Also, guy upthread asked about Le Cirque. If it is open and you want to spend the money, go. There isn’t a “Wynn equivalent”, sorry. I’ve been to Michelin rated restaurants all over the US and Europe and that place is as good as any of them and anyone arguing otherwise is simply ignorant or full of shit. Careful though, if you’re going to do it, do it right. Assume a min $500ppa and I’ve never left under $800ppa.

Looks amazing.

Lamb and vegetables are served at Le Cirque.

Yeah it’s really good and I agree - good stuff at Wynn but not quite that level. Went a few years back. They did have a three course fixed price deal that’s fantastic and not that ridiculous if you want to keep the price down.

I haven’t been in years but if you want a similar high end meal Picasso is pretty fantastic.

Unless you’ve been there done that on all the places at the Wynn/Encore and are just over them, I’d scrap a lot of those dining places on your list and just eat at the Wynn/Encore equivalent. I really only ever go off property for 1...maaaaaaybe 2 meals when I’m there. Whatever Wynn/Encore has is likely better than the equivalent elsewhere.

I have been to all 3 and I don’t know that there is a equivalent to Joel Robuchon, savoy or cirque at Wynn. Those three along with Picasso and é are some of the best fine dining in Vegas. (With the full Robuchon experience being the best)

Yeah, y'all are right. I was just talking generally speaking, I'd pick one or two and eat the rest of my meals on property because most of the Wynn/Encore spots are pretty great. Whenever we'd go and stay at the Wynn, we started to notice after a few trips that going off property never really seemed worth it and that we'd have been better off just eating there. But if super high end fine dining is your thing for every meal while you're in town, then go for it. I'd just prefer maybe 1 meal that way and the rest on property.

Absolute best meal I’ve ever had. Worth every penny.

I hear you, I tend to pick one "destination" location to eat and then stay to my Hotel or very close by for the same reason.

Who has been lately?  Is it still a mask nazi paradise?  When I was there in December they were asking people to unmask and remark between bites at dinner, or do they believe the science and allow Vax people to have a normal Vegas experience?

Just got back yesterday. No masks anywhere if you are vaccinated except the fucking plane ride getting there,  and no one asks if you have been vaccinated.

I took my mask off at the airport and didn't put it back on until I got back to the airport.

Just did a quick little golf trip thurs-sun.

Stayed at signature at mgm because I like being close to a casino but not having one downstairs.

The strip was a shit show. Felt more like Freemont street than the strip. Typical clientele isn't quite back.

Speaking of Freemont, went up to circa to watch the knights game at the sports book. Ho Lee fuk. Awesome. I would easily consider staying up there just for that.

There are no rental cars. I have a buddy that works for enterprise and he just laughed and said uber. He can usually get me a premium car for no more than 25 bucks a day. It was 250 a day for a corolla. He said everyone is holding their cars for longer term rentals and charging out the nose for anything under a week.

I consistently had better luck with lyft drivers than uber. Both in time and price. Not sure why. Everyone we had said with no surge pricing there were just not even close to as many people doing it. Never got canceled,  though and if we were willing to pay a little more a car would come fairly quickly. If we weren't in a hurry,  just pay the lower rate and they eventually show up.

I miss the hotdog cart run by the Asian family back by the sports book at the old Barbary Coast.

$1.25 coupon for one hotdog & a beer ftw. It was a must do lunch every trip.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Westgate?  Good idea? Nad idea?
Going with 2 other dudes, flying in for first weekend of college football. They seemingly have the #1 rated (by everyone) sports book in town and we will spend all day at the boom I would imagine

beyond that we aren’t looking for whores or clubs or drugs or anything like that. This is a PG 13 at most rated trip- maybe G rated compares to some of what you savages are into. Probably want a nice meal, reasonably priced gambling and not in a shit hole, in addition to the all day in the sports book deal.
thanks, will hang up and listen.

Why don’t you tell me what you want to place bets on and I’ll place them for you the weekend my crew goes. We’ll stay at the Aria, wind up at some point at the Rhino and spend all Saturday in the book. I’ll send you the photos of all of the shit we get into and baller places we eat, and if you win any money, I’ll venmo it to you. This way, you don’t have to suffer the indignity of travel or staying at the fucking Westgate, and you can live vicariously through some guys that will actually handle all that Vegas has to offer. You don’t even have to tell your wife, wu.

I’m laughing out loud at you. Look man- it was either that or Buffalo Wild Wings to watch all the games, so...

