So we the voters are going to have an opportunity to elect someone to prison.

Wonderful.

If a Democrat can't beat Donald Trump in 2020, the party should dissolve.

Federal Deficit up 77% so far this budget year.

Quote

WASHINGTON — The federal government recorded a budget surplus in January. But so far this budget year, the total deficit is 77 percent higher than the same period a year ago.

The higher deficit reflected greater spending in areas such as Social Security, defense and interest payments on the national debt. Meanwhile, the government collected lower taxes from individuals and corporations, reflecting the impact of the $1.5 trillion tax cut President Donald Trump pushed through Congress in 2017.

But wait, there's good news!

Quote

Revenue, however, is up is in tariffs — border taxes collected on imports — which totaled $25 billion in the October-January period, up 91 percent from the same period a year ago. This reflects the higher tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on China and other nations in various trade disputes.

As Trump has reminded us many times, China is paying us more because of the tariffs, so that's a win!

Oh wait.

Quote

The border taxes are not paid by the countries where the goods are being produced but rather by the U.S. companies importing the products into the United States. Those costs are generally passed on to American consumers.

Fiscal conservatives are up in arms...somewhere, I'm sure.

Elect based on popular vote, as we should, and this isn't an issue.

That would be great and I fully support amending the Constitution to eliminate the electoral college.

I also support legislation that would award a state's electoral votes based on who wins the popular vote.

This is probably the best way to beat the electoral college.

It wouldn't suck if we actually set the # Representatives based on 10-year census data, instead of sticking to 1911 numbers.

I've been saying this for a long time now.

This is a direct parallel to how Rome fell and people need to pay attention to it. Trump is in the same spot Julius Caesar was in. He can't leave office willingly, or he'll be prosecuted immediately.

In Trump's case, even aside from Russia, it's a shitload of prosecutions. Trump can't step down, because as soon as he does, Trump Org assets will be seized through RICO and Trump will spend the rest of his life in jail.

Our very own Orange Julius.

The Roman Republic had a similar law that serving consuls and proconsuls could not be prosecuted.  Julius Caesar was worried he would be prosecuted after his term as proconsul of Gaul and Illyricum was up if he wasn't re-elected as consul in Rome before that happened.  So he decided to start a Civil War instead just to be safe.

But we don’t even have that law. It’s just a procedural thing by the DOJ. There should be no reason that the piece of shit can’t be indicted.

And Clinton lied because he cared about his family...

God, my state is full of a bunch of morons. I'm embarrassed.

Dammit.  I really try to not get worked up over these things, but I fail, often.

I just don't understand the right's ongoing refusal to criticize Trump for his horrible behavior.  I mean, I get their motivations, but the rank hypocrisy is jarring.

If Donald Trump loved his family that much he wouldn't have fucked a porn star while married to Melania, not to mention doing so while Melania was pregnant with his son Barron.  There is no gray area here.  If you truly "love your family" so deeply that you don't want them having to deal with public discussion about the fact that you fucked a porn star while married, then DON'T FUCK A PORN STAR WHILE MARRIED.

So I had a conversation w/ an old hs friend who is a full on Trumpster who has gone off the religious right deep end.  His answer?  I shit you not:  "That was before he'd been saved, if God forgives him I can.'  I followed this statement w/ a smartass "I've been away from the church for a few decades and didn't realize paying off porn stars now counted as penitence."

His response "We should change the subject and agree to disagree".  Fuck hypocritical Christians...which is damn near every one of them.

The problem there is that your friend is probably a man of true faith, and he's being fooled by power mongers masquerading as men of the church.

I say this as a Christian who is absolutely ashamed of what a large faction of Christianity has become.  I not only don't know how to save them, I don't even want to.

That's why this is all so stupid.  How do you know when that slimeball Cohen is telling the truth?

When he brings documents that back up his testimony?

When he's going to prison for three years for lying to Congress, and he knows that if he lies again, that three years will become nine or ten years?

When his testimony pretty much confirms stuff we all already knew anyway?

Donald Trump lies every fucking day.  Explain to me why I should believe anything he says.  Of course Cohen is slime ball.  Why else do you think Trump employed him as a fixer for over a decade?

Sounds similar to what I experienced last night. Super religious cousin couldn’t even bring himself to admit that Trump may not be a great guy. But full on blinding hatred for AOC, Obama, and Hillary.

Probably a lot of JFK-level conspiracy leaps, but man, that's a lot of dead Russians and overdoses.  Creepy.

The narrative that Trump isn’t a compromised Kremlin asset is more terrifying because it means he did all the treasonous/anti-American behavior completely of his own volition and he’s really crazy.

For Trump so loved his Family, he gave a pornstar a rusty trombone while his wife bore his other begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall forever be remembered as a hypocritical sack of human shit.

It's going to be awesome in a few years when Barron hits the speaking circuit to raise money for dad's commissary, then like a real Trump keeps all the money he raises for himself.
