Guitar Effect Pedalphile Thread

ever since paul introduced me to the sansamp, i use it on every bass track i make when i am recording di. they are very good about getting a huge number of sounds. if you are regularly playing bass at gigs, it would be silly not to have it.

disclaimer: i own a bass, have claimed to be a bass player, but am not an actual bass player.

  • Picked this up last year.  Debatable whether it’s worth the money, but it’s badass and I haven’t found a clone that can match it.

  • I have been glancing at that Boss Katana 50 for a few days and late last night one was posted on Facebook Marketplace that looked practically brand new for $170. I didn't send a message about it

Sansamp has been used on a lot of pro recordings you wouldn't expect were recorded DI. Edit: Or at least, they had the budget to record anything they wanted, and the sansamp pedal was still chosen.

All good to know. All the bits are ordered. I'll post pics here when I get it put together and start fiddling with the nobs.

The new country bass pedal board. I still have a lot of knob tweaking to do. But the idea is essentially to go from 70s Country to modern country with a flick of the sans amp and the twist of a tone knob. Or as close to that easy as I can get. Compressor to even out the slap I get from playing too hard, octave for the modern sub sounds, chorus to thicken things up when we get a little thin sounding.

So we had our first practice this weekend with this set up and I'm about 90% pleased. The SansAmp is killer. I still need to tweak it some, but it does a very good job of allowing a switch between a 70s Precision style bass and then a more modern bass when it's switched off. The chorus seems a little too subtle for me right now. I need to tweak it to get a little more shimmer. The octave is fucking crazy. I haven't quite figured out how to use it if the venue doesn't have good subs. It makes my Ampeg 410 start making farting noises, and not in a funny way. I feel like I should get a 15 cab and be playing Dr. Dre when it's turned on. The Keeley is the tits though. I used to get all sorts of clacking and extraneous noises when playing closer to the neck and also when getting a little too carried away with the moment and playing harder. It just happens. The Keeley sorted all that out. Highly recommended. Also the pedal board itself and ISO 6+ power station are very compact and noiseless. I'm altogether pretty pleased with the performance. Now I just have to see how it plays out. C'mon out and hear for yourself if you want. We'll be playing at Plowboys in Seven Points Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11. I'll buy you a beer if you introduce yourself as Muledick.

Now they just need to come up with the SansTalent pedal to simulate actual guitar paying ability, and I'm on my way.

In the meantime I recommend the Boss Blame Shifter

Lol, what’s your success rate with that pickup line?

Aren't all pedals of this variety?
