enough benedryl in my life, that it no longer makes me drowsy, so for bad days, I go straight for the pink pills.

Yeah I always forget the Benadryl. Need to try that next time. Is it ok to use it with Zyrtec?

no idea the real answer, but I've never had adverse affects.

I’m a 365 Zyrtec guy as well. I’ll supplement Flonase midday on really bad days. Cedar messes me up, but I don’t have to deal with it too much here in Houston. The molds and ragweed kick my ass year round though if I don’t take Zyrtec.

I'm in FW, so I'm not ground zero but am very sensitive to cedar. Did Flonase religiously starting mid Dec and have yet to be hit hard. Really incredible.

I never had allergies except occasionally mold. But this year is kicking my ass so maybe I finally got cedar fever.
Was doing Costco's Zyrtec and Flonase but it wasn't doing shit. I switched to nasalcort and it seems to work a lot better

Kicking my ass in the metroplex. Yesterday’s count was “extreme”. I can usually stay on top of it with Flonase and Allegra but the last couple nights have required a double dose of Benadryl.

My doctor actually recommended I take both in the morning together since Zyrtec is time released and Benadryl's effect is immediate but short term. I've taken them together for over a year with no side effects.

Zyrtec before bed time so that it takes effect while you are sleeping. Flonaise can be added in the afternoon as needed.

The opposite seems to work better for me - Flonase at night and Zyrtec in the morning.

What do we have 6 more weeks?

Here's my chart for the last 3 seasons, including this one.  2016/2017 (blue) was mostly done by about Jan 14.  2017/2018 (orange) had some spikes into Feb.  This season (green) had that huge volume very early.  I bet we have some more spikes like last year before the Oak starts.

Heading to Vegas for the weekend, so of course its gonna rain to drop it down while I'm gone. If y'all are placing bets, #'s will go sky high come Tuesday.

If that futures bet is available while you're in Vegas, would you put $100 on it for me?  I'm good for it.

Anyone buy one of the high end air purifiers, or do a whole home system?  I am thinking about going that route to help the family that's getting waylaid this year by the cedar.  Looked at Molekule, but reviews are thin at best and it is expensive.  Seems like that is one way to attack this, at least in the house.

Claritin? Hah. Breaking out the xyzal because nothing else works anymore.

Seems like the only pills that work worth a damn are the ones that make you drowsy. Can’t wait till they make Dymista available OTC. That shit’s legit.

Got so desperate I just installed Honeywell hpa300’s in bedroom and living room. It does seem to help a bit, or else the psychosomatic effect is there.

Xyzal used to make me drowsy when I first started taking it. I don’t even notice it anymore.

Flonase works pretty well if you start taking it in mid December. But there are some days it don’t matter what you take, if you’re allergic you are gonna react and it will knock you out.

We are past the normal heavy time though. Still threatens until the end of the month though. Man cedar is a bitch.

Went on a quick run this morning and am paying for it now. I showered off immediately after but every time I step outside the headache starts to creep. Just really sucks when perfect running weather means a mega dose of meds.

Have taken "The Pill" "only" 3X so far this year.  About 2 a.m. this morning was the 4th.  Symptoms gone within 45 minutes.

A little rain will be coming in Sat. to alleviate this, and then it's just going to be too fucking cold to pollenate during the weekend.

But tomorrow through Friday are going to be a bitch with warm, breezy conditions, then next week after the cold moderates.

Traditional peak of cedar season is Thursday.  Yay?

I have not read the thread up to this point as I've been symptom free until yesterday. I'm curious what "The Pill" is, hep me Obi Wan.

Keep in mind that one thing might work great for someone, while doing shit for another.  For me, Claritin is a miracle drug.  I mean it's amazing how well it works on me (and until I first tried it, I suffered through years of shit that didn't work at all and I was miserable).

I say "The Pill" because I've posted on here a few times about Claritin for me.  My suggestion is to get it (or actually the HEB variety:

h-e-b-heb-24hr-allergy-loratadine-10mg-t

much cheaper, same stuff) and if it works, great.  If not, tough break, move onto the next thing.

I guess I've been taking the CVS version of the HEB version of Claritin.  I know it has Loritadine, whatever the hell that is.  It doesn't make me fall asleep, which is nice.  But I do take 1 a day, pretty much all year.

This is true.  Claritin worked well for me in my younger years, but a few years ago it was no longer effective during cedar season.  These days I take Allegra in the morning and Flonase in the evening and that seems to work

Yeah, years ago when Claritin first went OTC I used it with great success (Borat!) and then over time it seemed to stop. I found Zyrtec a few years back (I buy the HEB variety when they're open) and for the most part I get a lot of relief from it now but I was curious what others might be taking.

I am going to take that advice. Thank you. I had 2 Zyrtec with my coffee this morning, hopefully that will help.

Take a Benny if you stayed home.  I’ll take a Zyrtec in the morning and a Benadryl before bed when this shit is bad.   Feel much better the next day.

Benadryl wigs me the fuck out. First it makes me noddy, then I'm wired. I'll take it if I ever have poison ivy or such but have learned that we do not get along well. I just got back from the store, bought some of the Claritin knockoff and some Hall's cough drops for the scratchy throat. Ran into a co-worker while I was out, lol. Fuck you work.

Cold fronts are my savior here in the metroplex. Yesterday with south winds I was miserable. Today with some of that fresh trailer air from up north I can breath again. It’s like a switch.

Damn a week of basically feeling sick I think a legit head cold but then the cedar took hold even on Flonase and Zyrtec. Moved to Flonase, Zyrtec-D and cough syrup.  Not high enough.  Cold gone now I have a full blown nasty ass cough that is trying to move lower.  Hurts like a mother trucker and takes damn well near an hour in the morning to clear my system.  Nettipot 3-4 times a day too. Fuck this noise.  This is the last year I’ll do this.  Going to an allergy specialist this summer and getting it dealt with once and for all.  Never forget.

Got the Roid shot a few days ago. I know it's awful for the immune system, but damn I feel good.

Tell me more, I'm miserable but have a damn healthy immune system that can take the pain.

Managed to pick up a cold from my kids, and it’s kicking my ass right as I think the cedar was starting to bother me.

On a side note, we gave our 6 year-old children’s Flonase this year, along with children’s Zyrtec, and they seem to have helped him get through the season okay.

Finally got me today in FW. Made it this far without a single offline day but my eyes damn near tear up every blink and nose running like crazy
