Yet the people who manage Whataburger voted for him as POTUS.

Meh, they sold out to Chicago, too.

Too lazy to see if this got posted. 1800 more coal mining jobs lost.

Quote

President Trump has not commented on the rash of recent coal producer bankruptcies, which have not been saved by his promises to save and revive the industry. Despite Trump's declaration that “coal is back” as recently as last year, U.S. coal consumption has fallen to its lowest level since 1978, according to the Department of Energy

Since his election, 51 coal plants have closed and eight coal companies have filed for bankruptcy, CBS News reported.

Just last month, the U.S. Energy Information Administration revealed that renewable energy production had surpassed coal-fired generation for the first time in history.

“The fate of coal has been sealed, the market has spoken. The trend is irreversible now, the decline of coal is unstoppable despite Donald Trump’s rhetoric,” Michael Webber, an energy expert at the University of Texas, told The Guardian. “Trump has made a promise that will be broken, which is a tragedy for coalminers who were told they don’t need to get other jobs or get new skills. They have been sent the wrong signal and now there are lay-offs.”

some conservative dipshit was on with chris cuomo last night making the argument that trump wasn't a liar because he had kept each and every campaign promise, and that's all that matters.  i think the real question is...has he kept any?

I got sucked into that too and my god.  He literally said he didn't think the dotard had ever lied.  It was astonishing.

Hey at least the coal miners had the pleasure of telling Hillary where she could shove her $30 billion revitalization plan for coal miners.    The memory of lib tears will keep them warm and fed for years to come.

but he didn't.  he wouldn't officially say that.  he kept twisting it just so.  none of these guys can ever answer a yes or no question with a yes or a no.

one of the reasons i like cuomo is that he tries really hard to have both sides represented on an argument, and give them both a chance to make their cases, and typically they seem to appreciate that.  obviously last night was a straight up interview (not a split screen debate) and the guy flat-out denied that trump was a liar.

Ok I guess that's correct, but the point was the same.  I don't know how these people sleep at night.

seriously.

the contortion required to make these arguments reminds me of sports "discussions" we used to have in junior high.

You don't have to be good at your job, you just have to look like what Trump thinks people should look like based on movies.

He is a fucking moron. Most people this stupid don't even get to manage a Whataburger.

Now try to imagine being such a complete and utter fraud, such a total failure as a citizen and as a human being that you look at all of this and think, “this guy is doing a great job.  I will definitely vote for him, we could use more of this.”

Say, on a completely unrelated matter, where’s Johnny Sack these days? Haven’t heard much from him lately.

A Book of Trump in the Bible? Why the hell not.  It's an op-ed by Miram Adelson published in her paper

https://www.reviewjournal.com/opinion/miriam-adelson-a-time-of-miracles-1705255/

Quote

Cherishing, promoting and safeguarding the U.S.-Israeli alliance is a personal matter for my husband Sheldon and me.

Literally.

Our marriage — of a sabra to a native of the United States, of an IDF veteran to a U.S. Army veteran, of two children of immigrants who, on opposite sides of the globe, pursued Zionist and American dreams that are in so many ways identical — is a daily manifestation of the unique relations between our two nations.

Quote

When Sheldon and I first met, we felt no cultural disconnect despite our disparate geographical backgrounds. We had our Jewish heritage in common, yes, but we also meshed thanks to the contemporary values evinced by our respective countries: independence and industry, patriotism and philanthropy, democracy and decency, courage and moral clarity.

Like even the best of marriages, the U.S.-Israel relationship has suffered the occasional rough patches — domestic tiffs misperceived as serious rifts. But, writ large, this special relationship has only deepened and flourished, thanks to shared values and destiny.

Quote

In nuptial terms, our countries celebrated their “golden anniversary” more than 20 years ago. We are now at platinum — a miracle of preciousness, radiance and endurance. And the man who most deserves credit for this is President Donald J. Trump.

Under his watch, America has finally made good on its decades-old pledge to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the U.S. Embassy there. In another service to historical justice, Trump declared the Golan Heights to be Israeli territory, and in service to the security of Israel and the whole world, he withdrew the United States from a nuclear deal with Iran that was a contemporary echo of the Munich Agreement.

Spoiler

Trump and his senior staff have also purged the sewer that was a so-called peace process, silted by dishonesty and hypocrisy. Their administration has made clear that the Middle East must come to terms with an Israel that is proudly permanent in the Land of Zion — an Israel whose Jewish roots run deepest and whose ancestral, sovereign claims are without equal.

Trump is a man of his word. On the campaign trail, he promised to protect Israel, to move the embassy to Jerusalem, to quit the Iran deal. And he has kept those promises — unlike previous presidents who traded principle for political expediency.

Trump is a businessman. He sees an Israel that gets things done, with ingenuity and resourcefulness, against the odds and fickle consensus.

These are the kind of people he likes to deal with.

Trump is a patriot. He is keenly aware of the cost to the United States of losing credibility. The world rallies to an America that is strong, and this strength is best shown by keeping faith with U.S. allies — of which Israel is the best.

By rights, Trump should enjoy sweeping support among U.S. Jews, just as he does among Israelis. That this has not been the case (so far — the 2020 election still beckons) is an oddity that will long be pondered by historians. Scholars of the Bible will no doubt note the heroes, sages and prophets of antiquity who were similarly spurned by the very people they came to raise up.

Would it be too much to pray for a day when the Bible gets a “Book of Trump,” much like it has a “Book of Esther” celebrating the deliverance of the Jews from ancient Persia?

Until that is decided, let us, at least, sit back and marvel at this time of miracles for Israel, for the United States, and for the whole world.

Remember when Republicans would mock Dems as treating Obama as the messiah?   We never saw anything remotely like the actual religious fervor for Trump personally on the right.    Trump is literally a messianic figure for many Republicans.

There is so much opportunity just to pummel Trump for having 58 coal plants close on his watch. Repeated enough you could brand him the destroyer of blue collar America. The rich NYC socialite who played golf while our blue collar workers with intangibles watched their livelihood fall apart. Such an easily branded and repeated point.

The odds of them focusing there instead of on reparations or who hates guns more is zero, give or take a few zeroes.

It's the economy, stupid.

Well yeah, but the Democrats because of the myth of global warming.  Seriously, there is no outcome they will not blame on the democrats.  That is how 30 years of brainwashing works.

I'm inclined to agree.  Trump promised to save coal.  Coal is dying.  Ergo, Trump failed.  Anything else is a secondary step.  Sure, most of his base will blame the left, but they're going to do that anyway.  We keep going over this -- they're not the target.  They're deplorable (Onboard, Chrispy, EMAWesome, etc.).  Simple farmers, people of the land, common clay of the New West.  You know, morons.

They are absolutely that stupid.  Without a doubt.

They will repeat, with fervor, whatever the right wing radio and social media machine tell them to.  They do not question their Lords.

In 2019, it's amazing how much trouble the Ds have with messaging. They should be pounding things like this in the media -- all of the media.

They should be advocating for humanitarian treatment of immigrants, strengthening ACA as the WH tries to destroy it, etc.

AOC says Green Deal, and the D Pres. candidates say M4A, and the Rs start hyperventilating while the media plays right along.

Doesn't matter, say that shit over and over. Mexico didn't pay for the wall, he didn't save coal, promises were made and not kept. Somebody has to repeat this shit over and over again until everyone is talking about it. Let them blame the left, at least it will be talked about and people will be aware that his bullshit is false...

Yep.

The "they won't be convinced" people that would rather be Russian than a Democrat aren't who we're after.
