I agree. Mack found his Colt within weeks of taking over in Chapel Hill. Maybe he paid the kid, but got a hometown deal due to FSU’s coach leaving and being a NC kid. (Or maybe he just put the word out to boosters that the team really needed to get Howell and let them take it from there.)

If Howell pulls that sideline stop, let the defender fly by him out of bounds, and then start again and make it into the end zone in college... against a team at least as good as a Fresno State, he could very well win himself a Heisman.

That was time well spent.  Not sure what was my fav part.

Yep. Sucks winning all those Big 12 titles and multiple playoff runs while we fought for bowl births. Maybe we should think about them more and less about aggy.

You'd think people with so much of a better history would be proud of THAT instead of obsessing over someone "under" them. But, I guess that's why every time you see Texas players, fans, and alums, we're always giving an aggy thumbs down to cameras. Especially when playing someone else.

Their focus is where it should be, beating the one team which has been a constant threat. They do it because they know it bothers us. They are in our heads, obviously.

If Texas can’t win a championship in the next few years, it is not going to be because we failed to sign talent to catch passes this year. Sometimes we need 3, pursue 6, land 2 consolation prizes, and sweat it out. We landed Who is probably 5* material in Washington, the GPotY in Smith, and record-breaker Whittington in addition to what is basically a bonus year of CJ. All this before we even know if we get an ‘extra’ year of LJ. We hit a grand slam HR on WR recruiting. Winning is nice, and we would have found a way to use McCoy, but the fascination with a guy who was not coming here and who does not play at a position of real need is crazy. I could see if he were a world-beater JuCo LT with 3 years to play 3. I have to agree with the sentiment that we should focus on who we got, not the ones we didn’t.

I’ll let Mensa know to lay off the kids who aren’t coming here. There’s an ironclad list of those, as defined by something called “CBs.”

This would not have been written if we had landed him. We need to wish the guy good luck, take the L and move on. It is not debatable that a player like Bru raises the chance of winning a championship especially when our biggest rival signed 2 5*s. No need to come up with weak sauce rationalizations.

You clearly don’t have teenage children. Knowing what they are going to do tomorrow is impossible. Knowing who they are leaning towards signing with 12 months after the start of their recruitment is inconceivable. I trust Herman and his staff are applying their time efficiently. Not even Bama gets 100% of their targets.

I said we would use him and that getting him would be nice. My points were (1) WR seems a strange position on which to expend anguish in this cycle, knowing what we do now, and (2) dude was not coming here. Sort of like if a grad transfer QB were on the radar, a real stud; he is going to Oregon but the 995ers keep throwing our name out there, too. He would make a great addition, but isn’t exactly the missing piece to our puzzle nor one we’re getting anyway. I wanted Bru to come here and was occasionally intrigued by apparent oddities in his recruitment, but today’s announcement was about a 1 on the Malikmas scale.

We had some highly public losses at the end of this cycle.  Those losses add up and create perception problems.  What I'm saying is that Herman and his team did NOT apply their time efficiently in those situations.  You have to make sure you are winning at a clip higher than 50.1% in those situations and we weren't doing that at the end of this cycle.  You are working with 25 ships a year.  It's not like you cant manage those #'s.

You are just wrong. Every school has early and late decommits. Especially when you are competing for the very best like UT. Nobody even remembers who decommited the last few years. Wins, bowl games and championships are 1,000 Times more influential on the perception of the school. I would like to understand the math behind how you arrived at 50.1%. Thank you.

For example, QB Malik Hornsby class of 2020 is regarded by some as the closest thing to VY in years. If Herman thinks it’s a 40% chance he commits and stays with UT, should we not pursue him aggressively?

You mean aggy thinks that, because no rational human being thinks he's anywhere near VY's level. He's a project at best.

Well, now that these exhibition games are done, I hope our coaches snap out of it and start focusing on just recruiting the "next VY" level unicorns who are guaranteed to sign with us. That should free up some of Mensa's time for working on the 10-yard-minimum offense, deciding whether or not to wear a goatee and ordering new capes in exactly the right color of orange.

So far Hornsby is looking more like Shawn Robinson than VY.

Sigh. The name of the recruit isn’t important. Change it to Zach Evans. Nonbryan would have Herman not recruit him if there is less than a 50% chance of signing him.  I was demonstrating the absurdity of that.  But he’s not responding so maybe Nonbryan has sobered up and stopped posting nonsense.

This is what conceding looks like. Nonbryan has literally zero defense of his original argument. That’s fine. Moving on.

Good call saying we shouldn’t have recruited Bru McCoy.
