Are you using any apps to look for games? I use the bravo poker live app, and it gives me real time info on all the games I'm looking for (Tourney/Cash), number of tables running, and how many are waiting. I can sign up for a waiting list on my way to the casino, or register for tournaments in advance. Big help in that hot ass Vegas heat.

I haven't used any apps.

Played $1/$2 Big O PLO 8/B tonight at Venetian.

Blasted through $600 in about 20 minutes. Action at the table was insane. Grabbed $500 from the atm, got it all in a few times and finally scooped a pot and doubled up. Board was 2357K. I had A4 for the wheel. Other guy announces bigger strait and turns over 56. Dealer starts chopping and I say he doesn't have a strait. He gets mad and says he does, dealer agrees with him and then the whole table starts telling the dealer no, I scoop. That hand took me back to the positive, and I had a nice little run at the end, hitting several nut/nuts.

The bravo poker app is really helpful to figure out what’s going on with cash games especially when in Vegas.

Sounds like a fun PLO session. Sucks that the dealer tried to give away half of your pot but thankfully the other players chimed in and helped. Aria also runs a few juicy PLO games but no free parking.

If anyone's in vegas for the weekend, I highly suggest Caesar's on a Friday night. The action is damn good with europeans who are used to playing with pounds and euros so they're just blowing through their chips, and getting super hammered along the way.

But what's really great are the endless lines of hotties in tight dresses waiting to get into their nightclub. The line extends through the poker room, and good god there's so much ridiculous talent of all kinds.

Never celebrate early, or act douchey. Brutal. Poker Gods watching...

Hilarious.

I've been going to Prime social in Houston the past 4 weeks. The first couple of times I went, I just paid for lessons. But since then I've been doing OK. My Indian pals got me into playing PLO. So that's what I've played the past few sessions at Prime.

Bought in for $400

And bought in for $600b02501f31cee3141fd552cc83db0b1c8.jpg4fe5f5a073f737322d0b34af50a29271.jpg

If Feldman had 10-7 there and folded to the all in, mike just scoops the pot. It wouldn't have been a joke. I think every player there should have been outspoken. We need to police shit like that, not any of the "I wasn't in the hand so I am going to be quiet".

Exactly. Screw those other guys who sat there silently.

This is exactly why the Cromwell needs to put a poker room in so us players can enjoy the view of all the barely legal ass walking into Drai's.

Been on a month losing streak, which always brings on horrible images of my 4-5 month long losing streak of last year. BUT, the past two Tuesdays have been pretty good.

2 hands last week i can remember are:

I'm hovering around even when i decide to raise with 4s5s to $30 UTG and get two callers. Flop comes 467 one spade and i lead out for $50 figuring i'd take it down right there. Guy to my left shoves for $94 and other guy folds. Well i figure i'm behind but i'm not folding right there to less than a min raise. Make the call and find i'm my pair is good so far, he shows 10s8s for a doulbe gutter. Didn't need it but hit a 3 for my straight and that got me ahead and on a roll.

Other hand i remember i get J8 suited and see a flop for $5. Flop comes J8A rainbow. New guy (who's not good AT ALL) leads out for $25 and i just call along with another player. Turn is a 4 and new guy leads out again for $50 this time and i call, other player folds. River is another A, which i don't like obviously and new guy bets $150. That's odd for him since i haven't seen him do that all night. I finally make the call and he says "King high". I didn't think he had an A no him. Thankfully

Last night didn't start out two well. Down about $100 and i play A8 for $5 along with 3 others. Flop comes AQ8 two spades. Think i'm on the button or cutoff on this one. Middle position bets $40 and i shove for around $100. He quickly calls and shows AQ. Nice hand i say. Buy in for $100 and with around $70 in front i get QcJc limp for $5. Flop comes 795 and it gets checked around. Turn is a 10 and someone bets $35 and i shove for my remainding $65. get two callers and i brick the river. Within 2hrs i'm stuck $300.

