He’s not going to handle this news about Hicks cooperating very well. She was his hot little confidant/protege.

And probably his dream threesome along with Ivanka

I mean whatever. At this point, Mueller has everything he needs from Hope, et al in addition to people that the Intel Committees have probably never heard of. I know it makes for good fodder in the Russia investigation horse race, but we've got Beethoven finishing up his symphony, this is Maroon 5 playing around with auto-tune. Pardon my lack of excitement.

No, it’s quite possible that Mueller didn’t veer down certain paths which the Dems now can. Fraud unrelated to Russia. Tax evasion.

Agreed to a certain extent. Mueller did come across that scenario and referred it to SDNY, see Micheal Cohen.

Not sure what kind of light Hope Hicks is going to shed on Tax Evasion.

I get that Trump has no plan and just does whatever the hell he wants, but how does he or anybody who is advising him think that bashing McCain is a winning strategy... and for 3 days straight. There has to be something deeper we don't know about.

Trump is on day 3 of accelerating his argument with a dead guy.  And somehow he's losing the argument.

You should hear what he thinks about Frederick Douglass.  Trump communicates with more dead people from the WH than Nancy Reagan.

Not sure why Trump thinks attacking McCain is gonna help consider it hurts him with the old white guy vote but whatever. He’s fucking insane so who cares. Just ride it out until he aint the president no mo and throw his ass in prison. Rikers preferably in a non segregated cell.

His bashing of McCain drew loud cheers at CPAC.

Nothing shows strength and courage quite like picking a fight with a dead guy.

Yeah, it doesn’t hurt him at all with his base.

It doesnt hurt with his piece of crap shithole base but I guarantee it hurts him with the old white dude “I vote republican no matter what vote.” Those anti-Obama anti-“socialist” votes dont like it even though they still support trump because “R.” Trump’s actions are stupid but as forest gump said, stupid is as stupid does.

He could announce a new program that involved sodomizing infants and they would still cheer.

This McCain bashing doesn't hurt him with his base, but there are a bunch of military types who are not at all happy about it.  The crowd at the tank factory was reported to get progressively quieter as Trump dragged on.  I'm sure some of them were thinking "uh, this guy isn't well", and just sat in uncomfortable silence, but others were definitely pissed.

Keep it up, Donald.  80,000 votes is a really small number.

Trumps dad paid him to stay out of war but his supporters thank trump is more of a patriot than McCain or mueller, both who fought in Vietnam when they didn’t have to.

There are plenty of people in this world who believe anything they are told.

That twitter barrage of 50 tweets over Saturday and Sunday happened right before we found out that the FBI were going to town on Cohen’s emails and phone calls long before the raid.

Trump is trying to distract himself.

That’s why he’s slagging on McCain.  Dossier derangement syndrome.

Yeah I'm sure those military types attending a Trump rally will have quite the furrowed brows as they pull the lever for Trump in 2020.

Well, it wasn't a rally -- it was a visit to a working factory, with presumably mandatory attendance.  And all you have to do is listen to almost any interview with retired brass to get a sense for what at least some of our military leaders are thinking.  I'm not saying they're all gonna vote (D), but some will.

Holy shit, this isn't even word salad. I don't know what this is.
It’s interesting that a man gets appointed by a deputy and he writes a report, you know, never figured that one out. Man gets appointed by a deputy and he writes a report.
I had the greatest electoral victory in the history in the country, tremendous success. Tens of millions of voters and now somebody’s going to write a report who never got a vote. We’ll see what the report says. Let’s see if it’s fair. I have no idea when it’s going to be released.

I shot the sheriff but I didn’t not vote for the deputy!

Fun fact:  Trump's percentage of total elector votes was #46 in our country's history (out of 58 Presidential elections).  Top 79%.  WE'RE NUMBER 1!!!1!

Somewhere Walter Mondale is breathing a sigh of relief.

Trump could go take a shit on McCain's grave and his base wouldn't care. "Well McCain took a shit on conservatives when he did the thumbs down on Obamacare".

The fact that my dad -a veteran before anything else - isn’t facebooking about this ... well no it doesn’t shock me

He posted in his own words that trump is a godly man because he at least paid the hush money for stormy out of his own pocket.

Who are the people who voted for Trump, aren't his base, and were prepared to vote for him again until his latest barrage on McCain? They were wth him until this past weekend but now they'll vote for Elizabeth Warren if she wins the nomination because this was finally the last straw?

No they will stay home, not vote for president, or like every other pseudo trump supporter on this board, vote for Gary Johnson.

Did I misinterpret what you said? If Trump's latest attacks on McCain are going to turn someone to vote D then it stands to reason that they were going to vote R before, does it not? I mean, if they were going to vote D anyway then they wouldn't be relevant to your assertion. You said you weren't talking about his base. Okay then, who were you talking about? I don't know how else to interpret what you said.

You said that not all those military men will vote D, but some will. Yeah, the ones who voted D in 2016 will do so again. I'm saying the ones who voted R in 2016, if they hadn't already resolved by now to vote D in 2020, are still going to vote R.

I didn't say that.  I did say a crowd, much of which I presume was his base, didn't like it.

I also said military brass seems to be disgusted by Trump.  I think he lost their vote by 6 months into his term.  Will some of them vote D over R if Trump is the candidate?  Yeah, some will.  More will likely stay home.  It will be interesting to see how the military vote plays out -- I bet Trump has lost some support.

As I said, 80,000 is a really small number. I've said for well over a year that the vast majority of Trump's 63M aren't flipping.  You're not educating me on anything, but hey, thanks for trying, Dad.

This backs up my hunch:

Quote

Exit polling in the 2016 presidential election saw military members and veterans vote nearly two-to-one in favor of Republican candidates. The Military Times poll doesn’t show as big a disparity with troops this election cycle, but that could shift given that more than 26 percent say they don’t plan to support either party.

Troops surveyed had a 44 percent favorable view of Trump against a 43 percent unfavorable view. Women, minorities and officers had significantly lower opinions of his tenure, and men and enlisted service members offered more support.

Brass (and women) dislike Trump more than the enlisted troops.

Quote

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s approval rating among active-duty military personnel has slipped over the last two years, leaving today’s troops evenly split over whether they’re happy with the commander in chief’s job performance, according to the results of a new Military Times poll of active-duty service members.

About 44 percent of troops had a favorable view of Trump’s presidency, the poll showed, compared to 43 percent who disapproved.

The results from the survey, conducted over the course of September and October, suggest a gradual decline in troops’ support of Trump since he was elected in fall 2016, when a similar Military Times poll showed that 46 percent of troops approved of Trump compared to 37 percent who disapproved. That nine-point margin of support now appears gone.

By my calculation, there are roughly 4.3M active, reserve, and retired military in the US.  Let's say half of them vote.  That's 2.15M votes.  If we assume no 3rd party votes (a big assumption), that leads to a 55/45 split, or 1.18M votes for Trump and 970K votes for Hillary in 2016 (210K votes more for Trump).  If we're now at 44/43, that puts us at a 51/49 split, or 1.1M for Trump and 1.05M for the D candidate (50K more votes for Trump).

The math is approximate, rough, flawed, whatever you want to call it, but that's all the effort I'm going to put into it.   It would seem to indicate we might see a shift of 160,000 votes away from Trump in the military alone.  That's twice his 2016 margin in the 3 states that swung the election.
