and stop buying shit from people who have max contributed to Trump.  We're already in the cold civil war.

I'll continue to not eat Bill Miller BBQ not only because I love myself, but because fuck them.  Didn't know about their breakfast tacos being decent - I'll continue to get mine from the Mexicans at the taqueria around the corner.

yeah, I don't think anyone is really taking one for texas by boycotting Bill Miller "BBQ"

bottom line...i'd rather my daily creamy behemoth be composed of decent 'cue instead of that bullshit.  so ima pass on Bill Miller's and say it was for the cause.

I don't understand why white people are the ones most offended that Beto goes by the nickname Beto. It really does bother them. Mexicans understand that your white friend basically became Mexican when he hung out with you and your family and therefore picked up Mexican nick names.

I doubt any of it is sincere. The whole saying "Robert Frances O'Rourke" thing is similar to Aggy saying "t.u", it shows that you're part of a group with all the same beliefs. The people acting offended by the name "Beto" would think it was cool if they had their own Mexican nickname.

Maybe there are a few that think they "caught" Beto trying to pull a Rachel Dolezal, who knows.

In this country, from what I can see if you could grind college football (and other big money sports) to a halt, the wheels would come off. Unfortunately, it would probably hurt a lot of innocent workers who rely on the sports machine and its satellite supporting economies, but fall and sports has a lot of $$ and a lot of airtime. Way more airtime than BBQ.

Choosing where to spend our money is one of the most democratic, capitalist, choices we can make.  Why does the GOP oppose this?  WHY IS THE GOP SOCIALIST???????
You're not supposed to avoid spending your money. You're supposed to buy shit and then set it on fire when the company does something to piss you off! Duh.

It's hard to see why people would do otherwise. But like they said on Seinfield, grocery stores still sell canned fruit even though the real thing is just an aisle away.

I know you will agree, Pancho.  The real issue is, say for Texas, of the registered voters who will have the largest number of actual voters...the 52% or the 48%.  The unknown is when will this Dem upturn actually make a real difference in 2020 or 2024.  Dems have to shout TURNOUT.

first they need to make sure they haven't been removed from the voter rolls.

I mean, it’s like when senator  Dick Luger changed his name to appease the NRA donors to his campaign.  Nothing wrong with staying true to your roots, to by your real name...Cock Beretta.

Seriously though—-why is the fucking list of business donors so hard to find?   I need more excuses not to buy shit and I would love to stick it to these companies.

I'm not worried about the Army, I'm worried about law enforcement.

To this point, any gun control measures implemented against law abiding citizens should be enforced against LE. These dumb ass notions that we are going to simultaneously strip citizens of certain firearms while building up the domestic LE with more DHS funding to buy tanks and guns is fucked.

It needs to be both.  I agree they should unite,  but they need the support of enough people to break the MSM lethargy and actually have them report completely, accurately.  Not pandering to this both sides shit.

MLK's Peace Marches worked, the suffragettes worked.

I agree that MLK's Peace Marches effected change, but I would also argue that Malcom X's impact was greater and effected change much quicker than MLK.

I'm not advocating violence, but the GOP/conservatives like to play with a different set of rules, and just like all bullies, they can't handle it when someone finally stands up to them. They are the ultimate hypocrite. What Castro did needs to be expanded on and done everywhere. You don't get to donate to Trump and then cry when people stop frequenting your business because of it. You don't get to demonize immigrants and weaponize the immigration debate against your opponents, while simultaneously employing undocumented immigrants on your farm like Nunes is doing.

This isn't just left/right politics, Donald is something completely different. It's time to do the shit they do back to them.

This needs to be shouted from the fucking rooftops.  How many Ds are going to go to the polls having not checked to make sure they are in the system because they always have been and then magically they won't be there?  oops, too late, you can't vote.

i made the mistake of wandering into the dayton/el paso visit thread, holy shit what a mess.

anyhow, i turned on cnn for a couple minutes, and the mayor (and a senator) were saying that when trump met with police in dayton, he said he wanted to give them awards and medals.  they responded that they just want assault weapons off the street.

trump really has a unique gift to read the room and say what is right.

This should be a centralized effort by the Dem state party offices, given everything we know about the way the Rs (and the Russians) operate.  Not only should they be encouraging everyone to check that they remain on the rolls, they should have a reporting mechanism so that they can keep tabs on who's getting removed.  I have a funny feeling there will be a lot more Rodriguezs getting bumped than Smiths, but I'm sure that will just be a coincidence.

