Still being pushed back multiple times. Lost count of how many. Not even giving her a "range" for delivery. The dealer contact did say that they were notified a VIN has been assigned, so maybe that means we will get it this month?

This guy didn’t have an issue getting a replacement swiftly. Maybe he keeps taking yours.

No need to act like anything, because there are simple reality:

You can walk into Mac Haik today and walk out with an F150. Because they literally have 100s of them unsold. And Mac pays an army of people to push the vehicles to you so he can get them off his books.

Tesla is still in the process of scaling up their production, because the minute they assign a VIN, that car is assigned to buyers around the world waiting with cash on hand.

At this point, why the hell should Tesla spend money building up a dealership infrastructure like the Mac example, when they could that dollar into the production process?

Because people won’t buy their cars if they don’t have the Mac Haik experience?  Evidently not.

Your point of their longevity was the fact that you have to wait on a vehicle. That doesn’t mean as much as you’d like because they don’t have the manufacturing capabilities to keep up. They aren’t just absolutely covered up. The other car companies are making more daily, that’s why they’re able to have those cars sitting on a lot, waiting on someone to come get it.

I heard about some crazed individual filling a Super Soaker with bleach, and spraying it at people's faces.

Should the company manufacturing the water gun and bleach, along with the retailer selling these products be held liable for this sickos actions?

Should Big Daddy Government ban Super Soakers and bleach to protect us?

I have yet to see a Super Soaker model that costs extra for the bleach in your face option, nor have I seen the inventor of the Super Soaker giving interviews saying it was perfectly safe to put blech in your super soaker and shoot it in people's faces.  Thank you for the textbook example of a false equivalency.

Any update? My wife changed the exterior color a few weeks back and it pushed the estimated delivery window out to June 18-30, then suddenly today they said it’s actually ready and delivery is now scheduled for June 2.

Well here's something crazy...

I just checked my account this morning and they had a pop-up saying the new cars being delivered have Tesla Vision, but some features may be disabled upon delivery with the promise that they'll be enabled later. If I was ok with that, I could proceed with delivery. I clicked proceed and now my delivery date is June 1 - June 7 and they assigned me a VIN.

I don’t even know what that is. Is it like Wanda vision?

This sounds like the type of shit my brother went through when he got his Tesla. The delivery date was moved multiple times, he got assigned 3 different VINs, and got his car months later than originally promised. The first car they tried to deliver was obviously a floor model. The final car is great, but the way they handled this situation was amateur hour for a billion dollar company.

Brief Texas connection (while you wait for your answers).

Texan Carrol Shelby (RIP) had delivery issues as well (according to Ford v. Ferrari), and - since it is in a film - it must be true.

(Cool cars, you lucky devils. And you look smart in them, may I say.)

Psych!

We uploaded everything, but never go the link to schedule. Went ahead and sold the wife's current car thinking it would be here this weekend. Finally we call and get a hold of someone live; even though the website said we had submitted everything needed, there was an issue with their system reading our insurance card we had uploaded. When we asked what the issue was, it was that the file name wasn't what they expected it to be. Not that it was the wrong format, or corrupted, simply the file name was named incorrectly (we had simply uploaded what our insurance company sent us). My wife's reaction upon hearing that: "You guys are trying to send people to Mars and you can't make a computer read a pdf?"

Anyway, we got it cleared up on the phone, and delivery is scheduled for Wednesday. So we sold the car about 4 days too early. Guess my wife will have to chauffeur me to work tomorrow so she has a car during the day.

Still very happy with my model 3 LR after 15 months. And after trying to test drive/purchase a Pacifica plug-in hybrid a few weeks ago, I'm firmly in the camp that Tesla's purchasing model, even with its terrible customer service, is still vastly superior to the dealership model.

However, I'm not a fan of the getting rid of radar before their all vision system is actually ready to take over all the functionality. I get it conceptionally, but the line that features will be added back in over the next few weeks sounds a lot like FSD being ready in 2 months for eternity.

