Sports book advice needed. First of all I’m not a gambler at all. But I’m in Vegas for the weekend and would like to watch the game tomorrow. How do I go about doing that at a sports book and not make an ass of my self for being clueless about the process?
Can I just grab a seat order drinks and watch the game or do I have to put money down?

Depends on the casino. I was out there for the LSU game and watched at Caesars Palace. All the seats were reserved in advance and sold out. You could stand in the back by the bar. I think seats were going for $150 that day. If you find a smaller sports book, I’m guessing it’s a different deal. You don’t have to make a wager. If you want to make a small bet on the game, ask at the betting window how it works and they will be happy to explain it to you.

Booked a trip for late January. $468/night at Cosmo.

Got a res at Lotus Of Siam. Gonna go see the craziness at the AVN convention.  Booked a new tattoo with Mike Roche (TSOL) at Hart & Huntington. Will see Foreigner one night, and Y&T the next. Visit Brian Slagel’s new store.

Will squeeze in food, debauchery, and poker in there somewhere.

I’m at a truck stop across the street from the Silverton guess I’ll head over there and watch the game tomorrow.

I get the over and under and I understand the spread but what is the -110?
Say I want to put $10 on Texas to cover.
Does that mean I’ll only win $8.90

If the number is negative, you would pay that much to win $100.00. If the number is positive, you would win that much if you bet $100.

In the case of a -110 line, a win would pay $9.09 on a $10 bet.

I’ve had the same experience as @bigup2dahorns at the Wynn and Encore spirts books every time I’ve wanted to watch anything there.  All seats reserved and sold out.

I remember we did catch an NFL game at Legasses’ Stadium one time though.  So it’s doable.

I think it’s hard to beat the atmosphere at lagasse stadium at the palazzo. They have a book in there, cool stadium seating, private sitting areas and great food. You probably need a reservation but I think it’s the best place to post up and watch sports for many hours.

Spent this past Sunday there watching NFL games.  We hung at the bar, and the outdoor pool table mostly. I liked it, but have to say I much preferred our Saturday spent at the Monte Cristo Cigar Bar in Caesars watching college games.  Smaller, intimate lounge with leather seating, good service, a killer bourbon and cigar list, and none of the completely dumb ass, NFL, idiot, jersey wearing fans.

Heading up with 7-8 others in the morning. Staying at Aria. We have reservations tomorrow night at the Italian mobbed up place off the strip that y'all mentioned a lot. Reservation at Bavette's on Friday night. Maybe Sapphire after that? A little Rhino maybe? I don't know.

We'll pool our monies in the book at Aria for Saturday betting. Fairly certain for those that go in with us that I'll be pressing heavy on Texas -1 or whatever it is at the time. So this post should age well. The aggies going with us will surely be thrilled when I bring the tickets back from the betting counter.

If there's a new, "you have to do this!" thing going on out there right now, post it. I'm hoping to witness @SydneyCarton flagrantly embarrassing himself again after not sleeping for 48 hours and trending towards a full cardiac arrest due to the fury of his hangover.

With the beating this past week has been at work, my man, you might be seeing those conditions on full display at wheels down tomorrow at 1 pm. Let’s see if we can push it to 72 hours.

Piero’s. Good choice. If you see an old man (80’s) in the bar area, that’s likely to be Fred the owner. His son more or less runs the joint now but I saw Fred in there during the LSU game weekend when we ate there. Fred is a Vegas legend and knows a million stories. Was best friends with Tarkanian and was telling us awhile back how he knew Tom Penders really well. Check out the pictures on the walls as you enter of the various people who have been there over the years.

Good luck on the wagering and weekend. Nothing new to add, you’ll find plenty of trouble on your own.

Doesn't get much more Vegas than that.  Badass.

We had an awesome night there too last trip, but it wasn't quite Wanye Newton sighting awesome.

Well, I wouldn't say we had an awesome night that night. Piero's was great. It trended towards Very Bad Things from there and, well, whatever happens in Vegas, etc. I'm just glad no one died.

I haven’t been recently.

Cabbie put us on to Ellis Island 7 or 8 years ago and we always end up there for a meal once a trip.

Ellis Island breakfast is dang good. Cabbie told me the BBQ is good there, but I have never had it. There is a lounge in there with a super fun Elvis impersonator in the afternoons. Cheap, good beer, fewer douchebags = good place to kill an hour or two.