When I visited El Paso, many police officers told me that people needed more assault rifles to combat the Mexican cartels and illegals crossing our borders and shooting up our Walmarts. -Trumph probably

Well, it's not, if you have a primer:

https://splinternews.com/heres-how-to-find-out-who-donated-thousands-to-trump-in-1837027340

Quote

Yesterday, the campaign of Congressman Joaquin Castro (brother of current presidential candidate Julián) published the names of dozens of San Antonians who had already given the maximum amount allowed under federal law to the re-election campaign of Donald Trump.

This sparked outrage from Republicans and some in the media who compared the publication of the names to “doxxing” the people who had donated to Trump. The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman called it “dangerous.”

Quote

When you donate to political candidates, you’re giving the Federal Election Commission permission to publish your name and occupation, which they do on their website as part of campaign finance data. It is not doxxing. But not everyone knows how to access that information, so we’ve decided to put together a guide for you to find out who in your community has given thousands of dollars to Donald Trump, or really any other political candidate.

1. Go to fec.gov/data. You should see the screen below; either you can look up all contributions to a given candidate, or you can look up individual names to see if they’ve donated in this cycle or in the past. For our purposes today, we’re just going to click on the name of, oh, I dunno, Trump, Donald J.

2. Once you click through, you’ll be taken to a screen which allows you to toggle which election cycle you’re looking at. We want the 2020 election and “all years,” meaning everything our candidate has raised since 2017. Then click on “browse receipts.”

3. When you pop through to the next screen, you’ll be able to narrow your search down using the filters. (The election cycle and political committee are automatically toggled.) You can find who in your area is bankrolling the campaign of a man who is responsible for this, and this, and this, and this, and this, by simply plugging in your zip code or the name of the city in which you reside.

For our purposes, I plugged in New York, NY, and found dozens of people who’ve given the max to Trump. Here’s one: Woody Johnson, the co-owner of the New York Jets and Trump’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Wow!

(Note: Clicking on “open original image” will show you the original itemized receipt from the FEC. That, unlike Castro’s tweet, shows their home addresses.)

To mix up the cities a little bit, here’s D.C., which, in addition to the maximum contributions from individual donors, includes a whopping $165,702 from the law firm Jones Day.

4. It’s likely that if you live in a semi-major city, you’re going to have a bunch of Trump donors to comb through. So if you just want to see the big boys, you can go back to the spreadsheet and click on the “amount” tab so the arrow next to it is pointing down.

That way, you’ll see the biggest donations first. And if you want to see if one of those major donors had given the max, all you need to do is look at the “year to date”; if it says $5,600.00, like Woody Johnson’s above, then they gave the max.

Once we move to this, though, it'll be much easier:

Pimping OANN? This is pretty clearly an attempt to get Shep fired.

Shep is the rare FOX newscaster that doesn't skew his news stories. He's the one guy on there that I'll watch.

OANN is so far right they make Hannity look like Bernie Sanders.

Chris Wallace has his moments where he has the semblance of a journalist. He's often a tougher interviewer than Chuck Todd.

Yes, and FOX uses both Wallace and Shep as cover for the white supremacists they have on every night. See we do real news!  Look at Shep!

If either of them had any decency they'd say no to providing that sheen of fake legitimacy to Fox and they would go elsewhere.

word went out earlier today that the press wasn't allowed in or around the hospital because "this wasn't a photo op".  but apparently he brought a white house photographer/videographer and they will release images on their own.

gotta love that whole free press thing.

I don't get your position. I've been calling for public shunning of Trump voters as racists for awhile.   (I just think public officials should leave that to activists and citizens rather than doing it themselves.)   I've been arguing that we should treat them like the klan, and that they should be completely written off when it comes to national political strategy.   You've opposed that, arguing that we shouldn't treat them like the Klan until there is a much larger, critical mass of anti-Trump support.  That, until then, we should not publicly shame Trump supporters or write them off politically, but rather try to reach out to them to show them the harmful real-world impacts of Trump's policies on people they care about.

But then Castro calls out a list of private citizen Trump donors as supporting white supremacy and you're like "100% fuck 'em."  Did the shootings change your mind about how we should treat Trump supporters or am I misunderstanding something about your position?

I draw a careful difference between Trump  supporters and Trump voters.  Many of his voters are not fans of Trump, but vote for him for any number of reasons.  Some of those folks can be converted.  Hell, many already have been.
