Former Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Sunday called the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol “unacceptable” after years of deflecting on the issue.

McDaniel, who is joining NBC News as a political analyst after exiting the RNC earlier this month, told the outlet that the Capitol riot “doesn’t represent our country. It certainly does not represent my party.”

“We should not be attacking the Capitol; we should not be having violence,” she added. Asked why she didn’t offer such condemnation as RNC chairwoman, McDaniel responded, “When you’re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team. Right now, I get to be a little bit more myself.”

NBC may believe that they are offering sanity in lieu of the bsc lunacy of the rank and file GOP by hiring McDaniel but they are craven for doing so, IMO. she needs to be a little bit more BY HERSELF i.e. ALONE instead of "be a little bit more myself." Bitch, please.

1.  MAGA types hate Rona McDaniel.  She isn't viewed as one of them.

2.  As the Venn diagram of "Republican", "Conservative" and "MAGA" condense to a single circle, "RINOs" like Rona are going to be hard up, especially if they are blacklisted everywhere outside of that.  Probably deserved, leopards eating faces, etc.... but...

3. If someone formerly enabled Trump and MAGA but now feels compelled to work against them, it is in my family's best interests for them to find a place to do that.  I have no idea if that is what Rona was going to do, but we are in an immediate existential crisis for the country as we have known it.  If she's willing to help prevent a complete Trump takeover and establishment of a MAGA federal government, then I don't care what she did two, four, six years ago.  I want her help to keep Trump out of the White House now.

4.  A whole lot of people benefit from citizen outrage our country's internal strife, and they are not all part of the MAGA movement.  Media across the political spectrum has a particularly strong profit motive in promoting war vs peace.

NBC News on Tuesday ousted former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel, just days after her hiring as a paid political analyst sparked intense backlash from the network’s top television anchors over McDaniel’s role in subverting the 2020 election and attacks on the press.

“There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group,” NBCUniversal News Group President Cesar Conde said in a memo to staff. “After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.”

  Quote

“I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down,” Conde continued. “While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.”

Ahead of the network’s decision, McDaniel spent the day Tuesday interviewing attorneys in preparation for a potential legal battle with NBC, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. Creative Artists Agency, the talent agency that brokered McDaniel’s deal with NBC, also parted ways with her, the person said.

The reversal comes after journalists and anchors at both NBC and its cable news sibling MSNBC publicly denounced the decision to hire McDaniel as a paid analyst in a stunning and unprecedented on-air rebuke of network brass that has embarrassed the Peacock Network.

Here's what I learned from the Ronna McDaniel hiring/firing.

NBC has some MAGA-fascists in top management ... and they tried to see what they could get away with hiring McDaniel, a known fascist election denier.

Expert more NBC-MAGA efforts in the future. And elsewhere in the mainstream media, in the name of being "objective" and #bothsides. Hell, CAA, the top-shelf Hollywood-celeb talent agency was repping McDaniel! A known fascist election denier!

WHAT SHE SAID — Will it be the $600,000 interview?

The ramifications of NBC’s decision yesterday to part ways with contributor RONNA McDANIEL just two days after her paid network debut on “Meet the Press” are just starting to shake out. But they could be expensive.

McDaniel expects to be fully paid out for her contract, two years at $300,000 annually, since she did not breach its terms, we’re told — meaning that her single, not-quite-20-minute interview Sunday could cost the Peacock more than $30,000 per minute, or $500 per second.

That’s just one tidbit we’ve picked up from McDaniel’s side of things following yesterday’s announcement from NBCUniversal News Group Chair CESAR CONDE, and it might be just the beginning of the fallout. McDaniel spoke yesterday with BRYAN FREEDMAN,renowned lawyer to the estranged cable-news stars, to discuss legal options even beyond recouping the dollar value of her original contract.

Expand

  Quote

While no arrangement is final, a person close to McDaniel tells us, Freedman would be an obvious choice: He represented MEGYN KELLY in her own acrimonious parting with NBC, as well as ousted anchors CHRIS CUOMO, DON LEMON and TUCKER CARLSON in disputes with their respective former networks.

McDaniel, we’re told, is exploring potential defamation and hostile work environment torts after MSNBC’s top talent — momentarily her colleagues — took turns Monday blasting her on air. (NBC declined to comment about the $600,000 figure or her potential claims.)

