To be fair, I really wasn’t on my game at any point today except for the crucial 10 minute client presentation.

I guarantee that the Wall And govt shutdown status is because of Stephen miller.  He’s been fighting anything Hispanic since he was in high school when he protested school announcements being repeated in Spanish.  Who does that?

dont get me wrong, trump would have still yelled about the need of a wall at his rallies but he wouldn’t have shut down the govt over it.    In 2020, the rubes still would have yelled proudly that Mexico would pay for the upcoming wall.

Donald Trump has been a political escape artist since the beginnings of his shady, scummy, shiftless life. From his spurious (see what I did there?) evasion of the Vietnam draft to his serial bankruptcies and business failures, his wrecked marriages, and his current reign of misrule, Donald Trump’s ability to detonate a media IED to distract from his troubles has always served him well. Whenever there’s trouble from some Trump outrage, he never apologizes, never corrects his behavior and never, ever goes forth and sins no more. Instead, he deliberately creates some larger outrage, tossing red meat to a media always eager to chase it.

That was the Trump shutdown from the beginning, and the reason for his manic insistence on “The Wall” scam as its justification.

On Tuesday night, Trump’s flaming dumpster train of distractions, lies, cons, and empty political promises flew off the rails and plunged into a mountain of burning tires in one of his worst public speeches.

After 17 days of a government shutdown temper tantrum, Trump needed a game-changing home run of a speech to change the political climate in D.C. He failed.

He did manage to shove to the back burner the news of his campaign chair colluding with the Russian gov't, sharing polling data with intelligence operatives so they could most effectively target their psy ops campaign against American voters in order to swing the election in his favor.

Yep. It's got to be the best of the Trump farks. It captures his childish character perfectly. It's the same little child going 'Vroom vroom!' when he gets behind the wheel of a big truck or fire engine, or throwing a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way.

Just a quick reminder for the Associated Press -

Donald Trump and his party held the presidency, Senate and House for 2 full years without funding the border wall or shutting down the government over a lack of funding for said wall.

So kindly go blow it out of your assholes.

Some folks who analyze the twitter stuff claim that anytime his tweets mention “sooooo”, that it’s a Sarah Huckabeef-ColSanders special.

He has been kind of quiet about certain topics the past few days.  He’s not raging about collusion anymore.

Tl;dr reptilian brain

While dozens of psychologists have analyzed Trump, to explain the man’s political invincibility, it is more important to understand the minds of his staunch supporters. While various popular articles have illuminated a multitude of reasons for his unwavering support, there appears to be no comprehensive analysis that contains all of them. Since there seems to be a real demand for this information, I have tried to provide that analysis below.

5. The Fear Factor: Conservatives Are More Sensitive to Threat

Science has  shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response when faced with stimuli that may be perceived as threatening. A 2008 study in the journal Science found that conservatives have a stronger physiological reaction to startling noises and graphic images compared to liberals. A brain-imagingstudy published in Current Biology revealed that those who lean right politically tend to have a larger amygdala — a structure that is electrically active during states of fear and anxiety. And a 2014 fMRI study found that it is possible to predict whether someone is a liberal or conservative simply by looking at their brain activity while they view threatening or disgusting images, such as mutilated bodies. Specifically, the brains of self-identified conservatives generated more activity overall in response to the disturbing images.

These brain responses are automatic and not influenced by logic or reason. As long as Trump continues to portray Muslims and Hispanic immigrants as imminent threats, many conservative brains will involuntarily light up like light bulbs being controlled by a switch. Fear keeps his followers energized and focused on safety. And when you think you’ve found your protector, you become less concerned with offensive and divisive remarks.

I thought so, too.  Reading that article makes me wonder how much of Trump’s populist appeal is just serendipitous and how much may be carefully crafted with a deep understanding of the mentality of the conservative street.

lol nah.  Trump complains and blames others and then people cheer so he keeps doing it.  There's no deeper understanding.

Yep.  It’s always somebody else’s fault. It’s partly why he’s found himself in court so much.  Refusal to accept responsibility.

Maybe, but he couldn’t have curated a better list of what to complain about and who to blame in order to become the poor, uneducated white man’s champion.

Serendipitous then.  He has still left a dark blueprint for future conservative politicians to borrow from and perhaps perfect.

Didn't he also try and avoid replacing border wall in Cal because...it's Cal, until he realized that was the only wall that needed replacing?

Of course, Obama gave away Houston's Space Shuttle and put it in California...
