I know this isn't on the topic of Vegas, but what does an edible do for you?  Are you just mellow, how is it different than being drunk?  Obviously I don't know shit about cannabis.

The two different strains I had -
One made me sleep like a champ and the other was just a smooth and pleasant high, like floating on a cloud.

I find the effects of weed and alcohol to be fairly different, and not all people enjoy both. Where I'm going or what I'm doing may rule out one vs the other.

But one HUGE factor for me is  "day after" considerations. You can be stoned AF, and wake up at 8AM the next morning feeling fine and ready to get on with your day. My results vary with booze, and fuck dealing with hangovers these days.

Also not Vegas related but this is the best place to ask. Anyone been to Bossier/Shreveport recently? What are the standard minimums? What are the mask/COVID protocols? We’re heading there in a few weeks and haven’t been in about 5 years so am not at all familiar with it.

I was there last Sunday night, stayed at Ballys. I found one table and didn’t leave for 6 hours so didn’t see what all the mins were but I would guess they are all mostly $10. The table I was at was $10. No mask mandate at all.

Ballys was pretty nice, not very crowded but that’s probably because it was a Sunday night.

That’s good news all the way. Thank you. I was dreading this trip but now not so much.

Getting ready to book.  I'm assuming Uber is an option to get the 2 miles from the airport to The Strip.  I keep getting suggestions for shuttles at over $100 round trip.

Yep Uber/Lyft should be fine. Have to walk across from baggage claim to the parking garage to catch a ride but it’s pretty easy.

Trying to get my shit together for 2 nights the end of Feb.

Cosmo looks to fit the needs again, but will have to call my host and see what he can work up. Wanted a wraparound terrace, but seems their booked. Either a lanai or terrace one-bedroom I guess.

Anyone walked under the highway to the new stadium yet?

The thought of waiting/paying uber for a lift under the road seems way over priced.

Hitting Vegas for a couple nights in a couple weeks. Got a comped stay at Venetian. Gonna go to the Texas-Stanford game at T-Mobile and throw the wife in the spa that day. Hitting SW Steakhouse one night. Recs for something solid but casual for one night at Venetian or very nearby? We’re feeling very lazy and just want to chill and gamble since normally our Vegas trips are pretty manic and party filled. Don’t really want to jump casinos much if we can help it.

Ok. So starting with very casual and right there in the Venetian, I would look at Noodle Asia if you like that food type. I eat there just about every Vegas trip. Can sit next to the window and watch games as the sports book in right there next to it.

In the same food group but more fancy, Tao is solid and been there forever.

If you want to walk to nearby casinos, can look at anything at Caesars or Wynn. Bobby Flay new place called Amalfi is excellent but a little pricey. Not a bad walk over to Cromwell for Giada. Great Strip view and always enjoy the food there.

If you have certain questions post them here and I’m sure someone can respond.

Thanks for the reply. Anything other than Asian or Italian in Venetian complex that you'd recommend? I stay there all the time but rarely eat there.

I'm intrigued.

After looking at Aria per another poster, we settled on The Venetian as well.  Thanks for all current and future info.  I do have some questions, but I've got to get back to teaching at the moment.

I didn’t mention any steak places since you are already doing that one night. Outside of Asian and Italian, would recommend Milos which just moved from Cosmo to Venetian and thought of as the best seafood place on the Strip by many people.

Milo’s is a good idea. We love Greek. I love seafood, wife not so much, but this just might work.

Rodeo finals in town and entertainment (Las Vegas Sun):

Sure, country music is the name of the game this weekend in Las Vegas as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has returned to the Thomas & Mack Center and dozens of top acts are back in casino theaters and showrooms. But there’s plenty of pop favorites, holiday sounds, rock and roll and even comedy spread around the Vegas landscape this weekend, and that stuff deserves equal attention.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD The country superstar opened Resorts World Theatre Wednesday night with her brand-new residency show “Reflection” and welcomed the National Finals Rodeo back to Las Vegas in the biggest way possible. The glammed-up, greatest hits-laced production returns with performances on the Strip’s newest stage Friday and Saturday, as well as December 8, 10 and 11. December 3-4, rwlasvegas.com.