I guess that’s a vote against the Westgate then?  Is the internet lying to me when it says that is the best book in town?

Where is your collection of ballers posting up at to watch the football all day long at?

It breaks down to I’m pretty boring, my brother is even more boring and square than I am and the other guy is budget conscious I think.

If I’m going with my wife we stay at a strip hotel, go to a nice meal every night, catch a show and have one night where we get tanked and gamble until 2 or 3. Tame, but not lame.
I’ve never stayed off strip before so wondering what that looked like, this the question.
I just don’t like the titters bc it’s sad and depressing to me. I think of my daughters (age 10 and 6) and can’t enjoy the idea of broken girls with daddy issues debasing themselves for my enjoyment, and also as a hard core monogamist don’t enjoy getting all teased and hot and bothered if I’m not going to have satisfaction.
None of this is judgment on anyone else’s Vegas, just looking for recommendations on what the best way to do this one is, because I’ve never done a trip like this.

I hear the bingo game is quite lively there.

A cabana (think of it as a tent) solves a lot of problems for guys trips.

Got back late Sat. night after a 2 day trip.

Complete shit show.  Buddy has a host at MGM that has taken very good care of him in the past (his average bet is around $800-1000/hand).

Won't be going back there.  If we go back this year, it's the Wynn, Aria, or maybe Bellagio.

It was prison conjugal trailer visit bad.  Restaurants, even the higher end places, were like an adult Chuck-E-Cheese with people screaming, yelling, and even fucking singing (loudly and badly) during a dinner service.  Just a bunch of garbage people that think they're back at home and can do whatever the fuck they want.

The Uber ride to the airport was the best part of the trip.

I thought the Westgate was very sevicable when it was the las vegas Hilton. And the book was great. Don't know how it is now but can't imagine it is much worse. Not every vegas trip has to be the aria or cosmo or a two story suite at the Wynn. Westgate is close enough to do whatever you want and I wouldn't tell you not to go there.

Also,  don't be afraid to stay off the strip. M, jw Marriott, fuck even fucking Southpoint are all good if you need to come back and get a break from the shit that is the strip.

Circa is the best book I've ever seen,  though. And it isn't close.

Once I saw the strip I knew to stay away. Had dinner one night at lotus of siam and another at the steak house at circus circus. Both fantastic, but probably won't show up on most Google searches for restaurants near me. But honestly,  the strip looked like a fucking flea market. Honestly,  it was 2am Freemont street on a Saturday bad.

There are some good steakhouses in lower end hotels, like Bavette’s in the old Monte Carlo and the place in Circus Circus is not bad either from what I’ve heard.

Not fine dining, but we also tried to get into the Peppermill for breakfast one morning but 2 hour wait, so we bagged it.  They don’t do reservations there because they don’t have to.

Steak house at circus is every bit a good as cut or prime. Might not be mastros level but not because of the food. And you can usually always get a table. And yeah,  you have to put up with getting all the way up there and deal with a Dennys and a Krispy Kreme across the hallway as you walk in,  but I've just decided it's my default.

Can't believe it was a 2 hour wait at the Peppermill. That's crazy.

It’s the same deal at many restaurants all over the country right now, they can’t hire enough employees. So all the tables aren’t even being used. We know the demand is back, but hopefully this employee issue fades soon.

Virgin:

Paradise-seeking party people might not actually be able to go to Mykonos this year because of linger travel restrictions — but they’ll be able to enjoy a slice of the Greek island in Las Vegas.

With nightlife making its return in the US, we’re told nightlife gurus Mio Danilovic, Jason “JROC” Craig and Michael Fuller, are getting set to open the highly anticipated Élia Beach Club at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

The new daylife venue will officially open its doors as part of the hotel’s grand opening celebration weekend on June 10, we hear.

Élia Beach Club is named for Mykonos’ largest beach, known for its clear, blue surf and scenic sandy landscape.

“Élia Beach Club emanates those sensations through its ambiance,” we’re told. Backers say guests will be “[transported] to an international paradise with sounds by some of the best DJs in the world.”

It’ll begin with DJ residencies this summer including Deadmau5, Lane 8, Soffi Tukker, Ben Böhmer, Laidback Luke, Chris Mallinchak, Sultan & Ned and more.

Soffi Tukker & Sam Blacky, Lane 8, Loco Dice and DeadMau5 will play the opening weekend, we’re told.

