so he could literally issue a ban on ecigs via executive order, right?

i mean... that seems like it would be kind of a big deal, and is just the kind of non-thought-out random spur of the moment sort of thing he loves doing.

i know at least half a dozen people that quit smoking by switching to vape. i imagine there are at least a few million customers out there.

it certainly isn't the most catastrophic thing he could do...but it does seem like it could be the kind of unexpected 'last straw' for many.

it would be fitting if among everything else, something like that were to push people over the edge lol

I think he's only talking about banning the addition of flavoring.  But hell if I know what the hell that man is thinking.

I'm one of those former smokers who quit by switching to vaping earlier this year, and I can't tell you how much better I feel: breathe easier, allergies better, no more crackling smokers cough, not harking up loogies when I wake, don't stink, sleep better, etc.

I already hated the fucker, but this would push me over some line I'd prefer not to think about.

Same, except I quit 3 years ago. I think this would touch a lot of people (including a bunch that never/rarely vote) and give them a solid reason to vote against him. Personal vendettas are the best vendettas.

Obama's FDA had issued a proposed rule regulating to the point of an effective ban for most of the vape type products. Would have probably left just large manufacturers and was criticized as written by the tobacco lobby but that's another issue. Trump admin rescinded it.

Anyway, we have laws and regulations, w d procedures for banning shit. You can just arbitrarily regulate by fiat. Unless you're Trump I guess

The ban--and Obama's reg--seem really short sighted to me. I mean, kids are vaping. Well, better than smoking.

I hope you're right if it happens but am doubtful, because I know a few stoners who keep voting R in spite of them keeping weed illegal in this state.

Did I mention that instead of spending about $200/mo on an absolutely deathly habit, I now only spend $40 on something that *might* be harmful?

What’s his stated reason for banning vape stuff? The recent “epidemic” of deaths which were due to people doing street made shit with all kinds of trash in it?

Or, because they are bad for people, you know, like analog cigarettes?

Flavors is the ban he's floating.  Kids are more apt to go for flavored vaping, allegedly over tobacco flavor.

You have to add tobacco flavor to the juice.

Mr. President, if you can't remember the date, can you remember the month and year? The season? The pornstar you were banging at the time? Anything?

Admittedly, I know nothing about vaping.  I just assumed there was tobacco and other flavors available; not that you added flavor to juice.  Read somewhere else earlier (forget where) that fruit flavors and anything that wasn't "tobacco" would be banned, but tobacco flavors would be available.

They do. The flavor I buy tastes like Turkisk tobacco. It's sort of like smoking an old school meerschaum pipe.

Lulz, Trump is about to approve a $15 billion bailout of Iran just to keep them from doing the things the Iran deal had stopped them from doing before Trump and the GOP ripped it up.   But $400 million pallets of cash!!!

Seriously.

Iran gets access to $15 billion in exchange for going back to what the Obama admin had negotiated. Only this time, there would be no UN oversight.

And to think people were bitching about the "billions" that Obama bailed out Iran with.  And how many times Trump cried how horrible of a deal it was.

He's desperate for any foreign policy achievement that he could call a "win" at this point, no matter how bad a "deal" it is.

God it feels so good to have an authentic classy first lady and such a wholesome tight-knit Christian family back in the White House! I'm not racist but the Obamas just did not represent the traditional American family values I'm used to.

That is amazing.  👨‍🍳

Watching the GOP fall in line over this really makes me wonder if it is all performance art on Trump’s part.

This is truly the most insane time line.

HL Mencken on farmers:

Quote

"Let the farmer, so far as I am concerned, be damned forevermore! To
hell with him, and bad luck to him! He is,unless I err, no hero at
all, and no priest, and no altruist, but simply a tedious fraud and
ignoramus, a cheap rogue and hypocrite, the eternal Jack of the human
pack. He deserves all that he suffers under our economic system, and
more. Any city man, not insane, who sheds tears for him is shedding
the tears of the crocodile."

"No more grasping, selfish and dishonest mammal, indeed, is known to
students of the Anthropoidea. When the going is good for him he robs
the rest of us up to the extreme limits of our endurance; when the
going is bad he comes bawling for help out of the public till. Has
anyone ever heard of a farmer makng any sacrifice of his own
interests, however slight, to the common good? Has anyone ever heard
of a farmer practicing or advocating any political idea that was not
absolutely self-seeking -- that was not, in fact, delibertely designed
to loot the rest of us to his gain? Greenbackism, free silver,
government guarantee of prices, all the complex fiscal imbecilities of
the cow state John Baptists -- these are the contributions of the
virtuous husbandman to American political theory . . . . Yet we are
asked to venerate this prehensile moron as . . . the foundation stone
of the state!"
