So if I’m anything less than a straight audiophile, these will sound good, correct? Looking for something that will work in home theater and back kitchen/pool area.

We have an ARC and Sub in the living room. Sounds great. For traditional home theater type setup you could add surrounds via Sonos Ones. If you are looking for full on Atmos then go receiver and the hole 9 yards. I find Sonos fits my needs with much less clutter and complexity.

For kitchen and pool I recommend a Move. I keep mine docked in my office and then take it outside on the deck for pool parties. Easy.

Hey guys; I'm looking on improving the sounds on the pool deck.  What's the latest and greatest with this stuff?

Like @TexEx15 said, I have two of the Move units.  Sound pretty good and connectivity is solid.  We use it out back when sitting around the picnic table by the BBQ pit or on the other side of the house on the covered patio.  Keep another one at the guest house.  Seems to be the best option for Sonos portability.  Holds a great charge too.

Sonos Move for moseying around the backyard.  I really enjoy it.  Keep an eye on the battery charge because it likes to drain itself when away from the cradle.

They also have a smaller Roam, but it's not meant to fill a large space, and it's kinda fiddly to use.

For fixed placement, there's an outdoor set by Sonance

I have the Beam Gen 2 soundbar and love it. I want to add the Era 300s for surround. Definitely overkill but I've transitioned to caring more about the audio than video for my TV setup. Also interested in the Sub Mini but bass isn't as important to me.

Have the exact setup you're referring to in our living room.  We have a big living room with really tall ceilings - that setup is more than enough.  Also - mini sub is great.  We hide behind this teak table we keep in the corner.  No rattle, clean base, and cant see it.

10 units across 2 homes, huge fan. Figured this deserved a mention since their app launch was complete shit.

I feel like Sonos is missing out on the old crowd by selling them on the idea that their sound bars can create clearer vocals for TV shows. Many buy a nice TV then cheap out on a sound bar that is just loud. And while some complain that Sonos doesn’t provide enough HDMI connectors on some of their devices, it makes them less complicated.

This move was long past due. I also have about 10 products and I think they sound great.

But what Sonos did rushing out the app updated really alienated their loyal fanbase. Now they are a high priced product with a base that is going to be reluctant to embrace them until they demonstrate they have a plan to fix their software issues.

Spence destroyed so much goodwill the company had, I hope they make it but I have a feeling someone is going to end up buying them up.

We are very happy with Sonos Beam on bedroom and porch TVs.

Have had Sonos for years and kind of figured most of their development went into the hardware and connectivity therein.  The app has always played second fiddle to their equipment that always just seemed to work and sound great to me.  I had no idea about all of the app issues.

Same here. I’ve used the app but rarely.

I share the same sentiment about not having issues. I mostly use voice dictation or broadcast stuff to sonos from airplay, and never relied on the app. But tons of people everywhere do complain about it, so there must be some validity behind it.

The company seems to have lost prestige from a few years ago, when I started accumulating their shares (hoping for an Apple buyout). Been a bagholder of this stock for a while now...

AirPlay somewhat tethers you to the device, the App doesn’t. The App also used to have capability to build custom playlists across multiple services. Really was handy

Also, rumors are swirling of an acquisition

The app being so easy to use and seamless is what made it so great. That the speakers just worked, their connectivity, etc - it’s all software. Their hardware is good, but their software is what makes them shine. I’m not trying to slight the HW, but so long as you have enough storage & RAM and made good design choices, you can software your way out of anything.

Ands it’s not just the app, but the firmware on the hardware. That stuff all has to be bulletin proof.

It makes me wonder how you guys use your systems. I find the app and other app integration to be invaluable.

Also, any Home Assistant users here? Been playing around with better integration of Sonos, wanted to see if anyone had thoughts.
