The issue isn't Pence, it's DOTUS.

DOTUS would never give that kind of power to Pence.  DOTUS does not fear or respect Pence.  Pence is a willing supplicant, and that is all.

So, he's going to pardon himself, and his kids.

Him pardoning himself would be the end of the GOP - I don't think those on the fence, and the younger folks, would tolerate that.  Many will disagree with me, but I do think that's one of those lines that would put the GOP in a world of shit.

The youth helped elect Obama, they could easily get off their asses and end the GOP's power for something like this.

Man, I wish I could agree with you, but no.

The GOP will pat each other on the back and say, "Didja see all those lib tears!  Boy howdy!!"

Evangelicals will commit voter fraud and vote twice (or more) in the same election to get his ass in office if it's necessary to keep out some godless socialist mixed race lover Democrat out of the Oval Office.  Hell, I'm pretty sure some state election officials will pass out the ballots to be filled out on Sunday morning, then collected with offering.

Where were they in 2008 and 2012?  We had a Muslim Socialist Communist Community Organizer Atheist from Kenya named Barrack Hussein Obama II on the ballot, and somehow they couldn't be bothered to get off their asses and elect a war-hero or a clean-cut Mormon.

Someone needs to take one for the country and release the whistle blower's report before they can try to get a head of it with the call transcript.  Playing by the rules doesn't work when one side doesn't acknowledge them.

Huh, odd that it takes a day for the transcript to be released.

Not odd at all, he knows he (and Fox News) only needs 24 hours to get their narrative out there to his base.  They don't give a fuck about what the rest of the country thinks.

Fox News won't be focused on some idiot sports bloggers or Her Emails tonight, it'll be all about laying out the narrative, and you can bet that folks at Fox News have copies of the transcripts.

No way the call he releases is the one that caused the whistleblower to submit a complaint. Probably more than one call.

Don’t we already know that it was more than one phone call? A pattern of behavior?

I think he’ll be absolutely giddy. It’s what he wants. He knows he won’t be removed. Senate won’t vote for it.

But now Trump can play the “witch hunt” card. Just like with Mueller.

It’s the only chance he has to energize Republicans to come out and vote for him. “Woe is me. I’m the victim of the mean Democrats.”

It’s a Hail Mary, but it’s worth the shot from his perspective.

Man, nothing on earth is more obvious than the fact that Trump is terrified of being impeached.

I was being facetious. The timing makes perfect sense for the GOP and whatever they're going to release will obviously not be something that harms Trump.

Of course, there is some wicked irony in him getting impeached trying to beat Biden, only to see Warren win the nomination.

Also trying to get someone to fake some dirt on Biden, who is the nominee he would least need any dirty ratfucking shenanigans to beat.

He doesn't exactly show an aptitude for having a good focus and being able to pay attention to more than 1-2 things.

This here.  Biden is the least of his concerns.

What are the odds Trump learned of the WB name and "accidently" calls them out on Twitter?

I don't disagree with Gabbard. But, having Dotard remain in office is even worse for the country, which is why you have to do it. Plus this little thing called the constitution and the rule of law.

We are divided because of the Republican party and specifically, Donald J. Trump in office sowing hate and discord.

He has to be gotten rid of.  And not impeaching is letting the Republicans continue to get away with everything.

all part of the plan to make one transcript conflate in the trumpkin consciousness with the entire whistleblower report. this has kellyanne's fingerprints all over it.

and it will work, just watch.

Yep, that is exactly what is going to happen.  A single, likely redacted, transcript is going to be used as a stand in for the entire report and it is going to be wiped away as "nothing" or "not enough."  We've seen this with the dossier and we've seen it with the Mueller report already.  It worked then and it will absolutely work now.

You mean it will be written on a napkin with a sharpie, right?

A redacted transcript of one phone call would be hilarious. "See? Ok so we're good now right?".

If by hilarious, you mean bought into by 100% of Republicans, then yes.

An ex-Republican I know forwarded me a fundraising text he got from the GOP this afternoon.   They had everything lined up to capitalize on this.  Even though Trump will act like a total bitch about it, Team R in general is probably thrilled.  The Senate won’t remove him, and it gives them something to fire up the base for 2020.

It still needed to be done, though.

Has to happen. This is bigger than polls. This is a President flouting the rule of law. Either we have a Congress and a Republic or we don’t. Time to make that stand.

The only constant of Trump's presidency is that his approval rating rises when he stays out of the news, and drops when he's a featured player.  This ensures that he will be front and center for the foreseeable future.

The Republicans were never going to react any other way, but their muted defense (aside from the usual chucklefucks) leading up to today about Ukraine tells me all I need to know about what they really think about the situation.

Yup. It’s above politics and the next election. This dude is breaking the law and using his presidency to get rich, punish his enemies and flout the constitution. Dude gotta go.
