Wife was watching the Woody Harrelson LBJ flick.

Can you imagine that some people thought LBJ was a neanderthal whose style was offensive to the office of the President.

Probably had to do with him frequently flopping out his junk with no fucks given.

"You see all these pictures online.Ā  They have Obama. Obama!Ā  And Bill Clinton, who I'll tell you was the worst president.Ā  Just the worst.Ā  And a terrible guy, always wanted me to support him, but I only did because I had to.Ā  I had to, right?Ā  People would tell me I had to support him because things would happen if I didn't.Ā  You don't want things to happen, but things happen and I'll tell you, things really happened with Ol' Bill, right?Ā  But I like to make my own things happen.Ā  Anyway, you see these pictures.Ā  Ā And these guys are supposed to be healing our nation after these terrible tragedies.Ā  Tragedies that happened much more oftenĀ under their terms than mine, believe me.Ā  And I'm seeing these pictures, and these people aren't healed!Ā  Everyone'sĀ crying and sad, and Obama is right there not helping anything.Ā  He was there to heal, and this woman's all crying.Ā  Crying, right?Ā  Like he's hurting her, and I'm saying, "You're there to heal, why not done?Ā  Why not done?"Ā  Now, you look at the pictures of me.Ā  I went to Akron, Ohio, on Monday. Akron - great people there, they love me and they love Ohio, believe me.Ā  OH-HI-OH, they say!Ā  And they were so supportive of me and the tragedy that happened in Dayton, Ohio.Ā  Great crowds to see me.Ā  And I'm there in Dayton, and Bing Bing Boom!Ā  They're healed!Ā  "You have done more for me and for our city and state and country, than any doctor ever could!Ā  Thank you, Mr. Trump!," they said.Ā  I go there and I get it done, and everyone is happy in the pictures because they...Ā  People tellĀ me it was the most important event to ever happen in Dayton, me being there.Ā  I don't even like to say it, but I hear everyone was saying it."

In an interview yesterday, he kept bragging about how the KJU letter was hand-delivered to him.Ā  Very special hand-delivery, so that he was sure the letter had not been tampered with.Ā  He was just in awe of the special hand delivery process.Ā  And then I thought, "How the fuck does Trump think correspondence to U.S. Presidents has been handled this whole time?"Ā  I think he thinks that previous Presidents used to walk to the edge of the neighborhood with a little key and open up their individual mailbox door and get the foreign correspondence that way?Ā Ā

His disconnection from reality isn't just the macro existential shit, it's weird little things like not knowing how White House mail works.Ā Ā

Trump probably thinks they used ravens. Just like on that documentary, Game of Thrones.Ā

Seriously you 38%'ers...you can tell me about the economy and Supreme Court nominations...but you voted for a guy who just now, at age 73, found out how mail works.Ā Ā

Slate goes thermonuclear on Donald:

Ā

Quote

The cherry bomb on top was a photo from first lady Melania Trumpā€™s Twitter account thatĀ appeared to featureĀ a grinning president with a 2-month-old infant who was orphaned during the El Paso shooting. The babyā€™s parents were both killed trying to protect him.

Five of the eight El Paso victims who were still in the hospital reportedlyĀ declined to meetĀ with the president, and three were physically unable to. It appearsĀ baby Paul was brought back to the hospital by White House staff for the photo-op.

Thatā€™s the president, grinning and giving a thumbs-up, as the orphaned child is held out like a trophy. If words werenā€™t inclined to fail,Ā ghoulishĀ andĀ surrealĀ might serve. This child has no parents because a shooter spouting Trumpist talking points about foreign ā€œinvadersā€ went to El Paso to kill them. And while the president refused to speak to reporters, who were scolded by the White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, in a statement saying that the visits were all ā€œabout the victimsā€ and not a ā€œphoto op,ā€ hours later, TrumpĀ released a campaign-style videoĀ of his triumphal comforting tour.

**************************************************************************************************************************************

Trump cannot function in reality. He lives in a hall of mirrors with his made-for-TV family, as the national security apparatus, the national intelligence apparatus, the foreign service, and foreign policy detonate all around him. And on the rare occasion on which he is called to step out from behind the glass panopticon that he has built, he fails, spectacularly, because that which really matters canā€™t be tweeted or reduced to a campaign video.

Ā

Trump cracks jokes about Equinox scandal, kamikaze pilots at Hamptons fundraiser

By Jennifer Gould Keil and Emily Smith

August 9, 2019 | 7:33pm

Ā

President Trump cracked jokes about the Equinox scandal, the old days of rent-controlled New York and his dealings with North and South Korea among deep-pocketed pals in the Hamptons on Friday.

