another funny thing to note - trump keeps saying the mueller investigation (18 angry democrats) called all these witnesses for all these hours, then says stuff like, "and now, they want to call all these same people again, call them back in to testify."

has trump's brain convinced him that "house democrats" = "mueller investigators"?  i mean, he knows these are different people, right?

I also wondered why dogs lick their own butts. I concluded their brains are just different. I think the same applies here.

It is absolutely fucking amazing Pelosi is so worried about the consequences of impeachment. Hey dipshit, the huge wave Dems rode in 2018 was extremely boosted by hatred of Trump, you aren't going to lose the House in 2020 if you impeach him, holy shit.

^ if the rules haven't fully changed yet, they are quickly getting there. AOC's comments are more in line with future elections/voters than Pelosi's. I don't think younger voters are going to put up with the lawlessness that this WH has embraced.

How many times did Bill and Hillary whine about useless investigations?  Must have been thousands of times considering the number of investigations that never found anything other than a blowjob.  Oh wait, they didn’t whine?  Guess that’s what innocent people do.

Uh, Trump is playing dictator and Nancy is letting him do it.

Trump is a clown. Just because he wants to be a dictator doesn’t make him one.

Hes banking on the Supreme Court being as corrupt as he is (and “I’m just in it for the money” Billy Barr).

That’s not the case. It better not be anyway.

But Hillary would have been soooooo corrupt

She would have already been under impeachment I’m afraid. Since the Reps were in charge the first 2 years, she would have been charged within the first 2 months for God only knows what reason.

They would have begun an impeachment inquiry day 1 of the new congress. They were openly talking about it.

Yeah.  There's kind of a low grade consensus that if they let him get away with whatever he wants, at some point, a competent Democratic administration is going to take full advantage of that.

That's kind of depressing. Downward spiral continues to accelerate.

What would you say the odds are of the Ds starting an impeachment inquiry?

I honestly don't know.  There's a valid reason to start, in that it STRONGLY enhances Congresses case in court with subpoenas and document request, even with the conservative Supreme Court majority.  Even Executive Privilage claims look shaky in the face of impeachment proceedings. And if they actually impeach, the House managers can appeal directly to the Chief Justice for immediate relief during the trial to access documents and witnesses.  No working your way through the court system.

But Pelosi is loathe to risk giving Trump possible political capitol.

I think there is no way in hell this would happen.  The Rs would turn around and scream bloody fucking murder if the Ds tried to pull anything like this.  That's why the Rs are better at the game.  The Dems would scream "BUT TRUMP!" and the Rs would say "get fucked" and the Dems would fold.

Maybe.  The issue isn't GOP members screaming bloody murder, it's establishing a judicial precedent that President's are completely above the law, except for impeachment.

I think what is more likely is 5 minutes after Joe Biden is sworn in, Republicans will propose strengthening the statutes around Congressional Subpoenas and Contempt of Congress proceedings.  Probably led by Lindsey Graham.

Why not both?  Also, this illustrates why congress is actually the bigger problem.  The dotard is a fucking child and acts like one, but the Rs in congress actually know what they are doing and are party and power over country all day every day.

At this point, I think a lot of Rs are corrupt crooks who are compromised in one way or another. I'm sure there are some Ds that fall into that category too. Maybe so many Congress members are corrupt that DC is not salvageable?

There might not much truth to it, but the Ds' inaction could be seen as a tacit recognition that their side cheats too and that they don't want to make things too tough for the next D president (like Bates said).

LOL

The clown in chiefs antics today appear to have been planned,  but just like his negotiations on the shutdown, running casinos and football leagues, and declaring bankruptcy 7 times, it just goes to show that trump has no fucking clue what to do about anything.

He blew up infrastructure negotiations in the most obvious way possible that probably weren’t going anywhere anyway and it now looks like he’s completely at fault for that.

Just like GG said to Bud Fox, “if this guy owned a mortuary nobody would die!”

just keep trumpin.

That's not what I said.  Dems aren't looking forward to taking advantage of this situation.  Rather, there are some GOP members who realize at some point, they are going to be in the majority with a Dem president, and if Trump and Barr win on all this executive privilege stuff, it's going to make their jobs impossible.   The Dems are terribly limited in what they can do.  Beyond a misdemeanor contempt of congress and subpoenas, which are time consuming, they don't have any other tools to force an Administration to submit to oversight.

Normally, Congress could use it's power of the purse to strong arm an administration into compliance, but that's not an option if McConnell is willing to carry Trump's water.  Which he is, because he desperately wants Ginsburg's SCOTUS seat, and would rather enable and hope for the best in 2020, then fight and guarantee a GOP bloodbath.  He knows what happened during John Tyler's administration when the Congressional Whig's fought their president, and the post Watergate election confirmed that.
