there is no way Del lets Major come close to the UT program he has enough bullshit he still needs to clean up from the past two decades he is not going to reignite the bev kearney lawsuit shit just to have Major here

if UH cannot land Holgerson (who I think will be a disaster for them) then I think they end up with Briles (dad not jr. or Kliff).....and yes a lot of those dumb fucks WANT Kliff they seem to think he sucked as a coach because of Lubbock not because he was total shit as a head coach

3 players, 8 rapes I assume

Sadly, more like 8 guys raping 3 girls.  But they don’t allow alcohol on campus so they’re better Christians.

Good summary of the situation in this article.     I wish the best for Major.:

Excerpt:

Cougar fans have shown their displeasure with the Applewhite regime in several ways: there’s no enthusiasm around the program, season tickets are slipping, and there are thousands of empty seats at home games.

Houston has never had enthusiasm around the program, they never sell many season tickets, there are always thousands of empty seats at every football game.  What is the problem?

Waiting to announce Holgy's hire as new HC at UH till after Dec 31st..... so Holgy's WV buyout drops to only $1M.  Saves UH $1.5M

surprised at the reaction here.  can only assume it's because major is a longhorn.  he is nothing more than a spare ass coach.  the decision to let him go is a fine one.  the timing is the worst part of all of it.

Listening to the Matt Thomas show last week, he said that Major's job was safe, but as the week went on that "powerful people at U of H" were hearing the fans' displeasure with Major and that beat down by Army and may be swayed to lean a different direction.

Not sure how u fire a guy who had 9 wins his first season (they would have beaten utsa, thanks harvey) and 8 wins his 2nd season after losing his two best players to injury

they played in the championship game this year, right?

jfc firing anyone after 2 years, let alone with that resume is stupid

Sorry (not sorry) to pile on but this is the last paragraph. Ouch.

You can’t buy class. You can’t buy respect. And as Houston sputters through the most awkward of coach transitions, they will slog through the next few days knowing that they are the definitive embarrassment of college sports. They’ve mixed Big 12 ambition with Pop Warner professionalism, and everyone in college athletics is laughing at Houston officials for not realizing how awful this all looks.

Houston has to make the call.

Art Briles.

It's the perfect time. We have a walking, lying, molesting, traitorous moron as president and most of the idiots in this state bend over to take his small sclong up the ass daily.

Compared to that hiring Briles is nothing.

Do it. We can always use new villans in sports.

Levine had 3

5-7, 8-5 then 7-5 fired before the bowl game that UH won for an 8 win season

with the "must notify" language in the Holgar contract it will be funny to see if WVU drags Holgar and UH through the mud and seeks o prove/proves that Holgar or his agents had discussions without telling WVU....IF UH gets Holgar that would just add to the shit show that Holgar will become there

There's nothing political about it. Everything there is verifiably true and a statement of fact with more evidence to back it up than the law of gravity itself.

He’s almost as overrated as a coach as he was as a player by many of our fans.

To be fair, he WAS a good player (even if not as good as his legend).

He’s never shown himself to be a good coach.

We can debate on whether a school such as UH should be firing coaches after year 2, but the biggest mistake they made was hiring Major in the first place.

IIRC, they were concerned about their recent history of having coaches use their school as a "stepping stone" to P5 jobs (Briles. Sumlin, and then Herman). Aside from obvious continuity associated with keeping Major, the big reason for keeping him was his willingness to stick around for the "long haul." Who else do you think UH should have made a run at instead of Major once Herman left?

Holgersen leaving WVU for UH??  LMFAO.

That was my thought as well, but the Thamel article indicates that Holgo isn't happy at WVa (not enough hoors?) and that he might move back to Houston, where he was OC for a while.

Re: Halgorsen and UH rumor

If the playoff is increased to 8 teams with automatic G5, who has better chance at playoffs, UH or WV? UH (Halgorsen) is then battling UCF, Boise, Cincy to make playoffs every year instead of OU and UT and every other blue blood. Good G5 may be more attractive than some P5s if making playoffs is the measurement. Assuming pay is similar.