Ā

Trump was feted at two big-money fundraisers ā€” first a lunch for 60 hosted by real estate guru Stephen Ross, whose company owns Equinox and Soul Cycle. Then Trump talked for an hour to a crowd of 500 at the sprawling Bridgehampton home of developer Joe Farrell. The two events raised a total of $12 million.

Ā

After Equinox members revolted over Rossā€™ fundraising for the president, with many threatening to cancel memberships, Trump said he had joked with Ross about how divided the nation is.

Ā

Noting the relentless attacks on himself by the media, Trump quipped, ā€œSteve Ross got into a little bit of trouble this week, I said, ā€˜Steve welcome to the world of politics!ā€™ ā€

Ā

Of his fundraising visit, Trump went on to say, ā€œI love coming to the Hamptons, I know the Hamptons well, everyone here votes for me but they wonā€™t admit it.ā€

Ā

And of his tough stance on trade tariffs and US military aid, Trump told a story of going as a boy to collect rent checks with his father, adding, ā€œIt was easier to get a billion dollars from South Korea than to get $114.13 from a rent-controlled apartment in Brooklyn, and believe me, those 13 cents were very important.ā€

Ā

Trump thanked a number of people at the event, held in a huge tent in the garden of Farrellā€™s famous home, titled ā€œSandcastle,ā€ Trump said, ā€œThereā€™s Don Jr., I didnā€™t think he liked politics, but actually heā€™s really good at it. And so is Kimberly. Don Jr. is my gun expert, he knows more about guns than anyone I know.ā€

Ā

Turning to the tragic events of this past week Trump said, to applause, ā€œWe need meaningful background checks. It is time.

Ā

ā€œI spoke to Lindsay Graham on the way over in the car, I spoke to Nancy Pelosi, I called her, she called me, I talked to Chuck Schumer . . . we are all in agreement about this. It is time for meaningful background checks.ā€

Ā

Trump kept returning to hit back at the ā€œfake newsā€ media attacks on him, saying of claims from the Democrats that he is a racist, ā€œThat is the only ammunition they have.ā€

Ā

Trump also made fun of US allies South Korea, Japan and the European Union ā€” mimicking Japanese and Korean accents ā€” and talked about his love of dictators Kim Jong Un and the current ruler of Saudi Arabia.

Ā

He started by saying how the EU had not paid its share to NATO and he insisted it does so.

Ā

Talking about South Korea, Trump said it makes great TVs and has a thriving economy, ā€œSo why are we paying for their defense. Theyā€™ve got to pay.ā€ He then mimicked the accent of the leader Moon Jae-in while describing how he caved in to Trumpā€™s tough negotiations.

Ā

On his remarkable friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, ā€œI just got a beautiful letter from him this week. We are friends. People say he only smiles when he sees me.

Ā

ā€œIf I hadnā€™t been elected president we would be in a big fat juicy war with North Korea. ā€œ

Ā

Turning to Japan, Trump then put on a fake Japanese accent to recount his conversations with Shinzo Abe over their conversations over trade tariffs.

Ā

Trump spoke about his friendship with Abe and how fascinated he was with Abeā€™s father, who had been a kamikaze pilot. Trump asked Abe if the kamikaze pilots were drunk or on drugs. Abe said no, they just loved their country. Trump remarked, ā€œImagine they get in a plane with a half a tank of gas and fly into steel ships just for the love of their country!ā€

Ā

Of the midterm elections he said the media predicted a disaster for the Republican Party, but in the end it won seats in the Senate with only a few shocking defeats (the Democrats won the House). Trump added, ā€œWe got rid of two nasty ones,ā€ perhaps referring to some politicians he claimed at the time hadnā€™t shown him enough love.

Ā

And he couldnā€™t resist a real estate joke or two. Noting that the very house the event was at is currently on the market for $39 million, Trump joked to Farrell, ā€œWhat would you rather have, Joe, this beautiful house for $40 million or the White House for free?ā€

Ā

Among the 500 people at the Joe Farrell event were Somers and Jonathan Farkas, Steve Mnuchin, Wilbur Ross and wife Hilary Geary Ross, Rory Tahari, Joe Piscopo, Geraldo Rivera, Rudy Giuliani, Andrew Giuliani, Phil Falcone and wife Lisa Maria, Jean Shafiroff and Neal Sroka.

Ā

Also at the event were Estee Lauder billionaire and philanthropist Ronald Lauder, financier Leon Wagner, Vornado founder Steve Roth, co-chair of the RNC, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Bob Castellani, CEO of North American Rescue, real estate mogul Richard Le Frak, financier Peter Worth, commercial real estate developer Bill Stern, Rob Godfrey, former First Lady of Florida Carole Crist, Monica Crowley, Cantor Fitzgeraldā€™s Howard Lutnicki, Steve Witkoff, Bill Ford, Joe Thal, Andrea Catsimatidis and Ed Cox.

Ā

Seriously. Eat the rich.
