Construction Of The Drew Las Vegas Now In Jeopardy After Witkoff Group Defaults On $2 Billion Loan

The tallest building on the Las Vegas Strip will likely stay empty and abandoned instead of becoming the area’s newest casino after the developer defaulted on loan payments.

According to Business Korea, The Drew Las Vegas resort development project has “suspended principal and interest payments” on the property since May 8.

That place just needs imploded.  The only person ever to make money on it was Icahn, who bought it for $150 million, peddled off the contents, then sold the place for $600 million.

The point is that we’ve been cooped up in the house for 2.5 months and we’re desperate to do something for our anniversary. Every other option we’ve explored has been a no-go for a myriad of reasons, and we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from 48 hours at Wynn/Encore, and even if it’s a watered down version of our normal trips, that’s ok with us all things considered.

I did not get a salon suite but I did get a pretty good deal, by far the cheapest 2 night stay I’ve ever had there.

We thought it might actually be cool to be among the first guests inside the Wynn in over 2 months. Maybe there will be a return to their once famous customer service where they treat everyone like royalty.

I’ll report back.

I get that you're looking for something special to do on your anniversary but have you suggested in the butt?

Wynn has been incredible so far. We showed up at 9:45 and they didn’t open until 10:00 so we waited at the main entrance with ~10 other people. Once they opened the doors we were all welcomed in with a huge lineup of their employees cheering and saying “Welcome back!” It was quite a procession.

Ate brunch at Terrace Point Cafe and the service was superb and everyone was extremely thankful to have customers.

Played craps and the dealers were great. The craps tables are blocked out to only allow 3 people per end. Dealers wipe everything down between shooters.

Hanging out at pool now. Wife not topless yet but wearing wicked weasel thong so can’t complain.

How crowded was your flight out there?  And where did you fly from?

I have a pretty sizable winning Super Bowl bet stub, and I was going to cash it in when I went out for the draft but that obviously got cancelled.  I checked it the other day and even though I have it in a ziploc bag it is fading pretty badly.  I don't want to wait too long until it's completely faded, and I don't want to mail it in and risk them not honoring it.

We flew SWA from Love Field. Middle seats were empty, other seats were full. So 2/3 full. The airport was dead and the boarding procedure was pretty good, social distancing as much as possible. Masks required unless eating or drinking.

Masks for guests required or recommended?  And does that go for outdoors or just indoors?  Like are you masked up by the pool?  Like your wife has more covering her face than her ass?

Speaking of, I just remembered Sinatra has a patio.  I’d snag that res quick.

Also, is the country club back open?  I know the golf course is, but what about the restaurant?  That patio would be great too

Masks required on SWA flight.

Masks encouraged inside Wynn/Encore. Their employees are 100% mask compliant but guests are probably 50% masks inside. Seems fine for the most part because people tend to respect 6 ft guidelines. Very few guests wearing masks outside.

Wife did not wear a mask at the pool.

Ate at Terrace Cafe and Sinatra yesterday, Tableau this morning, Tableau this morning, currently at Allegro because no Wynn trip is complete without it, then dinner tonight at Costa Di Mare. It’s all so good.

I know they are going to be the hardest seat in Vegas, but I want to watch a Raiders game sometime in the next 2-3 seasons. When things get back to "normal" those are going to be epic home game weekends.

Nice.  Best meal I’ve had in my life was at costa di mare (wasn’t called that at the time).

If y’all get a lilly pad at the pool again today, be sure to get a shrimp quesadilla before they stop serving food.  And recharge with a couple blueberry redbull and vodkas.  You can thank me later.

I’m thinking y’all nailed this thing.  Good work!  And be sure to report back about the private room stripper too

Thanks to clubs and late night entertainment being closed, this is the best I’ve ever felt leaving Vegas. Dare I say it was a relaxing getaway?

The craps tables were agreeable. Didn’t do much other gambling but everything in the casino had some form of reduced capacity safety measures in place. They had blackjack at the pool but no craps.

Wynn provides masks anytime you want one. Hand sanitizer throughout the property and they put 3 bottles of sanitizer in the room. Every restaurant provides sanitary wipes when you sit down.

Reservations required for every restaurant as well as the pool. We knew that at check-in and were able to get everything booked, but I did see some people turned away at the pool entrance.

The food was excellent as always and was a big part of the reason we went. We’ve somehow never eaten Costa Di Mare until now but it was incredible. Most of the restaurants have a Welcome Backing prix fixe menu for $75-85 in addition to their standard offerings.

Service was top notch. There are definitely some minor kinks in the system from all of the new policies, but I could tell they were really trying hard and all of the staff were friendly and thankful just to have customers again. The COO helped us get a spot at the pool the first day and told us he just wanted to make it a good experience for us. It was nice being addressed by name wherever we went, something we appreciated in the past but seems to have died off the last few years.

Overall a great trip. A bit different than our usual trips but I think it’s one that will stand out when we are retelling Vegas tales in 10 years.

I’ll update in 14 days if I’m still COVID free.

For any tattoo aficionados...

Just found out that Hart & Huntington has officially reopened at The Forum Shops at Caesars’.

I’m guessing their plans to remain at Virgin after their conversion of the Hard Rock wasn’t meant to be. Gotta be a story behind it, because the plan for their updated/upgraded Virgin place seemed set-in-stone when the shutdown happened.

If 2020 has taught us nothing...things change.

That's awesome, man...especially this part ^

Fingers crossed you didn't catch the covie, but aside from that, sounds like a pretty great trip.

One day after Las Vegas casinos reopened, a visitor from Los Angeles hit Let It Ride’s major progressive jackpot for $670,637 at Caesars Palace, according to a news release.

The guest, who wished to remain anonymous, was dealt a jack, queen and king of spades, and the dealer flipped the ace and 10 of spades to complete the royal flush.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Lotus of Siam co-owner Penny Chutima has announced the official reopening of the award-winning Thai restaurant’s original Commercial Center location.

Originally set to reopen on May 20, that date was postponed, the restaurant reopened on June 7.

The owner tells 13 Action News they have extensive safety protocols in place that meet and exceed the directives set by the State of Nevada and the Southern Nevada Health District.

“We have put a lot of time and effort into ensuring the best protective measures for both our staff and diners,” said Chutima. “Despite the conditions, I know my mother and the whole team are excited to return to our original home and committed to providing the best service and highest quality dishes for our guests.”
