Did we just clinch the SEC championship game? The only difference in our schedule and Tennessee's is that we played A&M and they played Alabama. So if A&M beats us next week that necessarily means our SEC opponents have a better conference record than theirs do. So it would be a rematch with A&M the next week, right?

No, they would have the head to head advantage

Extra lulz if they actually think the main issue is coaching and not the fact that everyone else is now participating in having a payroll.

Why Not Both GIFs | Tenor

I agree that the deck is no longer stacked in their favor, but this was baaad. OU threw for 68 yards and dominated the game.

The shocker is ou really didn’t need to throw. Gooner embarrassed them using basically two rookies to roll them for 258 on the ground, while only giving up 70.

All the good Michigan players as well. It’s going to look like an NFL preseason game.

I don't think you or @Rockethorn1978 are incorrect in your predictions. However, as both these coaches are in their 1st year and have vastly underperformed relative to their predecessors I think this game is different.

These are two helmet schools of the highest level. The pressure on these HCs after this year's performance doesn't get any higher. I'm not saying there won't be players that opt out. However, were I the HC I'd let it be known they are welcome to opt out and enter the draft or portal, no harm no hate. However, they better do 1 of the 2 as they won't be playing "here" next year. Just my thought and I firmly believe that the fans bases of both would back the coach. But wtf do I know.

If you’re moving on to the nfl or another school, zero reason to play in a bowl game. Don’t waste time practicing the sport, instead spend time improving your combine numbers.

most bowl games were pointless before but who is going to care about them in a playoff era. They’re like the NIT tourney in basketball now. They may survive just because espn needs content for live tv and the news/talk programs.

I see a NIL clawback clause here.  Would take it out of agent’s pocket, because fuck them and lolz.

I mean they were originally intended to just be fun exhibitions to reward teams for having good seasons. It is just going to be a party for Michigan and Alabama.

But the games became about the money for the school and conferences only. The school president and AD get to be treated like a billionaire nfl owner for a few days.

I don’t deny there’s a ton of pressure on DeBoer right now, but beating Michigan in a meaningless bowl game isn’t going to buy him any grace with angry Bama fans.

I’m not a Michigan fan, but it feels like their fan base, happy off their first NC in 25 years, is giving Moore a mulligan for this season after all the talent they lost and he did beat tOSU. If he doesn’t start to produce with all the NIL support he is getting, the seat will get hot in a couple of years.

Heheh... Michigan fans are the closest facsimile of Texas fans I've ever met. Does beating OSU help, absolutely. Does getting beat by Bama enrage the Michigan fans.. would it enrage Texas fans. Does Moore have a wiggle room, yes. Would getting beat, or worse beat badly by Bama decrease the good will..

Yes. Yes it fucking would.

As a tshirt Michigan fan and a Longhorn..

Well... that's my take.

Did Sark losing the Alamo Bowl to Washington “enrage” Texas fans?

Sure, people were mad in the moment that we lost. Nobody enjoys that. But overall program direction with a new coach are more important and I don’t remember the consensus opinion being “this guy can’t get it done” because of a meaningless bowl game loss.

Just because you don't remember doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Edit - but you do bring up a good point.

Sark 0 - Deboer 2

Sark 0 - Smart 2

A win for DeBoer is meaningless. A loss for DeBoer is a serious problem for him.

Kind of like us playing A&M. It's a bigger deal to lose than to win. It's what makes it different from OU (at least in the past).

The SEC. Going out of your way to be ignorant.

Who is the idiot that felt you had to add [at]? I don't know who McAfee is, but he's a moron if he did that. We're trying to have a language here.

You don’t know who Pat McAfee is?

It’s a shitty narrative. Look how far these programs have fallen!

DeBoer (who I like) fucked this season up. He cannot lose the bowl game to a .550 quality team too.

They are your Auburn. I did not realize when they came into the SEC that they are just a big Auburn. They’d rather you lose than them win. Very sad.

Your reading comprehension skills are first rate.

That seems unnecessarily hostile. Pat McAfee is a former kicker for the Colts and has one of the biggest sports shows in the country. He’s from PA, played at WVU, and is not a SEC guy.

Laughed my ass off listening to the Hardline after work today scoffing at the delusional Alabama takes

What is the Hardline? I’ve been a Bama fan my whole life. My dad and grandfather played at Alabama. The delusion is real. All people need to know is Bama lost to two shitty teams and you can’t expect the committee to penalize a team for playing in a conference championship. I’m disappointed but only at Alabama’s performance.

Seemed sort of hostile that I must be some kind of genetically deficient human to have failed to grasp the importance of Pat McAfee nor even know his name. Okay, maybe I read too much into it.

I remain unfamiliar with McAfee. I meant merely to be pointed rather than hostile. Apologies if I missed the mark.

McAfee is also a polarizing figure on Gameday as well. I think he’s great, but a lot of old guys, at heart, at least, want him off of their Saturday morning lawns. Check out the next Gameday to probably be disgusted.
