Jake Smith, for both questions. He's really fucking good, Owens needs to refine his technique before he reaches full Tomahawk Missle destruction levels, and if Smith's got a little bit of primadonna to him like some posters have said the staff will want to make sure he's engaged and positive.

No doubt.  Might see Tyler Owens and Adimora on special teams.  Expect to see Liebrock  get on the field for a few games too....

I could see Kenyatta Watson getting some PT, especially special teams.

I think Myron Warren will be very good in a couple of years and for the sake of the LB situation ( and current out look of LB recruits in the state ) Gbenda needs to not be a bust.

Remind me on Owen's story??

I think something like:  1) Initially under the radar recruit; 2) Attended Horns camp and was fastest there; 3) Received Texas offer at the end of camp; 4) During his Sr year shot up the recruiting rankings; 5) Aggy gnashing of teeth over Owens rapid rise in 247 star ratings not too soon after he committed to Texas???  🤘

Damn. I gotta sit down and watch that game again. Dawgs weren’t at all ready for what Texas brought from the opening drive.

This guy from SI.com lists Texas as one of five teams he expects to regress from last season.

The Longhorns are a virtual lock to begin next season in the top 10. Sam Ehlinger enters 2019 as one of the country’s leading Heisman Trophy candidates, and recruiting has been strong for head coach Tom Herman. However, lost production and lurking statistical clues from last season suggest a decline for Texas this season.

For starters, Texas brings back just 48% of its production last season, which is 121st in the country (as calculated by SB Nation’s Bill Connelly). Altogether, the Longhorns will lose eight of their most productive defenders from last season, in addition to leading receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, who accounted for over 33% of Texas’s yards through the air in 2018. It’s not as if there aren’t talented players who will get opportunities in increased roles, but that’s still a lot of production to replace. With a September 7 bout with LSU on the schedule, the Longhorns better hope defensive coordinator Todd Orlando’s young defense is ready.

Plus, it wasn’t as if Texas was a juggernaut last season. Despite finish No. 9 in the final AP Poll, the Longhorns ranked No. 43 in the country in point differential, and S&P+ gave them an expected win total of 8.3, down 1.7 from their 10 wins. For as productive as Ehlinger was, Texas lost to Maryland and played close games against Kansas State, Baylor and Kansas, the three lowest-efficiency teams in the Big 12. It was also one of the luckier teams in the country in turnovers, according to Connelly’s adjusted turnover margin metric. The schedule is relatively favorable next season, especially with facing LSU at home, but the numbers points to a possible decline in 2019 for Texas.

SI.com - Five Teams We Expect to Regress This Season After Strong 2018 Campaigns

Hey Caleb, go fuck yourself, bitch.

Saying we may not finish the season as highly ranked as we start the 2019 season is one thing.  saying we'll "decline" from our 10-4 record last year is another.

Also, I always love the writer who says, "look at all their close wins!" while ignoring that our 3 regular season losses were by a combined total of 9 points. We were a hell of a lot closer to beating WVU, OSU, and Maryland than were to losing to K St., Baylor, and Kansas. While K St. and Kansas were both one score games, I wouldn't call them close. We had the ball and killed the clock in both. So basically, we went 3-2 (including teh Red River game here)  in games that were actually undecided late in the 4th quarter. But obviously that doesn't fit this guy's narrative so he ignores it.