I sit there for a bit and decide i can't leave just yet cause the right players have too many chips in front of them. So i buy in for $400 and hover around even when i get two red 2's in the cutoff. New guy in SB makes it $15 and i call (4-5 others do too). Flop comes 2cJc5d. New guy checks surprisingly and even more surprisingly uber tight (but solid) player bets $35. Crazy Irishman to my right calls and i just call thinking the SB is gonna raise. Nope, he folds as does one more. Turn brings another J. This time it gets checked to me, i bet $80 and they both call. So now i'm hoping the last card stayes small and it does. River is a 5c bringing three Clubs on the board. Once again it gets checked to me and now i know for sure i have the best hand cause the uber tight player would never check there if he had a boat. So i bet $105 thinking no way they call and i'll be damned if i wasn't betting for max value there when they both called. Guessing uber tight player and something like AJ and the Irishman showed me a nut flush. So that was a nice pot to get me going again.

I stay about 5-600 dollars up when i get Kh9h and see a flop for $5. Flop comes KK10 and it's just me and the tight player again. we check to flop. Turn is a 7, checked to me, i bet $15. He check raises me to $30, i call. River is an A and he bets $30 again. I call and he shows 1010 for a flopped full house. Yay for coolers. Lost another couple of hands and got the fuck out winning $60.

Felt like a massive win being suck $700 in that game.

wow, your opponent played that hand horribly.

I dont mind the check on the flop, on the turn when he check raised, that bet normally would scare off the folks trying to steal a pot. and yes, that happens, but the check raise serves the purpose of establishing where you are are.

So the point of him making it just another $15 more was to get either a naked king or the 2 open end straight draws to call.  a smooth call would have been OK as well, but once he decided to check raise,  I would rather he check raised to maybe $35-40 to see if you were serious about your hand, or just playing around.

when you call the check raise, and the A hits, that completes the broadway draw, and with a pot having around $70 in it,  he has to bet more than $30 there.

on the river, $50-70 should have been his absolute minimum bet there. because a main draw made it there, along with an Ace monkey catching a river ace. Plus if the opponent has trip K's they are probably paying off $60 there every time. and there is a good chance of someone with broadway raising to maybe $125 or $150.

Yes there is a chance he got into a cooler with a guy having AK, KT, or K7, but since the flop had no raises, that usually eliminates AA, AK,  while KT is possible but he knows theres only 1 T left in the hand.   so realistically there are only 4 card combinations your opponent can have that beat you, so a tiny bet of $30 on the river is a waste.

I honestly think he could have easily gotten another $60 out of you that hand if he had played it better.  so he ended up "losing" money on the hand.

Speaking of the Cromwell adding stuff. When i was there in January i noticed they did put in a sports book by the back entrance.

$2/5. Two limpers, I raise CO to $30 w AJo. BB and limpers call.

QT9. BB donk bets $30. Limpers fold. I call.

K. BB makes it $75. I put on a broadway quality show and call.

4. BB makes it $100 w $350 more behind. I shove (have him covered) and he snaps w KJ.

Let’s get the weekend started

Playing my first big blind ante tourney today. Definitely better.

Since there are no small chips some of the early levels have odd blinds, like 100/100 and 200/300. There’s also no painful bets like 875 with 5 people calling w 1k chips.

I’m playing quite solid in the tourney and have 110k at 2k/1k/2k (assuming that’s how we write 2k ante, 1k SB, 2k BB). Only guy deeper is “Doc” (apparently there are FOUR regs called Doc, but this one is easily the most popular/beloved) to my immediate left and he’s absolutely on fire, seemingly hitting every hand.

EP opens to 5k, 2 callers to me on button w AJo. I’m not really sure where to take it as EP has been pretty tight. I decide to just call. Doc then fires out 20k. EP and other two calls, one of which had exactly 20 so he’s all in. Again, unsure what to do, I just call. 104k pot.

AQ8 rainbow. Checks to me and I (AGAIN?!?) don’t know what to do. Doc has me covered and other two still in play each have about 60k behind. I decide to bet 20k. Doc calls and others fold. 144k pot.

