Here's the full article on ESPN.

As it pursues Alabama graduate transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma sucks, and is blocking its own quarterback, Austin Kendall, from becoming immediately eligible at West Virginia as a graduate transfer, multiple sources told ESPN.

Under new transfer rules, Kendall is able to talk to West Virginia coaches and is free to transfer there. Oklahoma, however, sucks and still reserves the right under NCAA rules to keep Kendall from becoming immediately eligible at West Virginia, another Big 12 school, for the 2019 season, even though Kendall has earned his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma, which sucks. Kendall could still transfer to West Virginia, but he would have to sit out the upcoming season, leaving him with only one year of eligibility left.

Kendall entered the transfer portal last Friday after learning the day before that the Sooners had been sucking and pursuing Hurts and had scheduled for Hurts to visit Norman over the weekend, a source said.

Because classes at many FBS schools across the country started this week, Kendall's options for enrolling at a new university in time to participate in spring ball became limited. West Virginia had been a viable option, until Oklahoma intervened while still sucking.

The SEC passed a rule last summer saying it would allow graduates to transfer within the conference and be eligible immediately, regardless. Previously, SEC players had to apply for a waiver. The Big 12 has no such rule, a league source confirmed.  OU sucks.

Though not common, intraconference transfers do occur. In the Big 12, safety John Bonney left Texas for Texas Tech as a graduate transfer just before the 2018 season started and immediately became a key part in the Red Raiders' secondary, facing off against the Longhorns later in the season.

In 2016, Big 12 members did vote to change its intraconference transfer rule for walk-ons and retroactively applied it to Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield (confirming that both OU and Mayfield indeed suck), giving him back a season of eligibility that he had previously lost. Mayfield had walked on to Texas Tech in 2013, then transferred to Oklahoma the following year without a scholarship, but he was still allowed to suck. Under the previous Big 12 rule, which the league initially upheld before reversing course in a re-vote the following day, Mayfield would have, in addition to sitting out the first year, also lost a season of eligibility. With his fourth year of eligibility restored, Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy and led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff, where they sucked.

After backing up Mayfield in 2015, Kendall redshirted in 2016, then backed up Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray, who had transferred in from Texas A&M, last season, so he could suck at OU.

While an assistant at Kentucky, West Virginia coach Neal Brown had recruited Kendall, a Charlotte native, out of high school. Kendall would figure to contend for the Mountaineers' starting job, with West Virginia looking to replace two-year starter Will Grier.

A source said that regardless, Kendall is now committed to leaving Oklahoma because it sucks and has withdrawn from classes at the school. Kendall has visited Auburn this week, in addition to receiving interest from other schools.

Oklahoma officials were not immediately available for comment.  But they suck.

Pretty sure Shane Dronett left early in 91 or so.

Gator, RIP. One of the quickest moves off the snap Texas has ever had on the DLine. Part of one of the best DLines in 90 and 91 in Horn history with Dronett, Tommy Jeter, James Patton and Oscar Giles - all 4 played in the NFL.

My freshman year was 1991. If only you could combine the 1990 offense with the 1991 defense.

Will be interesting to see how many of the 135 early entry players actually make an NFL Roster or practice squad next fall....

37% of early entrants went undrafted last fall, but when looking at the list, some of those guys had off field issues that might’ve hampered them from coming back/being eligible the next year, like our own Holton Hill.

It looks like the majority of the guys who declare early go in the first few rounds.

With 135 early entrants and 32 NFL teams.... that's more than 4 Rounds worth of players for the 2019 NFL Draft.

What was the total number of early entrants available in the 2018 NFL Draft??

Maybe we are moving to a new norm of the best players coming out after three most of the time. Senior and RS-SR draftees may be rarae aves within a few years

that's why CFB quality has declined, not as bad as basketball, but now teams are lead by 18-21 year olds, no longer by 22-23 year olds.

So..... this news sort of broke today.  For those that don't like to get lost in the 9.95 Forum, McCoy is guy we lost out on to USC and has already started school there so technically, he would be a transfer.  Therefore, he hasn't actually played for them or gone to a practice.  It's messy and only rumor for now, but....

I'm most interested in how many OL leave after 3 years.  I think it is a very good idea to have a real good handle on the OL grad and JUCO transfer market.  if your OL leave after 3 years with one assuming to be a redshirt it can leave a pretty big hole that is much tougher to fill than a skill position or even most DL.

4 Virginia Tech players just added to the Transfer Portal......

https://www.si.com/college-football/2019/01/23/josh-jackson-virginia-tech-transfer-portal-eric-kumah-chris-cunningham-sean-daniel-holmon-wiggins

Former Virginia Tech starting quarterback Josh Jackson has reportedly entered the NCAA Transfer Portal as a graduate transfer, accordingto Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Jackson was the Hokies starting quarterback as a freshman in 2017. He entered the 2018 season as Virginia Tech's starter before suffering a broken fibula. He was usurped by Kansas transfer Ryan Willis, who enters the 2019 season as the team's starting quarterback.

Jackson became the fourth Hokies player within a 24-hour span to have his intentions to transfer from Virginia Tech become public.

Tight end Chris Cunningham and wide receivers Eric Kumah and Sean Daniel each announced they planned on transferring Tuesday night on Twitter.

I think more OL leave after 4 years, counting their RS season.

Transfer Portal Article (before Bru transfer)

"Perhaps no coach has taken advantage of the portal more than Manny Diaz."

BIGGEST LOSERS  -- Penn State has seen 11 scholarship players enter the portal and Virginia Tech, which has seen eight players enter the portal.