This isn’t the first time Danilovic has flirted with tropical transportation. The Miami nightlife honcho, one the team behind South Beach’s Rockwell, recently opened Joia Beach in Miami, which is supposed to evoke a jungle-like feel.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- In anticipation of live music returning to Fremont Street Experience on June 1, officials have released the performance schedule.

Nothing wrong with some game watching at BW3 before the UFC crowd shows up to ruin it around 8pm. Of course, for all I know, all of them will still be in Vegas and BW3 could go unmolested. We like to find a BW3 with good eating options within walking distance. We had locked in to Revelry for about 3 years and then they overthought things and completely fucked up their seating scenario and we never went back.

When we go to Vegas, we stay at Aria these days and we stake out territory there on Saturday for all day CFB watching. @SydneyCarton is currently in the process of trying to push us to the new Macau place which will undoubtedly magnetize an absolute fuckton of the trailer trash currently loitering on the strip. All of the people, outside of my little brother and one other dude's little brother, have money to do with what they please and I float my brother, so he's not an anchor either. I understand that that isn't everyone's situation, so mostly I was fucking with you.

I've stayed off the strip twice in my life, and I've probably been to Vegas 50 times in the last two decades for work or pleasure. Once, in 2015, I did the Trump thing, which I explained upthread and hell, that isn't even off the strip, but it felt like it. The other time was in 2000 at some internal corporate sales conference and it was at something called Sunshine Palace or something like that. If I read the name, I'd remember it.

That trip taught me 3 things: 1) Don't ever stay off the strip, no matter how poor you are (I was a poor and they required us to stay at that hotel, but still), 2) The only good thing a mandatory conference like that is for is pussy and there was tons of it from all over NA there thinking the same shit I was and they were all early-20's to mid-30's and it was glorious, and 3) I needed to quit that job and find an actual job that could change my life, flush with corporate pussy or not. Also, you can win a bunch of money on the Wheel of Fortune slots at the airport. I won over $1,000 on $20 and got lucky with the gate attendant holding the plane for me while I cashed out.

Wait, what were we doing? Oh, Westgate and lamery. Right. It sounds like you're all set, sir.

I can tell you this - the shitshow doesn't simmer down at Bellagio. We were over there a couple of times when we went a month ago, once walking through it on Saturday night to get back to Aria. You can visibly the trash dissipate somewhere on the walk from Bellagio to the Cosmo to the Crystal Shops. I'd limit my options if I were anyone planning right now to Aria or Wynn/Encore until multiple people confirm the garbage has thinned out elsewhere.

looks like someone is arguing for the sports book at Circa downtown I’ve never stayed downtown, might check it out under the idea of, how bad can it truly be. I guess I will find out.

Vegas seems like the ultimate meeting point for all the people that are causing issues getting into fights/throwing shit at players at sporting events, causing airlines to ban alcohol sales, etc..  Surely this isn't all just poors with stimulus money that have never been anywhere and don't know how to act.   Did COVID lockdowns truly cause the riff raff you used to just wade through and avoid to all find each other and lose their damn minds?

locked and loaded for labor day weekend at the cosmo.  flights seemed to be getting more expensive (at least from Dallas) so maybe less trash walking around by then.  hopefully Uber with the surge pricing back in place will be under control as well.

Heading to Vegas Friday. Staying at Palazzo. Have reservations for all meals and for a pool day in a cabana. Will report back on the behavior of the poors.

Think the pools/cabanas were newly renovated. Friend stays there a lot and currently waiting for the Prestige/concierge lounge to reopen for 7 days/week. I’ve hung out in that and it’s quite nice for food/drinks and game watching. Great service.

I have. Nice if you want a nonsmoking lobby and no casino. Quick walk over to Aria or back route to Cosmopolitan isn’t bad either. Rooms were very nice. Would do again but I can see how some would miss having the casino next door.

looks like someone is arguing for the sports book at Circa downtown I’ve never stayed downtown, might check it out under the idea of, how bad can it truly be. I guess I will find out.

Honestly, I prefer to stay on Fremont vs Strip. You can always Uber/Lyft/Taxi/The Deuce between the two. Circa was under construction last time I was there. It looks maaavelous!

What are the craps tables going to look like this summer?  All the plexiglass, phone booth shit going to be a thing of the past?

I believe that’s already been removed, at least in most places. I’ll be able to confirm this weekend.

The wife and I spent one night on the strip a few weeks ago while we were coming back from Utah.

It was like the alien bar scene from Star Wars, an absolute freakshow of disgusting creatures.

Hopefully it will improve by September when I go back for a bachelor party.