K. Doc checks. I’m stumped. I check.

7. Doc bets 20k. I call and he flips 77. MF!

I tilt for the next half hour, but end up bagging 40k. Come back to 3k/1500/3k tomorrow. Looks like we’ll have ~400 entries in this $350 event (flight 4 underway), so a niiiiice $140k prize-pool Id like a taste of.

Wow, I take it you won that hand

Yep. I knew it was a huge pot, but didn’t fully appreciate how rare it really was. I still remember reluctantly entering pre flop and then not feeling good about either call on the flop.

How is the online scene these days? I played a lot in the poker craze in the early 2000’s and did pretty well. Got my money out when the feds started messing with site owners. My impression is that all the easy money dried up and only the better players are left. Not sure if that’s actually true. Is there a site that anybody can recommend? I tend to do best in tournaments and single table tournaments.

Open to $25 UTG w QQ ($600). MP (tight Asian lady, reg, $350) calls. Button (old Asian dude, reg, $450) makes it $80. Folds to me. Raise here? I figure she has 22-TT or two broadway cards. He is good enough to play his button wide, but prob 88+ and suited connecters.

I call, she calls.

KJJ rainbow. Fuck what a bad flop for QQ. Checks to button who makes it $80. I can see her folding, though action is on me. I can give up or take a stab. If you don’t hold a J here you’re not happy w a chk-raise so I make it $200.

They both fold. Nice

Had to meet someone last night to get some money and they were at atx card house. Game looked fishy so I sat down.

Over the next hour I watched people go all in pre flop with j5, j7, a7, qt.

Flop k22 three handed. They get it all in on the flop. Hands shown are 22 jj and k7. 22 just called.

I get ak once, flop is 346 and two people get all in ahead of me so I fold. Other than that no pairs or premium hands.

I get kj and the pre flop raise is $15 so I call. Flop kt9. I lead out and get two callers  turn 10 and I bet out and get one caller  river 7 and I go all in and the guy calls.  I'm thinking there is no way I beat anything that calls me, stand up to leave, and he flips over AQ.

so a little chip and a chair convo today.  Played in the new league game last night, final table 8 players left.

Money is 4th place, so we arent close yet .

2 big chip stacks,  rest is everyone sitting around 40-90k.

I am UTG, I've got  63k chips in front of me,  blinds are 4k/8k,  and  there is  less than 1 minute on the clock and a good chance the next hand is going to change to 5k/10k so Im kinda in the danger zone.

Look down at  AKs and I shove. I am perfectly happy just taking down the blinds here,  but if someone calls, Im doing pretty well against almost anything except KK and AA.

MP player snap calls, everyone else clears out....

hes got AA - shit.   K on flop, so I would have been all in anyway.

AA holds up and we count chips.  He's got 60.

LOL, so, I am BB with 3k in chips.   last hand went quick, the clock doesnt hit zero its still 4/8 on blinds.

Three callers look to knock me out..  Most I can win is 12k.  I dont look at my hand, all 5 cards come out,  no one has a pair,  highest hand is J high.  I flip over my hand.... Q high.... lol

so im SB 5k with only 12 total,  1 caller of 10k,  and I again dont look because the math says shove, both call the extra 2k.    and they check down.  turns out I have KJ, and there is a K on the board.... so now I am sitting at 36k.

3-4 hands later, I look down at 4-4, and shove. I get called by a big stack and then a shorter stack BB with only 21k calls.   they have AK & AQ,  4-4  holds up. and I am suddenly sitting a little under 100k.... and I proceed to make the money in 4th place.

I will take it.

Back from Vegas. Some highlights.

The Giant, you start with 25,000 chips. Pretty early on it was apparent that the one good player was the guy two seats to my left. He was about 30 and aggressive but in good spots. The guy 4 seats to my right was this guy from India who was first time to Vegas. He was raising a lot, but not in a good way. Had already seen him raise with 2-3 and j-9 off and I had reraised him once and he folded preflop. Well I knew I wanted to trap the good player at some point because of his position on me. So I am on button and the Indian guy raises to 2100 with blinds at 400. I look down at pocket Kings. The good guy is in the big blind. I just call hoping to either get the BB to be frisky preflop or the Indian guy to spew post flop. The BB raises to 6500 (cha-ching). The Indian guy shoves (cha-ching) knowing the BB is probably thinking he is light and making a play. We all have around 25k chips. The good player was up to 50k but had just lost a big pot. I think for a few seconds and announce all-in. I am moving my chips forward and I didn't hear the BB say call but look over and see his two cards face up. Pocket Aces. (not cha-ching). I can't believe he woke up with that hand in that spot. Indian guy turns over A-6 suited. Dealer gives me a King (cha-ching) in the window. Felt amazingly good.