McDaniel was silent yesterday as the fallout from the internal network revolt mounted, and her perspective and role in the deal was largely lost as it unraveled in real time. She and her allies are, unsurprisingly, furious about how everything went down, believing she was misled about how much she’d be welcomed into the fold by executives who had aggressively recruited her. They blame the same NBC brass for botching the situation by not having her meet with top network talent ahead of the rollout, then caving to internal pressure from liberal-leaning hosts.

Expand

  Quote

Most of all, they’re furious that the network did little to push back on a multi-day campaign against their new hire on their own airwaves. Host after host cast McDaniel as an enemy of democracy for, among other things, participating in a November 2020 phone callwhere then-President DONALD TRUMP sought to convince Michigan GOP elections officials not to certify election results.

“The part that pisses me off most about this is not necessarily that they folded; it’s [that] they allowed their talent to drag Ronna through the mud and make it seem like they were innocent bystanders,” the person close to McDaniel said.

We’ll set aside for a moment whether the well-documented “stop the steal” claims could be considered defamation against a prominent party official. McDaniel’s camp is similarly aghast at the finger-pointing that has unfolded inside the network over the past few days.

I figured this could go here.  FIL sent an op-ed article from The Free Press, which seems to be rated as Center or Right of Center by most media bias charts.  Ostensibly, it's about how "both sides" are being bamboozled from the inside and we are going to be destroyed by the process of "subversion".  This sounded initially to me very much like "active measures" @Hugo Stiglitz.  It's written by a woman who grew up in Somalia and then moved to the Netherlands and learned about liberal democracies and Westernization.

However, when I got into the article, red flags jumped up EVERYWHERE just in the first section about "Demoralization".  I'm still working through it, but here are my initial notes on that first section that I'm going to send back to the FIL.

https://www.thefp.com/p/ayaan-hirsi-ali-we-have-been-subverted

Notes:

Section 1:  Demoralization

- spent 4 paragraphs talking about "left" issues and only 1 about "right" issues, with one weak and vague example

- Also, a slam against "DINKS" as being selfish for not having kids because of wanting money for lattes or because of climate change - wow - and blaming them for the breakdown of the family unit

- "Minor Attracted Persons" instead of pedophiles? What? Where the hell did this come from?

 - Another veiled slam at transgenders as well as DEI - all right wing talking points

- The twitter link about the girl scouts being "brainwashed" is from a right wing think tank (CSPI):

https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/center-for-study-of-partisanship-and-ideology-cspi/

The Center for Study of Partisanship and Ideology (CSPI) is a right-of-center think tank which studies biases in the media, universities, and the scientific community. The organization primarily reports on bias against conservatives. CSPI provides research grants of $2,000-$15,000 to applicants to study incidents or trends of bias against conservatives. 1

The organization is also notable for its publication of research in opposition to COVID-19 lockdown policies. 2

In a 2007 article in Reason, Hirsi Ali said that Islam, the religion, must be defeated and that "we are at war with Islam. And there's no middle ground in wars."[141] She said, "Islam, period. Once it's defeated, it can mutate into something peaceful. It's very difficult to even talk about peace now. They're not interested in peace ... There comes a moment when you crush your enemy. ... and if you don't do that, then you have to live with the consequence of being crushed." Adding: "the Christian powers have accepted the separation of the worldly and the divine. We don't interfere with their religion, and they don't interfere with the state. That hasn't happened in Islam."[141]

Ok, finished up the article, which was fairly short in the end, and she basically admitted that she doesn't really know how to tell who is doing the "subverting" she is talking about, though she does mention the usual suspects (Russia and China) and then "American Marxists".  She conveniently leaves out "American Fascists".  But she does say this about identifying subversion:

  Quote

I regret to tell you that there is no easy way. One thing to pay attention to is your gut. Another is your mind: be discerning and skeptical of people recruiting you to their cause. Does their cause ask toleration of you or require compelled speech? Are you being recruited to fight for a cause you know nothing about? Is that cause maximalist and uncompromising; does it glorify violence?

Hmm, sounds very much like what the GOP is doing.  Almost identical actually.  Shame she apparently can't see it.

Also Somalia was a nominally communist country when she was growing up so, like Cubans and others, she is reflexively anti-communist, ignoring the autocrat part.

This was exactly my thought.  She's coming at it from her horrible experience as a child in a communist regime and is completely biased because of it.  I get why that would happen, but I don't think she should be looked at as a "centrist" in her views.
