Las Vegas go hard or go home thread

Heading out to Vegas over Thanksgiving week.  Am I going to need to reserve seats in a Sportsbook for Wed-Fri, or Sat, 6AM-3PM games?

I would suggest investigating reservations either at your hotel/casino or wherever you want to watch.

Each place seems to have some free spots/seats for watching but they fill up early.

@SydneyCarton , myself and others will be at Aria starting on Wednesday. Can't wait. Going to Lotus on Wednesday night, too. Haven't been in years.

I like the old, more homely location of Lotus, but the new one is fine and closer to the strip Was there last week and enjoyed a great dinner and excellent service. I felt that Lotus had gotten bad about speeding up the pacing the last few years, but last week it was a bit more leisurely and casual. Nice evening.

So every year we go to Vegas for a college football weekend. Every year we do steak night the Friday night before the day of gamewatching. I figure a group of us have been doing it for 12+ years and have to been to damned near every steakhouse on The Strip over the course of it.

One year we go to Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris. There's like 15+ of us that year. The servers roll up and pitch the specials for the evening and the big prize that they pimp is the Beef Wellington. Ooooo's and ahhhh's ensue and more than half the table ends up ordering the BW. We had tons of appetizers, bread and butter, soups and salads, then the entrees. Not a person that ordered the Beef Wellington got through 1/3 of it. The breading was just too much. It was comical. To me, at least, as I had a filet or ribeye and ate it.

Folks did swear that the 4-6 bites they were putting down and dropping $75 on were delicious though.

Sat next to a guy at the bar in Gordon Ramsay Pub in Cesars. He had that. It looked great. If I remember correctly, for $75, you got soup or salad, the BW, and a dessert.

Ol' boy had french onion of his soup, and it looked damn good too.

Should have another one to hit up in 2023 if/when Peter Luger opens up in Caesars Palace. The date keeps getting pushed back apparently.

Anyone know exactly where this will be?  It looks like Cosmo and Aria are across Harmon from each other on the west side of LV Blvd so I guess it will be on one of the east side corners.  I think both of those are just strip malls of shops and fast food?  Isn't PH a little bit north of the intersection on that side?

Sales go live 10am PST for Amex Presale, site now has a countdown. Make sure you log in ahead to make sure your Ticketmaster login works, you don't want to get hung up and lose out because of an expired password or other stupidity. The third option, Koval hospitality, looks to be on a truly shit portion of the track for spectating.

Harmon grandstand presale was 2500, Sphere GA grandstand was 2000. I think I spent less than that incl airfare when I went to F1 Baku... Hard pass.

Spent last Wed-Sun in Vegas for work and leisure trip. It had been 3 years since I was in Vegas. I just have one question.
When the fuck did the Walmart crowd take over Las Vegas?

Immediately upon the reopening of the casinos after the pandemic shutdowns. It was a lot worse early on and has actually improved since then but still not fully back to the more heavily weighted business crowd. It is trending in that direction however as the convention and conference business picks back up.

More F1:

As of Oct. 31, Caesars Entertainment is the first major Strip hotel company to publish rates for race weekend. The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix is being held on the night of Nov. 18

the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino which has raised its room rates for that weekend by 678% from $100/night in 2022 to $787/night in 2023.

But the most expensive cheap room is at Caesars Palace at $1,291/night.

Thought the Houston people would have some strong opinions about that update. If he somehow ends up buying Wynn and then ruining it, well that would just suck.

I have a strong, non-controversial opinion: Tillman Fertita is a steaming piece of shit. So yeah, if he gets his hands on it kiss it goodbye.

My flight on American from DFW on Wed afternoon was fully of Spirit Airlines type people.

I mean it was a Weds.  I went annually Sun-Tues or Weds for a conference in Feb/March pre-pandemic and it was always a mix of either business/conference attendees or Spirit Airlines/Wal-Mart crowd taking advantage of cheap mid-week rates.