Also, some Shaggy member turned me on to Tuscany Suites a few years ago. Neat place with huge rooms and a quality small casino. The craft pub there (Pub 365) is pretty good and has great specials when the Golden Knights are playing.

From frontdesktip.com:

Winter Pools Open On The Las Vegas Strip

Winter is here and the weather is still gorgeous! Unfortunately, not all Las Vegas hotels keep pools open throughout the year. Here are some Vegas Strip hotels that offer some kind of pool experience during the winter:

Aria: The pool is heated and open daily. Hours may vary so check the Aria website for more information.

Bellagio: They usually have one or two of the five pools open during the winter. Space may be limited. Visit the Bellagio website for more info.

Caesars Palace: The Venus Pool is open for all ages during the winter. It’s no longer a European style (top optional) pool.

Circus Circus: Pool is open daily for now. That could change when the sale goes through.

Cosmopolitan: The Chelsea pool is open for the winter. The Boulevard pool is used for special events like ice skating and movies.

Luxor: The north pool is open daily.

Mandalay Bay: The Moorea Beach Club has a heated pool during the winter. This is the only pool open at Mandalay Bay Beach.

MGM Grand: One pool will remain open during the winter. The lazy river and other pools will be closed.

The Mirage: The pool is open for the winter. However, the cafe is closed and hours might be limited for maintenance. Visit The Mirage website for more information.

The Palazzo: The Vezina pool deck is open all year. The Palazzo pool 4 is closed for the winter. The pool may close if it’s too cold, so check with the hotel before your visit.

Paris: The Soliel pool is heated for use all year.

Park MGM: The pool complex is open all year round.

Sahara: The Alexandria Pool is open during the winter. The other pools are closed.

The Strat: The Elation pool is open for hotel guests only.
Vdara: Pool is open all year round.

The Venetian: The Vezina pool deck is open all year. Pools 1 and 2 at The Venetian are closed for the winter. The pool may close if it’s too cold, so check with the hotel before your visit.

Most of the pools off the Vegas Strip are closed for the cooler weather (November, December, January, February). Red Rock Casino and the Plaza are two of the few off-strip hotels that keep their pool open year-round.

Wynn/Encore noticeably absent from that list.  I’ve always known their pools to be heated and open all year.  In fact, I seem to remember they were pretty cutting edge when they offered it.  Not saying Steve Wynn invented the concept, but I feel like he was one of the first mega resort strip places to have it property-wide.  Wonder if they’ve done away with it?  Wouldn’t surprise me.

From the Wynn website:

The beautiful, temperature-controlled pools and whirlpool spas at The Wynn and The Encore are surrounded by gardens and private cabanas, each attended by a cabana host team to assist with food and beverage orders, as well as reservations for dining, shows and nightclubs. Cabanas come equipped with a variety of amenities, from stocked refrigerators to plasma-screen televisions, misting systems, fans and more. The secluded, adults-only pools are an ideal retreat, and the Wynn European pool allows for topless sunbathing.

Pools are open seasonally from 8 a.m. to dusk. Cabanas are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m

We hit up STK on Saturday. It was a great atmosphere and the food was on point. Hit up SpeedVegas and raced super cars. Gambled a ton. We stayed at Aria in the Sky Suites and we really enjoyed Aria and it was  actually pretty convenient to a lot of other properties. Sports book at Aria is trash though.

Eater Vegas on Lotus of Siam:

Fans of Saipin Chutima’s northern Thai cuisine may soon be able to return to the original location in the Commercial Center. Lotus of Siam plans to reopen the restaurant more than two years after it closed following the collapse of its rain-soaked roof on East Sahara Avenue.

Some of the new touches to the space include carpets, wallpaper, and a waiting area for customers at the front. Penny Chutima tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that a shuttle between the two restaurants will escort customers who don’t want to wait for a table. Lotus of Siam certainly is known as one of the toughest restaurant reservations in town, with weekends booked far in advance. The restaurant, tentatively planning a Dec. 2 return, plans to serve lunch and dinner on weekdays, and only dinner on Saturdays and Sundays.

Back in 2017, Lotus of Siam opened in the former Roy’s Restaurant space on Flamingo Road. At the time, Breslin Builders renovated the 7,921-square-foot space with a new wall to close off the open kitchen, plus new paint, flooring, equipment, upgrades to the existing bar and the creation of a new wine room in the private dining area to house the extensive wine collection.

The East Flamingo location offers about half the space of the original that spans 17,000 square feet in the Commercial Center. Both locations will remain open.
