This is either some serious 5D chess or I'm missing something.

How can you claim security is the reason you shut down the government, while literally refusing to fund Homeland Security?

This is about POWER.

Truth, facts, and reason don’t exist in the current world of the GOP.

I’m LOVING all the Democrat women that have stepped up and are at the forefront of calling Trump out.

You just know he hates that - nothing worse than a “mouthy” woman.

And while AOC is great on Twitter, the Schatz/Murphy duo are the best buddy comedy duo by far. Their individual Twitter games are good but together, they’re golden.

Today in history, one year ago today-

McCaskill (D-MO): I don’t want one moment to pass with there being any uncertainty of any soldier anywhere in the world that they will be paid for the valiant work they do on behalf of our national security...I ask for immediate consent.

McConnell (R-KY): I object.

Nancy will lose this round. The fake “I don’t like Trump” people who pretend to be “centrist” will say this is proof that Nancy and House Dems are “far left extremists.” They will call this an actual compromise offer. It isn’t but it takes some explaining. It’s brilliant actually by Trump. Most of our electorate won’t actually consider facts, just soundbites. He offered a “compromise” and Nancy said no. That’s all the mouth breathers need for #demshutdown. Thanks for the fight Nancy but our country is literally too stupid to care.

She has a 30 point spread blaming Trump and the Republicans.

She's got a ton of room and she knows it.

She's not going to negotiate until the government is open.

So...he offered pretty much dick.  Looks a lot like his sumptuous spread for Clemson.

He did offer to let them give him everything he was demanding. Such a great negotiator.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity

The 53 minute double post. That's something you don't see every day.

His ctrl C + ctrl P across forums and he forgot that he posted that talking point already

Pence is an idiot. And he has the charisma of a turnip. If Trump were to be removed from office, a President Mike Pence would never win reelection. There's a reason he wasn't part of the field of Republican candidates In the last presidential primaries

Agree, but the FAA being down is quite a different story.

I do think it's been odd that the TSA gets all the press when the air traffic controllers are also not getting paid, but way more important IMO.

Meanwhile, some House GOP members have plans:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/21/weve-got-to-keep-digging-house-gop-revives-longshot-fbi-probe-1115133

Quote

House Republicans were sent into the purgatory of the minority after their midterm drubbing. But they are still pressing ahead with longstanding probes into the FBI and DOJ — even though they lack much power to do anything about it.

Barely three weeks into the minority, a band of Trump loyalists says they want to revive the remnants of an investigation that formally concluded last year, which they believe shows that federal law enforcement officials weaponized their biases against President Donald Trump in 2016 while he was a candidate for president.

Quote

Yet the group, led by Reps. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), won’t have a single tool at their disposal to compel testimony or demand documents, and not nearly enough manpower to keep up with the work.

“We’ve got to keep digging for the truth no matter what,” Jordan said, confirming that he is working with a handful of Republicans to continue the work of a joint effort with the Judiciary Committee that former chairmen Trey Gowdy and Bob Goodlatte pursued last year.

Quote

Collins said he has already directed several of the Judiciary Committee’s GOP staff lawyers to keep their focus on what he believes to be illegal surveillance tactics by the FBI. Such an order will create a dual role for staffers: Republicans on the Judiciary Committee are also expected to be the president’s first line of defense as the panel’s Democrats possibly pursue impeachment and other issues related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation.

Jordan, who will be the top Republican on the Oversight Committee, said he, too, has tasked staff to stay the course on the GOP’s investigations into the FBI.

Love seeing this fuck sticks in the minority.

I need to try Trump's negotiation tactics in my private and professional life.  Create chaos or problems, and then use the removal of that problem as my only "compromise."  Basically you try to give up nothing in return for whatever you want.  Of course people will rightfully hate me.

And why can't the Democrats come out and say exactly that? "The President created the crisis at the border with his family separation and denial of amnesty policy. He chose to let DACA expire. He chose to shutdown the government. Why is it incumbent upon Democrats to give into his demands when he created this entire situation"?

It's almost like the same shit democratic party leadership is making the same shit decisions with the same shit process as they always have and are going to work themselves into a losing position through all of this. Whodathunkit?

A whole slew of them were on television yesterday saying that.

They are saying that.

I'm sure it would be met with a Chuck "both sides" Todd imploring Democrats to be adults and thus get railroaded by Trump/Republicans who aren't playing by polite societal norms and just steamrolling everything in their path instead.

The media is dropping the ball by acting like this is a normal negotiation.  They’re not doing a good job of explaining to the public that this isn’t the way it’s supposed to work.

They need to explain that the President isn’t part of Congress and therefore has no legitimate leverage.  Congress is supposed to pass legislation to keep the government open.

Not Donald Trump.