BARRY MANILOW “A Very Barry Christmas” is happening this weekend only at the Westgate International Theater. Manilow’s holiday production has toured the country in years past and temporarily replaces his smash residency show for this special time of year so catch it while you can. December 3-4, westgateresorts.com.

GEORGE STRAIT No matter what’s going on, the “Strait to Vegas” concert series at T-Mobile Arena is always one of the biggest and hottest tickets in town. This week the King of Country is bringing Caitlyn Smith as his opening act. December 3-4, t-mobilearena.com.

LAS VEGAS PHILHARMONIC VERY VEGAS HOLIDAY This special holiday celebration features performers from the Composers Showcase (Keith Thompson, Travis Cloer, Vita Corimbi, Ellie Smith, Eric Jordan Young, Michelle Johnson and more) performing Christmastime classics backed by the city’s amazing symphony orchestra. Tickets are still available for 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. performances Saturday at the Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall. December 4, thesmithcenter.com.

FOO FIGHTERS If you didn’t catch this beloved rock band’s first set at Dolby Live at Park MGM Thursday night, you’ve got one more chance Saturday night to experience “Best of You,” “Everlong,” “My Hero,” “Learn to Fly” and the rest of the Foos’ celebrated catalog. December 4, parkmgm.mgmresorts.com.

SHANIA TWAIN The country pop legend’s second Vegas residency “Let’s Go!” had just opened when the pandemic paused entertainment, and you better believe Shania can’t wait to get back onstage at Zappos Theater to pick up right where she left off — with one of the most fun musical parties on the Strip. December 4-5, caesars.com.

LIT AF TOUR The one and only Martin Lawrence anchors this postponed comedy tour, set for a stop at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena and featuring DeRay Davis, Ricky Smiley, Michael Blackson and Benji Brown. Be prepared for nonstop laughs if you hit this Strip sensation Saturday night. December 4, mandalaybay.mgmresorts.com.

Is there a walkway under the highway?
Been wondering about that for Metallica in Feb.

No. You cross over the highway on a bridge. It closes to vehicles on Raiders game days (not sure about concerts). Article which goes into detail:

I think Bigup put me onto it through this thread a few years back. We had a really cool, old time, mobby time there one night.

Eater Vegas article:

Former Dallas Cowboys running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith plans to open his own restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip in 2022. The 30,000-square-foot Emmitt’s Las Vegas takes over space at the front of Fashion Show mall.

The restaurant plans to offer space for large private and corporate events and will showcase Smith’s Pro Football Hall of Fame career throughout the venue.

So far, restaurant operators Trilogy Group have only said the first floor will offer fine dining, while the second features the Player’s Lounge, a large space to watch sports and events during the day. By night, the space converts into Club 22, an ultra lounge.

Smith played for 15 seasons in the National Football League including 13 for the Dallas Cowboys. He helped the team win three Super Bowl championship rings, appeared in eight Pro Bowls, and holds the record as the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. He also appeared on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

Smith joins former New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees in opening a restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip in 2022. Brees is one of the owners of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, opening at Harrah’s in early 2022.

This will be less successful than his time as a Cardinal.

Haven't been in a couple of years but one of the best deals I found was through these kiosks called Tix4Tonight. Bought a couple if tickets for a show there and got a complimentary dining card. Used that at several of the places we went including half off cocktails at one of the bars on the strip.

I’m going Wed - Fri next week. Haven’t been since pre-Covid. I’m interested to see how it’s different. I’m guessing I’m gonna want to bring my vax card to get in some places?

I think only needed to attend a business conference or maybe a few concert venues otherwise not needed. But can’t hurt to bring it along just in case.

Booked yesterday for my x my 40th bday. My birthday is in March but we are going on June. Staying at the cosmo. Anyone ever stay in the lanai suite? It’s got a private hot tub but the pictures I’ve found doesn’t look great. But cell phone pics suck a lot of times.

They’re ok, but IMO the terrace 1 bedroom with fountain view is the sweet spot.