Now, supposed day of delivery, Tesla is saying that they haven't been able to verify funds from our lender (UFCU), even though we have a confirmation from 5/28 that the loan funded and was sent to Tesla. Car can't be delivered until that is verified.

I have purchased plenty of cars in my life, and I can deal with the dealerships games. At least there you can walk out the door with a car, instead of paying literally tens of thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it like we are right now.

That's bullshit. Unfortunately their customer service is terrible. If you can actually get someone on the phone or responding to email, you can usually resolve these things. It also sounds like they are having new issues, perhaps with an updated system, because these are very different problems than what I encountered.

This. I was assigned an individual delivery specialist. He was kind of a dumb kid, but he was at least responsive. I wonder if they still can do that with the volume they are delivering now.

Update: They were able to verify everything (after I emailed my lender and had them do an ACH trace), and actually dropped the car off at 6:00 p.m. this evening, so we have it. It's pretty cool, but the wife is still pretty frustrated with the delivery process.

You'll enjoy it.  I would take mine out just to drive around with no destination in mind for the first few weeks I had mine.  It's just an entirely different driving experience.

Wife got her Model Y on Wednesday. The drop off and trade-in were surprisingly simple. A guy showed up, we traded keys, he took a few pictures of each car and that was it. She traded in a 2007 4Runner with 200k+ miles on it and they gave us $5,900 which seems very high, and the whole thing was done virtually with no full inspection of the car. It runs fine for its age, but it still surprised me how much they offered and how few questions were asked.

She only drove the Model Y for a day before leaving for vacation but says she loves it so far.

Should have checked car max just to see. I thought Tesla was giving us a good deal on my wife’s trade; but car max offered us $3600 mor (which was about 25% more than the trade through Tesla). I tried to get her to take that to Henna to get an extra $500 but she said that was too much of a hassle.

And I guess Wednesday was delivery day in Austin; that’s when my wife got hers as well. Glad your experience was smoother than ours.

They send the cars in bulk to a wholesaler. No need for detailed inspection of each unit. Theres probably a small value arbitration in that process, or even if zero, the value they get in closing a new sale is worth it.

Got my Model 3 SR+ delivered on Tuesday. There a few cosmetic issues I'm having fixed next week when I take it to the service center (a couple interior panels not sitting flush, a couple spots in the rear exterior that are slightly misaligned, and a spot on the hood that looks miscolored or some other issue with the paint). Car has driven great and feels amazing. I love it. The only thing that I don't like is the basic audio system. It's really not that good at all. And supposedly even though they install the A-pillar speakers and the ones that sit near the side mirrors, they don't hook them up unless you get the Premium Interior. I'm now looking into some after-market options to either just hook up those speakers, or possibly add a subwoofer in the trunk as well.

Tesla did delivery event for the Model S Plaid yesterday

Im generally a skeptic of the more extreme claims that Elon makes.  But now that this thing is actually produced, released, and being delivered, its hard not to be blown away.

0-60 in 2.0x seconds.

1/4 mile in 9.2x seconds.

200mph top speed (no shit!!!), and 0.20x coefficient of drag, in a luxury family sedan.. thats fucking bonkers.

You can argue that none of those metrics are practical or necessary, and i'd still probably take a taycan dollar for dollar, but god fucking damn if it isnt impressive.

There are production cars in the 9s. To get that time you need upwards of 1000hp, but the problem has been not only traction on launch but between the gearshifts.

Tesla claims 1000hp throughout the entire rev range with single gear. So as long as they nail the launch itll apply all that power all the way down the dragstrip.

Will wait for independent tests to verify.

The claim about 200mpg top speed is with a different wheel and tire package. Stock design rides on pilot super sport, which are Y/ZR rated and run on other ~200mph cars so dont think its tires that are the problem. Probably wheels to cut down on drag — BUT the claim about .208Cd is specifically with standard-looking wheels in motion….so hard to connect the dots here

Same.  Just had my charger assembly replaced today, but turns out it was just that the magnet on the inside of the door had fallen off, but the mobile tech didn't have just the magnet, so he replaced the whole thing.  Just squeaked in under warranty at 49k miles.