1-2 cash game at Harrahs. Bought in for $140. Tripled up by flopping straight with J-9 in 5 way pot. Then just steadily won pots because most of my stack was won money and didn't have much risk. Got up to about 2050. Then got stack down to 1400. Probably was speculating a little too much. This aggressive 30ish guy with long hair came to the table and wanted to get in pots with me. he really didn't take much from me. One hand I had A-J and checked a King high flop and he bet out $30. I call. blank on turn, i check he bets $60. I call with my Ace high. River is a Q. I check and he checks. Fuck. I was wanting him to bet $100 with nothing, but knew he hit the Queen when he checked. Sure enough he was trying to bluff me with Q-3 and spiked the river.

So I worked my way up to like 1700 something and was ready to go. I racked up my chips and was two hands from the blind and was going to play the two hands. The long hair guy said he wanted me to get aces and him Kings and suck out on me. He had like $700. I promised him that if I got pocket aces i was folding. And I would have folded them. I said "I want 4-5 of hearts". So first hand dealer gives me 5-6 spades. I limp in and hit nothing. So the last hand I look down at 4-5 of clubs. So guy at end of table raises to $7. Next guy reraises to $14. This was weird action that wasn't happening before. Long hair dude calls and I call and original raiser calls. Flop is Q-4-3. All hearts. Check. check. long hair dude bets $15. I don't believe him. I call. The others fold. Turn is a 4. Long hair dude bets out $40. I call. River is a 3. He checks. I move out a stack of $100. He is a little pained. He says "did you flop a flush?". I told him "I told you what hand I was going to play". I turn over the 5 of clubs to show him. He thinks for a few seconds and calls. I turn over the 4. Again i said "I told you what hand I was going to play." Felt amazingly good. Cashed out for $1938.

The next day, my last day of poker, the goal really was not to lose back my money. I seem to always do well the first day, then get a little too loose and lose back a chunk. Some reason I went to Planet Hollywood. Bought in for $140. Lost it quick. Bought in for $140. Lost it quick. Bought in for $200. Bought in for $100. Lose $580, most of it to one guy. So I am not happy. Just played so stupid. Couple hours later I go back to harrah's. I bought in for $200. Decided to focus and play right. Not much happening. I get stack up to $300 but then back down to around $200. I am starving so I go get some food at the food court and bring it back to the table. 3 hands later i get Q-J. There is a $5 button straddle. 3 or 4 limpers and the button raises to $20. He hasn't been raising. everyone calls, so I do as well. Flop is Q-J-10. I bet out $55. I am a little worried the button has A-K. He is thinking, and he calls. The next guy calls as well. The turn is a Q. I have a little over $100 and I shove. The button thinks and calls. The next guy calls as well. Turn is another jack. Fortunately neither had a Q, so I didn't get screwed with a chop. I have another good hand where UTG to my right raises I reraise with Q's and he goes all in for about $100. He has A-Q and flop was A-Q.

So I am sitting at about $740. I wanted to get up to $780, to totally erase that -$580 debacle from earlier. I get J-9 diamonds. Flop is 2-8-8, two diamonds. I bet $10 on flop. Tight guy in SB calls. He has less than $100 stack. Diamond on turn. He leads out for $15. I call with flush. On the river he leads out for another $15. I played it pretty passively and just call. most likely he just had an 8 but could have had bigger flush or boat. He turns over just an 8 and I win. I tip the dealer $1 and count my chips. I have exactly $780, up $580. It is about 12:30 and have to wake to 5:30 for my flight. I get up and cash out dead even for the day.
